The Back In The Day Bakery has closed at this location but I understand Coffee Roasters & an eatery called Yum Yum Crema will be opening by the evening of April 3rd for a big Spring Event in the Glory Days Antique store. Will miss Debbie but its my understanding she has decided to pursue her catering business more. Good luck Debbie!

I enjoy this place so much, they have very good food and a great tea selection. Its in the back of an antique shop, so you can browse and eat tasty treats. Also, the people there are always nice. And they serve you’re tea in cute little tea cups! It’s my new favorite tea place.

After reading about Back in the Day in the Register Guard, we got six of us together and made reservations for afternoon tea(reserve 24hrs in advance). This café is located in the back of an antique mall in Springfield, so there will be plenty for you to look at while you enjoy your lunch. Our tea began with two pots of tea: Ginger Peach and Honey Pear, not sure which I prefer, but I love them both. Served in charming, unique tea pots, and really cute mismatched tea cups that really add that antique-y feel. The first food we received was a rich, creamy tomato basil soup with chunks of tomato, and a lemony chicken enchilada soup. I tried both, and again, not sure which I prefer but both were very tasty. Next came the tiered deliciousness that we all know as a High Tea in America, which was the official name at this café, but that should actually be called afternoon tea, since high tea is just the word for a working class dinner. Sorry, pet peeve of mine. The top tier consisted of sublime scones. Just the way I like them: Plain, no fruit in them, soft on the inside, crumbly on the outside, and served with jam and whipped cream. Best scones I ever had, these can’t be beat! And they’re enormous! Next came the sandwiches: A cute round mini BLT, little quiche-like cups, and baked prosciutto-wrapped artichoke hearts. I would prefer traditional cucumber sandwiches, maybe chicken or egg salad too over a BLT. The quiche cups were really delicious to me, though our party was split. They were like quiche only without the egg, just a cup with baked cheese, some spinach or something, bit of ham. I enjoyed it a lot, but some of us found it too dry. The artichoke hearts with prosciutto were amazing, nice salty kick from the ham and a bit of acidity from the artichoke. Nice! The third tier looked gorgeous: Little rose tartlets, so pretty! By this time we felt very full, so I took mine home, but the others enjoyed it. The final tier had cookies and a little bit of what I think was pumpkin cake. Still in my fridge right now, there was just a lot of food! The total cost of the tea is $ 18, which includes the tea itself, and all of the above. As far as I’m concerned that’s a very good deal. Large amounts of food, quality ingredients, homemade, and it’ll keep you busy for an hour or two. I will definitely come back soon for their regular lunch, since the quiche and Mac ‘n Cheese looked amazing. A+ on presentation for everything! And I’ll return for an occasional afternoon tea. Overall this afternoon tea is great for special occasions, birthdays, mother’s day, a special lunch with your mother or girlfriends. Highly recommended! My only real suggestion for improvement is the choice of sandwiches, which I would prefer to be a little more traditional. Also, there’s no ‘accent aigu’ in the word quiche. And please don’t write any more fake reviews, there are nearly ten REALLY obvious fake reviews(even copy-pastes posted under different(!) names), it’s an insult to the intelligence of your customers who want to read real reviews.
