Colfax Elementary School

This is a great school employed with great people that care about the children and people in their community. The school itself is modern for being in a historical foothill community. Their new Principal cares about the input from the parents and community and is putting together some great cutting edge ideas to better the school itself. They use smart boards in the classrooms, and have a nice computer lab. They integrate web-​friendly communication as well as standard mail and stress the importance of parent teacher communication. I feel that the balance of extra-​curricular activities vs. education is good, and I am excited about some of the proposed changes to offer perhaps more art or music as well as many other ideas. They also have some of the best sports teams in the region. The teachers take pride in their classrooms and in the success of their students and it’s reflected in the achievement of the school at Colfax Elementary.

The school has gotten better (by building a new one in 1993).
Mr. Shuttleworth was principle when I went. He was ok, but sometimes not very understanding.
Steer clear of Mrs. Jones if she is still there (she treats her students as if they were stupid).
Mrs. Griffin and Mr. Adams are great teachers!
