The empanadas are really good. They fry them fresh. I haven’t tried the rest of their dishes yet but plan to be back soon.

This place is horrible. I checked it out because I’ve had food from the woodside location a few times. They get my order wrong and try and convince me that it was my mistake. I show a little frustration but decide not to send it back because I was so hungry. Check comes and the waitress has included tip in the total which is not normal. The description for our table also says«chinitos mesa» I’M JAPANESE. I ask for plates for me and a friend of mine who also couldnt eat his subpar meal but wanted to save it for his dog. Nope, no plates. HOWDOES A PLACENOTHAVEPAPERPLATES? I have also been to Mangu up the block. Although both places were similar and not that good, Mangu has the slight edge in food taste and service. Stay away from both places if you can just go over a latin friend’s house for authentic delicious latin food.

Their chicken is ok. Their rice has an odd taste to it. Their french fries are also good. I don’t recommend the yuca.

Worst service ever! I went out to eat with my 4 year old nephew. Some guy at the front told us to take a seat anywhere we wanted so we went to sit down. Another couple came after us and the servers went to greet them and asked if they wanted to drink anything? I’m sitting there waiting and the servers just kept walking by me and the 4 year old who was patiently waiting until like 10 minutes later he asks me what’s taking them forever? He said lets go they are ignoring us. I got up and as I walked out I told the server and the guy who told me to sit anywhere thank you for being so generous and taking our orders. The guy was like sorry I’ll get your food out fast. I clearly won’t go and eat from that place ever again. The servers think they are the big shit and ignore people. I went across the street to the bakery/restaurant the servers weren’t impressed when I told them the situation. Bad bad service!!! Go across the street if you want good service and good food!!!

I absolutely love this place. My boyfriend and I stop by very often when we don’t feel like driving far. The food is so full of flavor. Tastes like it was made back home(Colombia). Service is always awesome everyone is genuinely super nice. The place is not all that but everything truly makes up for it.

Having lived there for 5 years, I learned College Point isn’t a hotbed of choice restaurants and hip n’ happenin hangout spots. If it weren’t for my friend’s suggestion that we grab dinner here, I would’ve never thought to spend any time on College Point Blvd when Flushing is just a 20+ min bus ride away(ugh). Luckily, I did because the food was amazing. I ordered the Bandeja Tipica, and I was as giddy as a schoolgirl when I saw the amount of food on my plate when it came out. The meat. The beans. And the plantains… DAMN, I love those things. Each bite was a heartwarming dose of heavenly flavor. If you’re ever in the area, stop by.

Despite the reviews, I decided to give it a try, but believe me, no one is lying about the ever lasting delivery wait. I was searching for a latin food place that delivers taking a break from cooking for one night and boy, after I called I could have started, finish and done the dishes. Called exactly at 5:49. Ordered a whole chicken, side of beans and chicharron. They said half an hour. After patiently waiting I called at 7:10 to know what is happening and the delivery boy called me to come get the food downstairs at 7:22. Do the math: 1hr 33 mins for a delivery a few blocks away. The chicken was supposed to be $ 8.50, beans $ 2.50 and chicharron $ 3.75 total: $ 19.60 ??? I wouldn’t mind if worth it but everything was completely bland. I gave it 2 stars because the food appeared to be clean and it got here super hot but other than that it was a total failure. Never again

Their food taste good I’m not going to lie. But here is why they deserve one star: Once, they gave me the wrong order, I tried to call back but they don’t pick up. I called the delivery guy back and he came back and asked why they wouldn’t pick up their phone. No answer. They are always late; they take at least 45 minutes to deliver. And today, they took my order over the phone, and its been 1 hour and 20 minutes since I ordered, and no one called, no one showed up and they don’t pick up their phone. I called them after it passed 45 minutes. Who runs this place? What a joke!

This place has awesome food. I would have given it five, but they never have Pina Coladas when I go in, and sometimes the waitresses have a bit of an attitude. The owner is a great guy. Very attentive, always tries to get to know his customers and make sure that all is well with the food. I never have complaints about the food because it most certainly is delicious :) The wait time for the food is average. Most restaurants I go to have a wait time of about 15 – 20 minutes for food. Like I said, it’s delicious so I can’t complain. Now, I wouldn’t suggest ordering a delivery. Last time I ordered food to be delivered, the food didn’t taste as well, and I was given a little of everything. I even asked for a separate order of avocado, and I got barely anything. Money not well spent. They do have TVs, and this cute little area that most people mention as the VIP area, because it’s a bigger table with cushioned seats and pillows. If you enjoy eating out in a simple environment and love great Colombian food, this is the place to go!

This is one of those locations you’ll just pass by and not notice, or at the least keep in the back of your head, if you weren’t interested in eating with an aim for a small local Latin/Columbian restaurant(even though there are more than one locations). The reason is because it’s located in between a line of other stores. «Mr. Chicken» is so randomly located. It does not stick out much, well maybe a little because their logo is a big cartoon version of a chicken with a top hat. The ingredients are so basic, no messing around with the food, what’s on your plate is see-ably what it is. What you see is what you get. However, it’s made very good, delicious. When you dine in, your platter selection, you’re get a variety that may include beans, an egg, a fried plantain, a salad, rice on the side. The roasted chicken is decent, nothing extraordinary but plain good food. They have Yuca! My favorite is the Chicharron that accompanies the meal, I had Chicharron before elsewhere but Mr. Pollo makes it a little bit better. That fried pork fat with it’s crisp rind: Homer Simpson drool: I never ordered it delivered because I like dining in. I don’t know about for dinner, but the lunch crowd is scarce when dining in, you can usually choose your own table by asking because the place is close to empty. We usually take what we consider the V.I.P. table. If not taken, it’s a table slightly separated from the other seats, elevated up by one step(meant for a group). This tables has seats with pillows and the tables are decorated. The service is not fast but not slow either, somewhere on the medium expected side of any restaurant. The portions are what’s called huge, big, plateful, filling. When you leave the place, you won’t feel hungry or dissatisfied. Of course they have this awesome apple soda called Postobon in Pink, so bubbly and these little bottles of juices that I forget the name of that are very refreshing.

If you don’t speak Spanish, good luck placing your order over the phone. And one day they actually told me that I would have to wait an hour and a half to get chicken because they ran out. Huh? I mean, the name of your store translates into«Mr. Chicken» so one would think you’d have a supply of that handy. Prices are pretty high now also. One whole chicken, small beans and small rice is now about $ 16.00. Chicken is tasty, though, when they get it right.

A great little neighborhood spot, never too crowded and they deliver(!!), my favorite part. Everything on the menu is pretty much well above average and can’t really go wrong with anything. If Tripe Stew scares you(it scares me a little), I recommend the steak and the Rotisserie Chicken. The hostess has always has a little bit of attitude toward me for some reason and will always help the Latino customers before me, although I was there first. But that’s just a personal complaint.

I used to go here all the time when I lived in College Point. I’d bring my friends, and everyone loved the food, the bright, orange and yellow walls, and friendly service. We’d hang out and talk, and never feel rushed. The walls are decorated with paintings and various arts and crafts, which is a cool way to get immersed more of your senses into Columbian culture. For meals, I’d usually get the chicken platter(¼ chicken, salad, chicken consomm, French fries and rice). Or, if I felt hungry or wanted to share, I’d get the Mr. Pollo Platter (grilled beef, ¼ chicken, pork loin, pork rinds, corn cake, rice, beans, sweet plantain and salad). The chicken is juicy! The rice that comes with it is flavored with chicken broth or drippings, not sure which, but either way, yummy… The corn cake is bland and skippable. The salad that comes with the platter is kind of boring, with few ingredients – lettuce, tomato, etc. – but good to balance a meal. The chicken consomm, if I recall correctly, had chicken and chicken parts(liver, etc), and small cubes of carrots and potatoes. Oh, and I loved the fried casava! I had the steamed cassava once(which came with this tomato stew thing), but fried is better. It’s like a more fibrous version of French fries. Oh, and the chorizo sausages were delicious – salty as hell, but had the right blend of spices. Check out their menu at . Now that I’m in North Flushing, the closest Columbian joint is Rincon Antioqueno, which is a sad comparison(see review).

You probably have never been to College Point, Queens. Getting there involves taking the 7 train to the last stop, and then taking a 20 minute bus ride. That being said, if you’re ever in the neighborhood, Mr. Pollo is definitely your go-to lunch spot. They serve delicious Colombian food(which is not the same thing as Mexican food you dumb, insensitive gringo). I always order the steak(at Mr. Pollo this is ironic, yes?) and an apple soda. The Colombian music videos they show on the TV are awesome.
