Reasonable. My husband likes the food here, I am not a fan. I have found however you can’t go wrong with the soups or a club sandwich. When we have ordered the meals, it has been hit and miss, it is good once, then the next 2 times it’s not. It is nice to have a coffee shop in town, I just wish the quality was more consistent. The food is not bad, it’s just not fabulous. That’s not enough.

Wait staff seemed really friendly and helpful. The place was pretty dead on a Saturday morning. I was a bit sad that there corned beef hash is from a can. But I do recommend their french toast.

«We guarantee our service no matter how long it takes. «(quote on the back of one of the staff shirts.) Three tables were occupied out of 25+ tables and several employees sitting around doing nothing. We came in and there were two tables that still needed to bussed. Even as we were leaving the dirty dishes and food were all still on the table(not even in the process of cleaning them). The flies were unrelenting!(But I guess if I was a fly I’d want to live here!!! A never ending smörgåsbord as unoccupied tables filled with food available and no people to swat them away… Food presentation looked nothing like the picture as I ordered an ultimate dip sandwich. When it arrived, unmelted shredded cheese covered my sandwich. My mom had a bug in her soda… The only times we had someone come to see how we were doing was when we ordered and when they brought the bill. Oh!!! And when they came to check the score of the current game on the tv. Back in the late 90s and early 00s, Perkos used to be way better. The staff were amazing and as a customer you felt valued, they knew your name, what you ordered. The food was good too. Come to think about it, it was also much busier then… I’m sure a reflection of quality food and quality service. If the shirt is any indicator, they probably don’t care anyways.

Perko’s serves a good burger, but they’re fish and chips are grody– strawberry lemonade is awesome! They have something for everyone; mmmmmmmmm

My wife and I decided to try Perko’s even after looking at all the reviews My wife had the slow roasted tri tip with baked potatoes, corn, salad, and bread. I had the Liver and onions, corn, salad, baked potatoes, and bread. Both meals were wonderful, well cooked with great service. The salads were fresh, tasty with homemade Ranch The tri tip was the best we’ve ever had and we didn’t even need the steak sauce. If you want good American style food without the chain restaurant taste this is your place in Coalinga. Yes the building is somewhat dated, but we enjoyed the old style posters on the walls as the whole place brought us back to the 50’s. really nice. I did not find the restrooms filthy or moldy. It was clean, so I can say if you like good food and lots of it at a decent price in a 50’s atmosphere then you must come to Perko’s..

We waited 20 minutes just for our drinks, and when they came there was lipstick on my cup and when I told our waitress she didn’t even apologize. The food is overpriced for what it is. I would NEVER eat here if it weren’t practically the only place to get breakfast in Coalinga. Perkos should rename itself to PUKOS.

Didn’t have a great experience here. Service was awful. The food was mediocre and the interior was dingy.

Just stumbled upon them. Great breakfast, great service. The pancakes were great — buttery with maple syrup. The hash browns were just the right amount of crunchy. And the waitress was attentive and nice, but not too in your face attentive how some waitresses don’t leave you alone. Worth a stop on your road trip.

Why you should eat at Perko’s Coalinga in October. Coming in from or going out to the coast, CA198 is one of the most interesting highway drives for people loving the route less traveled. Perko’s is at the east end of the drive. You’ll learn about Coalinga. The home team is the horned toads. I’m sure there’s lots of hormone-fueled teenage jokes about that. On the way in or out of Coalinga, you’ll probably see a large mirror-powered solar power plant, plus the pump-jack steel horny toad at the center of town. Perko’s, like Bob’s Big Boy, Loop’s, or Coffee Ern’s is one of those cultural institution dining spots. Generations have eaten here. If you like nostalgic graphics and 50’s diner food with modern updates, Perko’s is a great place to dine. On side B. When you’re an institution and looking at a property with complacent eye, things may escape management/ownership. We ate here years ago. Nothing much changed. Except for the open sewer smell in the men’s room and green algae growing in the sink faucets, the tired carpet on the dining room floor and the beginning of a dirt collection on the ceiling. It’s not horrible, it just needs some attention and TLC.

I have eaten here a couple of times and been happy each time. Their chicken fried steak breakfast is great. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Nice local small town place.

A Better Denny’s. I did enjoy the food but it felt like it was missing something like more«love» into the food but it’s way better than Denny’s. It’s local and my waitress was having a bad day I guess but overall it was a 3.5 in my book to eat some normal home-style American Food when you don’t feel like making a mess in your kitchen.

Used to LOVE this place when I’d visit friends and family in Coalinga, but recently it has become phenomenally run-of-the-mill. Seems like they think they can get away with it because the closest family dining establishment similar to Perko’s(in terms of the style of food made along with price) is Denny’s off the freeway, and some don’t want to drive over there for simple food. The breakfasts are good(not great), but I’d rather skip their dinners and just buy something at Save Mart or order from Me-n-Ed’s.

Visiting my brother-in-law and he suggested that we eat here. We went in and were greeted/seated immediately. The waitress was very nice and she rattled off the specials, perhaps a little too fast considering by the time she was done I had forgot what they were. The food selection was pretty decent, what you would expect from any diner… burgers, breakfast, coffee etc. And the prices were pretty good too. Our food came out and it was nice and HOT and tasted pretty good. The reason why I am giving this place only 3 stars is cause I was literally scared right off the toilet seat in the restroom. I saw something out of the corner of my eye, and thought maybe it was a wrapper blowing across the floor… but nope, it was a flying roach!!! I nearly broke my neck trying to get away from it. Went back to my seat and then my daughter started freaking out, there was a huge spider on our booth. Luckily for us girls, we had my hubby there to save the day and take the spider out w/prejudice LOL. Overall the food was good, but the roach and spider will make me rethink my next visit. They should take care of the pests because they have great service and its a shame for them to lose business over something thats very easy to fix.

I live in Coalinga and this place has a semi-decent breakfast menu and a pretty good cobb salad, but the other items are low-rent in my opinion… For example the chicken fried steak: if you want something other than a plate of canned veggies and a frozen breaded patty thats been tossed on the grill long enough to be reheated then covered with some mediocre gravy for dinner, you’re SOL. Don’t go on Sunday mornings-noonish because the after-church crowd slowly builds, as the services get out at different times.

Had to stop in Coalinga for tire repair(see Billingsley Tire Service) and were directed to Perko’s Café for breakfast while we waited. Had a good meal. Generous portions of pancakes and orange juice, and good coffee. What more could you ask for?

My sister and I stopped by Coalinga on our way from Orange County to Santa Cruz. On the advice of two local residents we chose Perkos Café for dinner. Perkos is a typical American diner that looks like it was designed in the 1960s-70s(similar to a Denny’s that has not yet remodeled its restaurant). There are a lot of cluttered Americana memorabilia plastered all along the wall, giving the patron a cozy & homey vibe while seated. I don’t usually order anything with beef, chicken, or pork when I eat out, and noticed that over 90% of all dishes had either beef or bacon. Anyhow, I settled with the Fish Tacos dish. The waitress was extremely friendly and helpful with us during our stay. The meal came with a salad, two fish tacos, beans & rice(which was more than I could finish). I immediately sensed that the Fish Tacos, beans, and rice were not cooked by someone familiar with preparing Mexican food. The food was OK. Overall I would not recommend patrons who are looking for a full course meal to choose Perkos Café. This would be a better pick for a light side dish, coffee, or a dessert.
