A nice market, set outside on the Boscobel grounds in the summer(the market moves to another location in the winter months). There is a good variety of offerings and the vendors are very nice. You can take your time browsing, and since the vendors tend to know their products, you can ask them just about anything, from«what is this weird looking form of vegetation», to more practical things like«how do I cook it.» If you don’t know what you want specifically, they well even help you find just the right thing, such as finding a fish that works great on the grill or an apple with just the right balance between sweet and tart for your liking. Some vendors even offer samplings and tastings, such as Asian type dressings, baked goods, and honey varieties harvested directly from the area, they really do taste different. Stop by the Carriage House and you can get a free ticket to tour the Boscobel Gardens while the market is taking place.

2.5 stars I’ve been spoiled for a year by the amazing farmers market every Sunday in Baltimore so this FM felt very disappointing. There were only a few vendors selling veggies and everything was too $$$ for what you were getting. There were more specialty stands selling popsicles, flowers, pickles, etc. The backdrop is very gorgeous though, so if anything it’s a good way to get out for some fresh air on a Saturday morning.

I miss you, CS Farmers’ Market! Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, this particular farmers’ market is a petite little gem in Cold Spring. The market runs from May through November, and is a wonderful place to pick up fresh produce. According to their website, they now command a spot at Boscobel House & Gardens on Saturdays during the warmer months. Just think of it: you can shop for delicious food in a beautiful setting! Arise and go, ye happy shoppers! Having had little experience with farmers’ markets, I cannot say whether the Cold Spring Farmers’ Market is of average size as far as farmers’ markets go, but I think comparing it to others is unnecessary. It serves a vibrant small community, and the number of offerings reflect this. However, the produce is terrific and fresh; the baked goods are tempting; there is a fine selection of cheeses; and I could wax poetic about the honey. It is delicious! You could use store-bought honey from that smiling plastic bear, or you could buy farmers’ market honey. Treat yourself, Unilocaler. You won’t regret it. The vendors at the farmers’ market are friendly, and while some prices may be higher than your average supermarket, the quality of the food is much better. I’m giving them three stars only because it has been awhile since I’ve been to the farmers’ market, and my review reflects an experience that was not recent. I hope they are still as nice as I remember them to be, for they were a treat in Cold Spring.

More of a boutique market, than a true farmers market. The cheese guy is always the highlight but bring your ATM card.

Another year and more chances to support local farmiculture at its closest point. The CSFM is back again at the grounds of the old Butterfield Hospital once again with some familiar and even new vendors. Today’s haul was some delicious soft pretzels, epinards, rocket and some strawberry and tomato plants(just in case!). And it is always fun to make new friends and see old ones as no Philipstown resident would miss this market after the winter we all endured. Good food, good times and finally some sunshine. It don’t get no better than that, LOL! ;))))P PS2014 sees a decline in vendors especially my favorite one. Too bad…

I do enjoy a spring(?) day at an open market… my day in Cold Spring was very nice. I wandered to the marketplace hoping for a «farmers» market, but found what might be better described as a «local gardners» market. Each cart held some nice produce, plants and other goodies… but the prices were definitely at the higher end of the farmers spectrum. I did find some very nice honey(at a honey of a price). May is a bit early to expect genuine local farm items… perhaps I will return when the farming season is actually here! Sorry Famers Market…

I am always trying to get there when i can for some fresh local produce. In addition to produce I am always trying to see if the vendor is there with their apple of cherry turnovers — they are purely decadent! Dark crispy and not too sweet. mmmmm!

When it rains on a Saturday morning, and you feel that it is going to be one of those days, make your way over to the Cold Spring Farmers Market and there you will find people that are happy to see you, people that will offer you a product that is cherished by them, a product that feeds not only you, but the them(the farmers) as-well. At the Cold Spring Farmers Market, the sun is always out.(look out for the Farmers Market Pizza)

What I love about this market is that it’s still a short enough drive from my place and bigger than the Beacon Farmers Market. Today, I bought blueberry blossom honey, a little lighter, a bit fruity compared to the more common clover honey. I was looking for herbs, but couldn’t find good mint without bug bites. But then, there were the lovely strawberries, young garlic scapes and green beans. Wonderful produce.
