Great experience and color by Anthony. I came in asking for a very natural look (caramel highlights) and left very satisfied and happy that I got the exact color I asked for. Thank you Anthony!

Love the service there. I came in with a difficult task and Ina did an amazing job. She made sure it was done right regardless of time and kept the price she told me initially. I’m super happy with my platinum highlights.

Waited a few days to review so I could give a fair estimate, but in the end feel that what I got was really not up to par and could have easily been done better. I called last Thursday to make an appointment, Anthony told me to come in for a consultation next day as I had a specific color and style for it in mind. I come in, he directs me to Rina, and I explain to her I wanted to redo what I had done last August at another salon (but which I did not go to this time as I moved and now live only a few blocks away from this one), which was bleaching about two to three inches of hair just in the front from the tips up to where it touches my face and I wanted it to be a cold, pale blonde, no yellow. I showed Rita a picture of what the color looked like in my hair from the day I got it done last time, which was one uniform color from tip to face, again about 2 – 3 inches of hair in length and maybe 1 inch width on my slightly longer than shoulder length hair. And I asked to have an inch cut from the back, but tapered rather than straight across.
So she does her thing, it takes a couple hours, but she let the bleach sit for only about 15 – 20 minutes, which seemed too short to me compared to what I remember it taking last time I did this for it to reach the color I wanted, but she’s the professional and I trust her since I had shown her the exact color and what my hair should look like with it so I had no reason to think there’d be any confusion about the color it should come out looking like. After washing it out, applying toner, etc. she does the cut and blow dries my hair. She did a flat cut in the back, no tapering, and the color in the front is pretty much a dark, dirty blonde. Sandy blonde highlights really, with silvery tips. Initially I thought well maybe this will look different in different lighting, and Rina assured me when I washed my hair the silver would «lighten». That sounded like bullshit, but I say ok, she’s the professional, she knows what she’s talking about right? I paid $ 120, including 20% tip, altogether. I washed my hair that night, next morning it’s still silver, this is some Olivia Newton John 1980s Nice Girl color, not the pale, white blonde I wanted.
I called back to say I really wasn’t happy with the color (no real reason to mention the error on the haircut since we can’t really redo that without losing more length) and Anthony said come in today (Saturday) so I go back and again fortunately I only live a few blocks away otherwise this would’ve been a even bigger inconvenience that it already was. I sit down and again pull up the picture of my hair the day I had it done last time to remind her what this color is supposed to look like, she says «well what I did is I feathered the color.» I didn’t ask her to «feather» the color! I wanted one bleached color, and a hard line, ending right where my face starts, she did it as soft highlights because I guess she thought that would be better? So I tell her I really wanted a uniform color and paler than this, my hair is a very light brown turned from natural blonde anyway, it’s not that hard to bleach my natural hair color right out anyway, she said so herself when she was redoing the color a second time. I never dye my hair and I only use baking soda and apple cider vinegar on it, no harsh shampoos, my hair is healthy and there’s no reason this should be hard to achieve. She reapplies the bleach, but she seems kind of distracted which is curious considering both times I was in the salon there was never more than one other person besides me being worked on. Again, it’s a Saturday, and memorial day weekend too, they don’t seem too busy, no reason why she can’t devote her full attention to getting this right with a second chance.
Big red flag: she’s washing my hair again and applying toner and says ‘oh well for some reason the bleach isn’t taking,’ something to that effect, ‘normally this is easy on lighter hair,’ and her whole tone is insinuating there’s something wrong with my hair, like really? It’s my naturally light brown/​dirty blonde hair’s fault that after being bleached TWICE it’s still not light enough? Sure, it’s my hair that’s the problem, riiiiiiight. Off to blow dry again, it is lighter than before but the color is still NOT even and uniform, and on one side it’s slightly higher up on the hair than on the other side. I point that out to her and she seems exasperated and goes ‘well I didn’t use a measuring tape!’ Well maybe you should? Maybe careful attention to detail is part of this job??? Since I’m basically being spoken to like an annoying child who’s bothering her I decide ‘ok, we’re not going to get any further here’ and bounce. It doesn’t look bad necessarily, certainly better than the first time, but I spent $ 120 and 4+ hours here and it’s still not really what I wanted, and what I wanted was pretty simple.

Please do not let Rina come near you with scissors! I live near this color shop and needed a bang trim. She is the only person there who cuts hair so I gave her a try. She said she was afraid to make them too short. I said «Please don’t…I have wavy hair so please go slowly and leave them touching my brows.» In four snips she cut straight across and left me with bangs that are literally 1″ above my eyebrows. (I just measured.) I now have «1^st grade picture», bowl-​style bangs. I did not want to write a bad review but really felt that I had no choice but to warn my neighbors.

This is my second review of Color Haven. I have been consistently going to see Rina for color for about 10 months now. I have found her to be extremely knowledgeable. Her care, attention and professionalism are top notch. When I first came to Color Haven, my hair was rough and dull, although I had been going to one of Manhattan’s most prestigious salons. Now, my hair feels smooth and healthier thanks to Rina’s advice on the type of color that’s best for me. That was an important discovery! I’m happy this place is so close to my home.

Great color. She listened to what I wanted, we discussed the plan and my hair turned out perfect.

I moved to NYC two years ago and would travel 3+hrs to have my hair done when heading back home for a visit. I would go to my friend (and hair stylist) for a long time to have my hair done. I live very close to this salon and I decided after reading great reviews to try it out. So glad I did! Rina and Anthony are very welcoming and professional! Rina covered my roots (gray) gave my hair a polish, blew it dry and I love it!
I have had lots of compliments and my hair feels amazing. I made another appointment with Rina for next month to have the same color etc.

Anthony is my hero. I moved to New York City thinking I’d never find someone to replace the hole in my heart left by the hair stylist I’d been seeing since I was 13. Then in waltzes this coloring wizard and with a quick wave of his incredibly skilled hands, I forever changed my approach to hair. He actually helped me embrace my natural base so that I could do with a lower-​maintenance color routine — meaning I’m going in for color less frequently and spending less money! AND the highlights look way better. Now that’s some true commitment to his customers’ happiness.
Not to mention he’s hilarious and kindhearted, so I genuinely look forward to my hours in the chair.
Rina always does the cut and she’s absolutely fabulous. I can tell her very basically what I’m looking for, and she can take the lead to make me look on point.
The two make a great duo and I’m beyond thrilled I found them.

I went into Color Haven for a consultation with Anthony. As soon as he saw a picture of what I wanted and discussed it further he immediately referred me to Rina for balayage. I really appreciated that he gave up a client so that I could get exactly what I was looking for. Needless to say Rina surpassed my expectations. We discussed the price prior to my appointment and she went above and beyond. Rina’s technique was awesome, the color looks great, and I really liked the blow out. The experience was totally relaxing and comfortable. I highly recommend Rina and Color Haven!

After spending years at Manhattan salons, I stepped in to this neighborhood place about 5 months ago and boy am I happy I did. Rina, the owner, is one of the nicest, kindest service people I’ve met ever. She does a monthly single process for me and is constantly accommodating my crazy schedule — always with a smile. She has great style and I always leave with a terrific blow out (definitely go for the blow out!), waves, etc. Today she did «tips» for my daughter and was so kind throughout the process and the results are unbelievable. I feel lucky every time I go here that I found the place.

Anthony is the best colorist I have found since moving to NYC. He totally fixed my hair after it had been trashed by another stylist who had sold me on what an expert she was on color! I go from brunette to honey blonde every few years, but my latest changeover was a disaster! I came to Anthony quite upset with bleached out/​orangey hair, and he has managed to transform it into a gorgeous dark honey gold. Which is all I wanted in the first place! I also appreciate that they are very reasonably priced, and have never tried to sell me any expensive hair products, which ALWAYS happens. In fact, they recommended me a $ 6 shampoo from a different shop!

Anthony colored my hair, and did a good job covering the roots, and matching my naturally light brown color. What bothered me– as two other reviews mention– was how unclear the pricing was, and how much I ended up paying. They charged me for a single process, a toner (to blend the brown color applied to the roots to the rest of the hair, which always was included at other salons). Blow-​drying was also extra (which I found out after)! It came to $ 140 plus tip!
That is more expensive than the fanciest salons in Manhattan where I got the same stuff done. Color Haven: please be more transparent with your prices!
Btw: Anthony responded to this, but I am not Shira (and do not have thick curly hair, nor did I get an ammoniac-​free treatment, as far as I know).

I LOVE this place. I found them on Unilocal because I wanted to dump my overpriced stuffy salon. And I am soooo happy I did! This rave review is long overdue because they deserve great feedback!
Anthony is my color guru! Simone knows how to cut catered to my needs. And lovely Lena styles me up. Not too mention they all have great personalities and make you feel at home. COME HERE. You won’t be disappointed.

What a great find! Came here on a whim after seeing the reviews and I am sooo happy I did. My hair is naturally dark brown taken up to blonde for the past few years and the past 2 salons I’ve been to have butchered my roots growth (blonde color didn’t match, too streaky of highlights etc) I was looking to tone it down to a brown to blonde ombré so I scheduled an appt with Anthony. After walking out of this salon I felt amazzing with the way my hair looked, felt and was styled. Anthony is amazing– he is super caring, attentive and a perfectionist when it comes to color. I highly recommend him and the salon!

Anthony has been highlighting my hair for several years now. He is terrific, skilled, friendly and fun. If you need your hair colored, highlighted or fixed — this is the guy to see!

Anthony is a hair coloring genius. I’ve been to so many people who don’t listen to what YOU want and just do what they want. Not Anthony. He truly cares about his clients as people, and their hair :)
Even now that I moved to NJ, I still trek back into Brooklyn to see him.

Anthony is the best! Not only is he an absolute genius when it comes to hair color, he is also a kind geninue person who I truly enjoy catching up with every time I visit. He takes the time to sit and chat with you about all of your hair needs and wants, and he won’t let you leave until you are 100% happy with your color. I can’t imagine going anywhere else!

If you don’t know about this little secret place in Cobble Hill then you are missing out! Anthony have me probably the best highlights I have ever had in the 15years I have been coloring my hair. He is worth every penny! He knows what he is doing especially with blondes which is hard. Trust me! Thank you Anthony. You are a rockstar.

How I love thee, let me count the ways. Anthony is such a fantastic colorist, and takes so much time explaining the science behind the coloring process, how to achieve the results you want, and maintain them. He even offered to show me how to do my roots myself at home in between visits — when does that ever happen? I have never had so many compliments on my color, and I have never left a salon loving my hair as much as I did after my first visit to Color Haven.
Yes, they are expensive, but like a tattoo — you get what you pay for. The only way this could be better is if they fed you champagne and strawberries — actually, Anthony, if you read this, please do so.

Color Haven is a beautiful, relaxing, fresh decoration and nice space.
Anthony just gets it. He understand your needs and will tell you frankly whether this will work for you. AND he’s so funny!
Rina is so kind and welcoming, but she also knows how to give you some space, I love that!
I decided I will go every 2 weeks from now on, just because i’m worth it! ;-)
