We went here for a Valentine’s Day dinner and found the place all done up with candles and roses. The sushi was delicious, and there was a nice selection. In this town, sushi tends to mean sauced-up rolls with avocado or cream cheese or something, so it was nice that the focus here seemed to be on the nigiri. I’m pretty picky about Japanese places since I used to live in Japan, and this is currently my favorite one in town.

Had a pretty terrible lunch experience here. Food was good so I’ll probably give it another shot another time.

Tip 1: Come for lunch, which they have on the weekends also. I stopped by there randomly with a friendly because we needed groceries and some food that was already prepared.(It’s in the same parking lot as HEB) I definitely wasn’t expecting lunch specials on a Saturday but they had a large selection! Tip 2: get the bento box. You can select one, two, or three main items. –I can put down some food– two items was way more than enough. I got one of their rolls and teriyaki chicken. Both were excellent! The bento box also came with a salad, soup, steamed rice, and an orange. Truly this place was much more than I expected it to be and I will definitely be returning. The service was also spot on.

Best sushi in college station. Their tuna rolls are actually made out of whole pieces of tuna and not the tuna mush you generally find around here. They have a $ 13 sushi lunch special that is one of the best deals in town. Highly, highly recommend.

I love the sushi here! The staff is great. I ordered the sushi boat and WOW that was special. It was beautifully presented. A very special birthday dinner I won’t forget any time soon! They even brought me free fried ice cream at the end. I highly recommend this place for sushi in College Station. The staff was friendly and attentive, the restaurant was not crowded when we went which I was thankful for. Great birthday celebration.

We’ve gone twice now, and both have been just okay. The sushi isn’t horrible, but some of the items on the menu were clearly frozen and tossed in a fryer or microwave prior to serving. Namely the spring rolls. For the same price you can get freshly rolled spring rolls elsewhere in town. The quality of the sushi itself was okay, but my main contention is that it didn’t set itself apart from the competition in town to justify the price. For the same amount spent there are more delicious options in BCS. If I didn’t feel like driving across town to go to some of the other options I’d come here. Otherwise I’ll pass.

My favorite sushi restaurant in College Station! They are fresh, fast and cheap. Very friendly staff and it is never crowded. Lunch specials are insane.

Has long been my favorite Asian Bistro… Their food is truly some of the best you will find in the BCS area. 45 min after ordering and everyone finishing there food… The waiter asks if we need any thing else? My food!!! Jonathon was nice enough to offer to take it off my bill. Not once did he apologize or offer to make it right. The 1st time in my life that I didn’t leave a tip!!!

Upon arrival we had to wait to be seated, ask for a menu, ask for our order to be taken and had to ask for our check. It was an hour after we arrived that our food was served. The drinks had very little ice. The salad bowl was filled with water. People that arrived after us were served their food and beverage before we were. Not going to waste my time going back.

They mess up my order every single time. Never order food to go because they wait until you show up to make it.

This is my go-to sushi place. The sushi is reasonably priced and delicious. Kamei Sushi & Grill have a unique American take on their sushi but still keep some Japaneseness in there. The fried ice cream is also amazing, it’s the best I’ve found in town. It doesn’t seem to be very popular or known(which is weird because they have good food) though so there is always a seat available.

I’m never disappointed when I eat here! I’ve tried several different rolls as well as a few other menu items and everything has always come out great. The service is almost always on point, aside from the few times I’ve been when the place was packed. Also, the tempura green tea ice cream is the best!

Had a chance to return here after an absence and the place is still outstanding. It is one of two great sushi bars in the Brazos Valley with a great selection of nigiri and maki options, There was the ever elusive, hard to find uni last night and it was extremely fresh. It is worth the trip for those that live in Bryan and College Station to make the trip out to South College Station for some of the best sushi around.

I moved to the bcs area from California and I was pretty upset with the sushi around the area until I found this place. They have a good variety of special rolls along with the local favorites. You can taste the quality in the fish they use. Definitely the best sushi in town.

I’ve been going to this restaurant for three and a half years. Thanks to Greg D.‘s review back in 2011, I’ve noticed this place back then. I like this place, and of all sushi places in BCS, I come here most frequently. What is good here: 1. It has the best price-to-quality ratio. 2. It has a pleasant setting and a casual atmosphere. so that you can come with a family and kids. What can be further improved: 1. The quality of the service has varied. We’ve had perfect service(including our most recent visit here), but we also had very terrible service(from the waiting staff). In some cases, the owner had to come to rescue. For some reason, there is a frequent turnover for both the sushi chef(s) [besides the owner], and the waiting stuff. I guess, that’s a part of BCS specifics: abundance of cheap labor [with more than one meaning](primarily students) and lack of longevity(students). Unfortunately, I haven’t seen the same good server more then twice. Tonight I saw a great improvement, and I hope it is not just a fluctuation. 2. On a few occasions here, I’ve had sashimi that was less than fresh. While the owner was typically very polite and somewhat apologetic in those cases, I am surprised that it happened twice to me. As it was said in one good old book, «there is only one level of fish freshness». Overall, sashimi is good, but it is not«top notch». Philosophical comment: During my trip to Japan, one of my Japanese colleagues asked me if I’d had«sushi» or «fish on rice» the night before. I think Kamei is at the crossover between the two categories.(And in that sense, very unfortunately, none of the sushi restaurants in BCS is advanced enough to be exclusively«sushi» restaurant when it concerns raw-fish offerings.)

Have eaten here several times in the last month and I can tell you, the average Unilocal rating for this place is WRONG! My wife is Japanese, a prominent Unilocaler Jim M. whoms reviews can always be trusted and we say it’s 5 stars. He knows Japanese food, so do we and I think there may be something going on where the less than favorable reviews are actually accidental for Azure Fusion Bistro & Sake down the highway at the next exit. Everything anyone has said less than great for this place, seems to exactly match Azure Fusion Bistro & Sake. So ya’ll please check the names of what you are reviewing, because some of the comments for this place are not accurate and once again seem to be for Azure Fusion Bistro & Sake. This is KAMEISUSHI&GRILL We name it the BESTSUSHI in College Station for 2014. Enjoy the photos of what we ate. Outstanding friendly service at the sushi bar, every time. Top notch quality, easy parking.

I hate tell anyone about this place because I want to keep it a secret. But it is the best sushi restaurant in College Station Tx. So fresh and loved the service. Everyone there makes you feel that you are important and all with a smile! Favorite roll is the HURRICANE!

This place has pretty good sushi. The chef really makes it look beautiful. Tried the sweet roll, can’t think of the name, but it was SUPER sweet and ruined my appetite. Other than that they are ok.

Fresh sushi, flavorful dishes, and great staff. Always fresh blue fin and the best calamari in town.
