My husband and I were so excited to have a chinese restaurant in town when we moved to Cold Spring last year. Unfortunately, it was not so good. We went once, had sweet&sour chicken and pork fried rice, got sick, and never went back.

enjoyed ‘the basics’ here, sure, it’s the equivalent of the chinese ‘greasy spoon’ diner, but they’re always pleasant there and it’s pretty decent for the price, and i don’t have to drive there(and once they sold me 2 whole cases of fortune cookies for cost — no joke!)

Pretty Gross. Only do it if you must. I can’t believe they have been around for so long selling this same slop. There is a very distinctively unpleasant scent to everything from this place except maybe the white rice.

Below average-at-best for cheap Chinese take out, but it’s not even that cheap. It took a long time to get my food. I was the only customer in there. The two cooks were finishing up some phone order food when I walked in and by the time I figured out what to order, they were just standing, talking in the kitchen. I ordered with the woman at the counter, who yelled the order back to them. They then proceeded to disappear for 5 minutes or so and then suddenly reappear, continue talking for another minute and then finally start to make my sub-par dish. Plenty of other, better options in the area. Not sure how this place stays open.

Ming Moon isn’t a terrible restaurant. Does it serve the best Chinese food in the world? No, it doesn’t. Is it horrible food? No, it isn’t. But you will never have the opportunity to be disappointed by this place if you keep in mind the fact that Ming Moon will always serve average Chinese food for under $ 10. Average. Not disgusting, yet never spectacular. Average. I’ve gotten take-out here on two occasions. As a previous reviewer noted, consistency is not Ming Moon’s speciality. The first time I had the chicken and broccoli from this place, it was surprisingly decent. The second time it wasn’t all that good, and the chicken tasted vaguely and oddly like ham. Aside from the fact that I don’t know any Chinese dish that requires the use of ham, there remains the all-important fact that chicken should not taste like ham. Beginning and end of story. I will think twice before I order this dish again. The opposite was true of the fried rice that I ordered. The first time it had a distinctly flat taste, while the second time around it was yummy. The only thing that was consistent in both of my orders was the tiny carton of steamed white rice that seems to come with every order. It was pretty good! But then again, it’s steamed rice. It can’t be all that hard to make. Ming Moon isn’t really a sit-down type place, although they have a couple of tables scattered about the harshly decorated dining area. I wouldn’t want to eat here, only because it looks depressing — the stained tile, badly painted walls, dusty glass case filled with cheap figurines. And the tables also give an unsettling view onto the kitchen, which looks even more depressing than the dining area(and dare I say it: a little grimy). Also, the two shabbily dressed cooks look terribly sad — I felt bad for them when I went to pick up my order — and the teenage girl who runs the register looks listless. The kitchen definitely seems depressing, and that alone is a good enough reason for deducting stars from this review. I guess at the end of the day this place really deserves 2 stars, but I just don’t have the heart to give them such a low rating. But depressing or not, this place obviously does some sort of business, because it’s still open in the midst of this economic crises. When I went in one night,(keep in mind I was probably in the place a total of two minutes) there were three take-out orders waiting to be picked up; the phone rang three times; and a woman came in to pick up an order just as I was leaving. So the food may be mediocre and the décor drab, but they’re the only game in town if you’re in Cold Spring and you have a sudden, irresistible craving for Kung Pao chicken.

Went one time and I will never go back. The veggie soup I ordered had the consisitency of motor oil. The lo mein was all right but nothing great. Plus the wait time for the food seemed a little extreme.

Decent Chinese take-out place. Minus stars for Inconsistent quality. Sometimes order is perfect… but you always have a chance to order at a «wrong moment» and same exact food you really enjoyed a week ago will taste very and very mediocre. It never was really bad but a lot of times just ok… instead of VERYGOOD that you already experienced at this place before. I bet consistency is important in any business.
