Nice retro décor, but could use more of it. Food was great! Fluffy pancakes, eggs were cooked perfectly and bacon was crispy just the way I like it! Big mug of flavored coffee hit the spot and music was fun. I would definitely go back.

I really enjoy visiting The Breakfast Spot for the sense of family and community you get as soon as you walk in the door. It’s clear the owners really care about Cohoes and putting it back on the map as a destination. The food is good and homemade, and features many traditional breakfast dishes. That being said, if you’re looking for a menu that puts creative twists on things, you might be a little disappointed with the selection. Still, you can’t go wrong with the quality of food. Service is great, friendly and prompt. The prices are a little on the higher side.

Visited over the weekend for a late breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. My husband grew up in Cohoes, and we currently reside here so it’s nice to have an option for good food so close to home. The space itself is quaint, and the décor feels authentic to the retro vibe they are going for. Service was great from the moment we walked in the door to when we were leaving. I opted for the french toast breakfast which was two slices of thick brioche bread, two eggs any style, and two pieces of meat. I got my eggs over medium and sausage links as my sides with a side of toast for yolk dipping. I also got a cinnamon sugar flavored coffee which was a very generous serving. Not sure if the refills are free or not since I didn’t get that far. There are a lot of interesting drink options, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. The food options are pretty basic, nothing overly fancy. But, for what you get the quality is definitely there. Prices were maybe a tad bit more than a typical diner, but again the quality makes it worthwhile. We will certainly be returning in the future. Hoping that Cohoes will continue to be revitalized and provide more options for a dependable dining out experience.

Delicious breakfast sandwiches with locally sourced smokehouse ham and Bella Napoli rolls, loaded home fries were outstanding and enjoyed the Bloody Mary’s, excellent!

A solid, basic breakfast in a fun themed establishment. Wildly fluffy pancakes if you are into that. Pretty busy place for cohoes. Had to wait(just a few minutes) on a Sunday morning for a table for two. They had a bajillion flavors of coffee syrups but I was wondering if they had just plain simple for iced coffee. They brought cream with it and told us the sugar was on our table, and I wasn’t feeling persnickety enough to inquire further. I just sucked it up and used Splenda so it would dissolve. So they may or may not have simple syrup. I’ll ask if I go again cause I’m sure you are all just DYING to know. I’m kidding. I know y’all drink Dunkin. It’ll be for my sake.

Yum yum yummmmm! This place is Amazing well priced and everything is fresh and HOMEMADE! The signage is not great but Remsen Street is short. Ya gotta make a plan to go. You will be raving about it just like me!

Great place for a big breakfast. Good portions and great atmostpere. Love it. The staff was super friendly and my coffee was always full. My wife has a gluten allergy and enjoys the gluten free toast. Great addition to Cohoes.

Cool retro all day breakfast spot in Downtown Cohoes. Huge coffees, waffles and breakfast sandwiches. Great owner who touches tables and works the front end. Part of the ongoing revitalization of Remsen Street in downtown Cohoes. Quick service with an old time counter in front. Worth a drive from anywhere in the Capital District. Need more locally owned eateries like this.

As promised, we gave the Breakfast Spot another shot and I’m glad we did. There restaurant was about half full when we arrived Sunday morning and we were seated right away. Service was very friendly and unlike our last visit, it was also very prompt. In fact, I clicked on my stopwatch after we ordered because I wanted to see how long the meal would take to arrive after the long delay during our first visit, but I forgot to check it until we were halfway through eating. I’d guess it was about 10 minutes though from order to eating which is perfect for a breakfast place. This time there were biscuits available and we really enjoyed them. Great flavor, but it would be tough to pick up and eat the sandwich. This biscuit crumbles easily so it’s more of a knife and forker. The sausage, egg and cheese was a good breakfast though. Bacon also tasty. Some sausage gravy over a biscuit would be great, but I’m pretty sure that wasn’t an option. Of note, the kids meals are also a great value. Main dish, choice of meat, home fries or toast and a drink for $ 5.95. The little one enjoyed the slight up-charge to get M&Ms in the pancakes. The final verdict: I’m keeping this at 3 stars, but it’s definitely a solid 3 now. No pity points in this review. We will be back though and there’s definitely a chance we will revise this upwards.

After hearing good things I was eager to try out a new place for breakfast! Their homemade biscuit and sausage patty did not disappoint, especially when 2 eggs and cheddar cheese are added to make it a sandwich. Super filling. I also enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate with real whipped cream on top. The homefries were great, just maybe a little too salty for my taste. Not a cheap breakfast, but excellent quality and flavor. I will be back when they add their lunch menu!

This retro themed spot has a great atmosphere. Lots of cool thing from the 50s. Everyone was super friendly. Great spot with big cups of coffee and lots of flavors to choose from. The sausage, egg and cheese biscuit was amazing! The only thing that didn’t hit the mark was the breakfast potatoes. They were a little soggy and under seasoned.

They’ve done a great job with the retro theme. There’s lots of little details, from the domed muffin trays, to the retro looking Coke fridge, to the lighting and music. It’s a fun space. The staff I interacted with were all courteous and helpful, and the service was prompt. If only they put the same amount of effort into the food. I had the sausage, eggs, & cheese sandwich with a side of home fries, and both were disappointing. My home fries were overcooked. Yet, they were cold. And they were under seasoned. Lots of ketchup was needed to make them palatable. My sandwich didn’t fare much better. The cheddar cheese was bland. The two fried eggs needed salt and pepper. The biscuit had good flavor, but it was soggy, and it literally disintegrated as I attempted to eat it. I ended up having to eat the soggy mess with a fork and knife. The sausage patty was the best part of my meal, with the spice and salt hit one expects of a good breakfast sausage. I really, really, wanted to like The Breakfast Spot. But the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Cold, overcooked potatoes and a soggy sandwich do not make for a good breakfast.

I chose to update my review, as we have been in here a few times since and have not had as many issues. I would recommend a bit less butter/oil and salt when making the eggs(less is more here), and the set-up still makes it a bit difficult to get coffee and drink refills in a timely fashion, as the staff are always running back-and-forth from the front to the back end of the restaurant. That said, we have encountered two new wait staff in recent weeks, and they seem to have helped greatly. I am a bit disappointed to hear that they won’t be extending the breakfast menu at all; we had always assumed the options were so limited because it was the«Soft Opening Menu», and that a full breakfast menu would be released eventually, but it seems they are only adding color and a few possible lunch options. For a place called«The Breakfast Spot», you really expect a vast array of breakfast options, and that just isn’t the case here(it would certainly get us in more often if they did). In any event, I’m hopeful they have a decent foundation and eager enough owners to continue evolving until they really get this place to where I think it has the potential to be. We’ll keep stopping in on occasion in the hopes this will truly become our«spot».

Great new spot that just opened up in cohoes. They serve quality diner style food in a retro themed restaurant that plays music from the 40’s and 50’s. There is a small counter with 5 – 6 stools and a handful of tables so it’s not a huge place. The menu is pretty standard eggs, pancakes, French toast, waffles. I ordered the stuffed trio meat omelette which had bacon, sausage, and ham with American cheese. The sausage was both crumbled and links. I especially liked the crumbled sausage and the eggs themselves had seasoning that made it above average.
