I am somewhat disappointed after finally visiting this place. It is OK, but not as good as the newer location on Freedom Blvd. The food is fine, but the rest of the experience is so-so. The menu appearance is rather confusing.(And that’s after I am already familiar with the offerings at the other location.) E.g. I couldn’t figure out what’s in the namesake«Flip» burger, Also, I couldn’t find the full list of the burgers, only the special combinations posted on the back wall. The lady behind the counter asked me 3 times about what I wanted, while I said that I was looking-deciding, and hasn’t indicated otherwise after that. With all that she sounded annoyed that I am still not ready to place the order. So, I decided not to ask her any questions about the burgers, just got the«flip». I might try it at some point again, but… Not liking this mall(despite the renovation that I’ve heard of), I don’t expect that would happen very soon.

Not good… my burger was slathered with mayo amd mustard… took me 4 napkins to wipe it all off… patties are thin… no taste except for a ton of salt… their signature ketchup mayo was not tasty… very disappointed.

First time trying Flip & Peel and I’ve been missing out! Their burger was awesome. The bacon was crispy, the veggies were fresh and the right amount and the sweet potato fries were perfection. I will most definitely be going back! Just wish I didn’t have to go to the mall to get it! :-)

Not anything like the old place, Stover Brothers. Burgers not as tasty, sauce not as tasty and price not impressive. The two girls working there did not know much about the menu.

I had the double bacon cheeseburger. I loved it! The meat is kinds like the patties at Freddie’s. The sweet potato fries are so yummy. Their bourbon caramel sweet potato fries are even better. Try them out, you won’t be disappointed.

I had the goddess burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was very tasty! Fries were nice and hot. I liked the dipping sauce as well. My daughter had the flip burger and fries. She really like the fries. That said, they totally messed up our«special order». Hers worse than mine. She wanted plain and dry, no cheese, but they put cheese on her burger. The only reason I bring it up is to say how apologetic and gracious they were in fixing the problem. Mr. Stover brought out her correct burger upgraded to a double and apologized. He also gave us a coupon for a free burger on our next visit and they gave us the messed up burger to take home. The wait for the order was a little long, but worth it. All in all it was a great experience.

I have known the creator of Flip and Peel since he began his burger business on Boonville road back in 2008, when you could get the«deal» which was 3 burgers for 4.99. He has come a long way since then, but still puts out a great burger. I still miss the dog pile. This was no exception, split a Flip Cheeseburger with fries with my daughter. It was very flavorful and you could tell the ingredients were all fresh. The meat had a great caramelized crust, but was tender and moist. Lettuce, tomato and grilled onions all in the right proportions. The flip sauce tops it off. Damn good burger.

Did not live up to expectations. Didn’t fill order correctly. Service was nice but didn’t make up for the food which left MUCH to be desired. Just go to Grub.

I hate burgers! I got the da Vinci. It was delicious. Turkey burger and portobello mushroom. My husband got the double bacon burger; I tried it. It was delicious and very cheesy. Remember that I hate burgers. Fries? I love fries. The sweet potato fries were crispy and delicious, and the house fry sauce is awesome. The pulled pork fries were a bit too much to have with the burger but they taste good. I plan to go back and try the raspberry nutella dessert fries. If you’re ever in the mall, just check them out :)

The BBQ pork queso fries are out of this world. They make my mouth so happy. The double bacon cheeseburger is a long time favorite around my household, and if you haven’t tried the famous Charlie Stover Double Bacon Cheeseburger, get off your duff and book it over to Post Oak Mall. Take a friend and split some fries. You’re welcome.

Finally made it back to Flip & Peel, in part because I felt a bit guilty about leaving a 3-star review to which I wasn’t fully committed. This time I read the menu carefully and avoided the carnitas burger with its crumbled meat. Instead I got the double bacon cheeseburger, adding the jalapeño cheese bread, with a side of the small bbq pork fries, and an iced tea. The burger was pretty tasty, though a bit salty. The patty itself was a bit overwhelmed tastewise, but that’s just sort of what I predict in this type of burger… and it probably wasn’t helped by the jalapeño flavor of the optional bun.(Though I do love jalapenos.) Now if it had a single thick patty, maybe that would stand up a bit better. The burger was also a bit too salty overall, and I think their special sauce was muddying the flavors a bit. It was a nice size, not too big to fit in my mouth, and definitely plenty for lunch. The bacon was quite nice. So I’d put this burger about on par with those at Stover Bros, but just a bit behind those at Grub/Veritas/Chef Tai truck. The bbq pork fries were also pretty tasty, and it’s so good to see restaurants jazzing up fries.(I’m drooling at you, Luau fries at Grub!) These were a bit thinner than I like my fries, and did have some flavor, but not that delicious addicting je né sais quoi that is the holy grail of sinful fried potato goodness.(I pine for that flavor.) They were mildly crispy, and overall quite easy to eat. The toppings on the bbq pork fries are queso, bbq sauce, pulled pork, bacon, and a few slices of pickle. Like with the burger’s sauce, I felt like the queso sort of muddled everything up, hiding the other flavors without bringing any benefit of its own. Unfortunately, the pulled pork didn’t really shine, but the bacon was a nice touch. The iced tea was medium-weak. I drank it, but it didn’t have that bite that you get with good strong tea. Summing up my two trips here: If you’re in the mall, get hungry, and a burger would do you fine(maybe with some jazzy fries), go for it; it’s A-OK. While I’m glad to see such a place at the mall, unfortunately I feel like what I got wasn’t quite the thoughtfully created burger w/fries I wanted. If you’re not at the mall and you want a burger, I’d put Flip and Peel in my second tier with Stover Bros. Stover Bros burgers are a bit gloppier(in a good way if you’re looking for that) and with more of a patty presence, but Flip & Peel has more interesting fries and good bacon. My first tier for burgers is Grub, Veritas for lunch, and the Chef Tai truck.

I don’t always go to eat at the mall, but when I do I head straight to the food court to grab a bite at College Station’s newest gourmet burger joint, Flip and Peel. Actually, «I don’t always eat at the mall» is a quite the understatement. I hardly ever enter malls, much less stick around for dinner in the food court. However, I now find myself craving burgers and fries every time I drive down Harvey past Post Oak Mall. Flip & Peel isn’t co-founder Charles Stover’s first rodeo in the restaurant biz. He has opened and operated several successful Brazos Valley restaurant concepts, from burger joints to fine dining establishments. Stover’s reputation for creating objects d’ deliciousness had his many fans flocking to the mall to try Flip & Peel as soon as it opened, this reviewer included. Flip & Peel’s menu certainly did not disappoint. It features a well curated collection of gourmet burgers, salads and fries, that range from the traditional Deluxe Diner Burger to the just plain crazy sounding Nutella Crunchberry Fries. On my most recent visit, I kept it healthy with the Goddess Burger which features a turkey patty, provolone, grilled onions and sweet goddess dressing. Good choice! Planning to go back more regularly now that I’ve tried the«healthy option» on the menu and absolutely loved it. The service was awesome as usual and I noticed he added a flat screen TV tuned to ESPN for those who don’t want to miss a play while they eat or while their significant other shops and shops… and shops. I don’t eat burgers or fries very often because I like all the pants I own and don’t want to but new, larger ones. When I do, I don’t waste the calories with fast food junk. I go for a good local burger joint like Flip and Peel where I’ve now had occasion to try some of the«good stuff» on the menu, loaded with delicious calories… thousands of ‘em, I’m sure… like their famous Bacon Double Burger. I’m not being hyperbolic, the burger is really famous, a carry-over from former Stover restaurant, that earned it’s own write up Texas Monthly. Tasting the celebrity burger, you will likely agree its fame is well deserved. The New Republic Pulled Pork Fries, drenched in queso, New Republic BBQ Sauce and topped with grilled onions, played a beautiful symphony of flavor on my palette. ‘Twas the shortest symphony ever, because I scarfed those things down in a matter of minutes. It’s hard to pause for a breath when the food is that tasty. While the mall food court is usually reserved for a quick nutrition breaks while mall walking or power shopping, Post Oak’s is starting to see much more traffic as a dining destination in itself thanks to Flip & Peel’s culinary awesomeness.

Like how they now have options for the buns. Upgraded a double bacon cheeseburger to the jalapeño cheese bread for .49. The other bun isn’t bad at all but this was a pleasant surprise as an option. Burgers were most excellent as always.

Got the da Vinci burger, hubs got the carnitas burger and we split the fiery Diablo fries. Sincerely one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. Had a bite of hub’s burger and that tasted pretty great too. The fries were a bit too much after the burger but still was tasty. Would recommend and come again next time we’re in the area

After a poor experience in February, I thought I would never step foot in the food court of Post Oak Mall(all of the options there are unbelievably depressing…) but the owner of Flip and Peel generously offered me a refund if I returned. I ordered the Bacon Double Cheeseburger this time around with regular fries. Absolutely outstanding! The bun was fresh and the bacon was extra crispy. One of the best burgers I have had in a while. I am now happy to support this company and I believe you should too!

I have been interested in trying this place the moment I heard it was being opened and that it was another(fast food/casual) restaurant from Charles Stover(Stover Bros café). I read everyone’s reviews and was slightly wary from the low ratings and the«meh» responses people gave to the food. Nevertheless, I wanted to see for myself whether or not this burger joint was good or not. Brazos VIP deals had a deal for a buy one get one free burger recently, so that shot me from passively wanting to try the place out to actively wanting to try it out. Basically, halving my risk of a potentially bad experience or doubling my satisfaction if it became a good experience. My BF and I went in at lunchtime on Monday. Approaching the counter(unfortunately, on my crutches due to an ankle fracture I just got yesterday… T_T), I recognized the man behind the cash register. It was Charles Stover himself! Excitedly, I hobbled forward to ask him if he is Charles Stover. Happily, the man replied that he was. I basically expressed my interest in all his food businesses and we kept a nice conversation. Then, we ordered. I got the Goddess burger(turkey patty, provolone, arugula, fire roasted sweet tomatoes, grilled onions, wheat bun, $ 6.59 or so). My BF was contemplating to get either the Carnitas or the Double Bacon Cheeseburger($ 7.59 or something). Charles Stover was really honest as he suggested getting the Double Bacon Cheeseburger over the carnitas, because that was featured on Texas Monthly and is a customer favorite. You could tell, that although this was his restaurant, he would be willing to tell you what he thinks is better than other options, rather than tell you everything is good). He also explained that he doesn’t eat red meat anymore, and so developed the healthy Goddess burger(~400 calories) with turkey meat that was massaged and spiced in a way that makes it taste like a classic burger patty. Quite a lofty claim there; I had to confirm this. Being so nice, Charles Stover treated us to some nutella raspberry fries. I will get to this ~amazing!~ concoction in a bit… Goddess burger: turkey patty was pounded real flat and thin. It was pounded too flat and wide that the burger bun did not even cover it. The arugula underneath the patty was wilted and warm, as though it had been cooked with the burger. I was expecting a green colored Green Goddess dressing, but it was topped with a white«goddess» dressing. Not sure what’s supposed to be in it, because I don’t think I could place a particular flavor coming from it. There were also the roasted tomatoes on the bottom. These were bomb. I really liked them in the burger, just the right amount added. The turkey patty was good. It was very juicy, so I have to say they did make it in a way that I probably would not have been able to tell if apart from a beef burger, other than the lighter color. But there was nothing else particularly standout. Overall, it was a very tasty burger that I enjoyed, but I just wish my greens were not wilted from the heat. Bacon Double Cheeseburger: my BF enjoyed his burger. I looked at it and it looked like quite the beast; multi-layered and tall. He said that it was a very good burger, but he wouldn’t pay about $ 8 for it. Granted, we are Asians, recently graduated, but yes, $ 8 is a bit pricey. I took a small bite and it was tasty. The bacon was crisped just right. I do have to say that these burgers did feel and look like they were just a bit more greasy than Grub, but not disgustingly. It was fine to me, and I don’t like greasy food. Now, the awesomest part of this lunch: the NUTELLARASPBERRYFRIES. These are thing sweet potato fries, drizzled with nutella sauce, raspberry sauce, powdered sugar, and Cap’n Crunch Berries. I was like«There are crunch berries in my fries!!! o.0 … :-D «I ate only half of my burger so I could eat a lot of these fries. You fork these fries, and I really had to stop myself from eating the whole thing before my BF even finished his burger. They were sooo sooo sooo good. The fries were not oily, they were crisp. Everything went together just so well. And it didn’t taste like a sugar overload(although I’m sure they were) because of the way the sweet potatoes temper the sweetness. I would totally return to buy this again and be a total big and eat it all by myself. Charles Stover also let me take a picture with him and came by to ask how everything was and if we were enjoying everything. Super nice and attentive owner. You can see how he responds to the other Unilocalers in the tips on this page. He seeks to address any issues customers have had with any of his products. In total, the burgers were tasty but just a tiny bit expensive, the dessert fries were one of the most amazing things I’ve eaten in a while, and the personal customer service provided by Charles Stover made this dining experience so enjoyable and a reason for me to return.

WOW! BESTBURGERINTHEBRAZOSVALLEY! This place is amazing. Charles Stover was warm and inviting and his food was fabulous. Listen folks – you pay for what you get! The price is extremely reasonable for the quality/amount of food you receive. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Keep up the great work, Flip & Peel! A++

Flip and Peel is the first and only restaurant to make me actually want to go to the mall food court to eat. The fourth generation(call it Stover 4.0) of Charles Stover’s restaurant experiments is a definite winner. Originality is king for Charles and this restaurant is definitely that. Expect to have your tastebuds blown off with flavor and an overall fun experience. Yes, I realize I’m talking about a restaurant in the mall but don’t be fooled. This place has some of the best food in College Station. Exotic options such as Nutella Crunchberry fries(yes, the cereal makes an appearance) or other slightly less wild choices like the Bourbon Caramel Sweet Potato fries make for good options. The restaurant, like the title would suggest, is divided into 2 categories, flipped burgers and peeled fries. Both the burgers and the fries are large enough to be meals on their own. Your best option is to bring a friend and have each of you get a burger and split an order of one of the specialty fries. You’ll want to be back multiple times to try all the possible combinations. Even if you receive a mixture of laughter and pitied looks when you suggest going to eat at the mall food court, don’t let that get in the way of an amazing dining experience. I’ve brought many friends to Flip and Peel and it’s always been a lot of fun.

Having been a fan of the original stover boys burgers when it was connected to a gas station, and also a current fan of stover bros café in village food, I had high expectations. I was very disappointed. I ordered the«Da Vinci Burger» which is beef, portobella, provolone, marinated onions, arugula, and roasted tomatoes on ciabatta. The beef to bread ratio was definitely off. All I tasted was the bread. My friend ordered the«carnitas burger» which has beef, chopped carnitas, grilled onions, pickled jalepenos, guacamole, and sour cream on ciabatta. In comparison, this tasted better than the da vinci, but still not exciting. Both our burgers were less than warm. We shared the«nutella crunchberry fries» which is sweet potato fries with nutella, raspberry sauce, crunchberries(captain crunch and fruity pebbles), and powdered sugar. It was unique but would have been better without the fries. Again, nothing exciting. For being in the mall, the prices are high. I doubt this place will last long. I will try this place again, maybe going with a regular burger and also diablo fries. I’m hoping the diablo fries are the same from the orignal stover boys.

The food was delicious. We had a bacon double, diablo fries, bourbon caramel fries, and a kid’s meal. The service was very good. The kid’s meal was a great deal for the quality and amount of food. The portions on the diablo and bourbon caramel fries were huge. I could have had just the diablo fries as a meal so I am glad we were sharing. The cut of the fries is great– they are thin but very crispy and held up well to all of the toppings. This is absolutely not a comparable restaurant to FatBurger or McDonald’s. Their obvious comparison in town would be Grub. I think if you look at the menu you will be able to tell what this place is about. I think the prices are totally fair for the quality of food.
