Hey! Where is everybody?! This magnificent park always seems empty, even in the summer. Picnic tables with grills: deserted. Pavilions: empty. Playground with fun climbable structures: unused. Dock on river: creaks lonesomely. Trails: empty. I don’t get it – where did everybody go? When I was a kid this place was packed. Some say everyone now goes to «The Crossings», but I say, phooey. Does this«Crossings» have the Mohawk River running the length of it? Does it have 160 acres of spreading hardwood trees and beautiful rocky shores? Does it have a boat launch? Does it have the Mohawk-Hudson Bike Trail running right alongside it? And there’s no need to pay an entrance fee or wait for the gate to be open. You can always park in the bike trail parking lot just across the street, and walk/bike into the park. Just walk past the gatehouse and follow that road down to the river. If you want to walk/bike on the trails, keep your eyes open for a wooden trail sign on the right, going down the hill. You can also enter the trails behind the pavilion that is closest to the river.(Another set of trails can be found by veering right at the gatehouse onto the bike trail; walk along the bike trail and look for the trails rising up the hill off to the right.)
