I often use words like«top-notch» and«best» becasue if my experience is not on one end of the scale or the other, I don’t feel compelled to write a review. This place still evokes the same feelings I had when wrote about it 12+ months ago. It will change the way you view asian cuisine unless your a west coast ex-pat where this may be the status quo. When I go, I tell the Owner what kind of food I want(fish, beef, etc.) and/or if I’m in the mood for a traditional Vietnamese soup, and she’ll suprise me. I am never disappointed. I would eat here daily if it were possibleto do so. Also, get a «Hui» vietnamese beer; I’ve never seen it anywhere else and is very good. It’s similar to a pilsner — light malts, light-to-medium hops. She even got my little girls to eat skewered beef and rice(a feat that is worth mentioning on its own considering they prefer a diet of chicken tenders and fries at EVERY restaurant!). GONOW if you’ve not been. The Owner is retiring and the place will be closing in the months ahead(exact date is yet to be determined).

We ordered phở, fried rice, BBQ pork spring rolls, & fried fish in curry sauce that wasn’t on the menu. Everything was pretty good. Fried rice was just ok. wouldn’t order it again. The fried catfish in curry sauce that another reviewer suggested was my fav. not our favorite Vietnamese restaurant but thought the food was good. our favorite is still phở binh hoa and noodle star.

I go here mostly for the phở. On a good day, the phở is great, but they seem to have some consistency issues. One day, the broth will be very well seasoned and perfectly spiced, and on another day it will taste watery and bland. Saigon Le on Cleveland is owned by the same family and much more consistent, but it is a far drive from my house. If you get the phở, order the small version. It is the same size as the large, but at a lower price point. I think they try to pass it off as large, by serving the same portion size in a deeper bowl. Another good item is the fried egg roll. It’s different that most other egg rolls you get at asian restaurants in that I think they are using lumpia wrappers instead of egg roll wrappers. The result is a shatteringly crisp skin that holds a filling full of mushrooms, cabbage, and pork. This is also the only place where I will use sweet and sour sauce, because theirs is so good, containing slivers of white onion that work beautifully with the roll. Like the phở, the lemongrass chicken is hit or miss. One day it’s great and the next, the chicken will taste not so fresh and kind of gamey, which is really bad when you’re talking about chicken. I wish they would stop burning incense when you eat.

I was looking forward to this place based on recent online reviews. But at 6:30 on a Friday it was empty, dark, and depressing. An overweight teenage Asian girl shuffled to our table and shoved two menus at us, then walked away without a word. We ordered the bacon shrimp appetizer which was delicious. The noodles served in a seriously dented red dish were also fabulous. Unfortunately, my view was of the dirty bus cart hung with damp rags. Our waitress apparently lost in Facebook at the counter was, despite this, prompt with our food. As we were leaving, the lights came on leaving the place a little cheerier. I won’t go back. A dreary, dreary place.

Tired of the same old Chinese Buffet food. New Que Huong always has the freshest ingredients! If you don’t know what to order ask«Sassy» to fix you something special. You can’t go wrong with the soups, noodle dishes and catfish in clay pot. Come on Collierville, be open to something new!

My wife loves the phở here, but I got sick after eating it and haven’t been back. The wait staff was a bit too unprofessional for my tastes as well.

I’ve never written a help review until now but this place compelled me to break my silence. I walked in and was immediately Welcomed and seated. The First thing I noticed was the friendly staff. I was promptly given a water and a menu. The waitress asked if I’d like an appetizer so I asked for her recomendation. She told me the beef spring roles were good so I took her suggestion. I then ordered some shrimp and chicken ramen. The spring rolls were brought out and they were huge. The normal noodles, carrots, lettuce were all there plus a large, grilled strip of beef. The combination of favors and texture made each bite interesting and savory. There is no excuse not to try these, they’re only $ 5.00! My noodles came out hot and delicious. The portion was perfect, I’m a big guy and could barely finish, though I was pushing it because they tasted so fantastic. Normally, to me, noodles are just kind of filler around the meat and veggies. These noodles were different. They tasted so flavorful that they were every bit as precious as the plentiful shrimp and strips of chicken. The dish was served with a spicy broth for dipping. Words cannot describe how much I enjoyed these noodles. The staff could tell I enjoyed their food and they gave me a couple of samples of some other dishes. Everything was great, 95% of the dishes are under $ 10 and the food was made by people who really enjoy other people trying their amazing creations. Please check this place out if you live in town, most cities have nothing close to this good. Did I mention how friendly the staff was?

I am a regular, and love the lower calorie, healthy options available through the Vietnamese Soups portion of the menu. The beef is identifiable as beef, the chicken looks like chicken– something we don’t always see in Asian food, and the flavors are clean. The rice paper spring rolls are traditional and taste fresh, their peanut sauce is just right. My children typically eat the stir-fried udon with chicken and vegetables, which is great reheated in the microwave the following day. As far as Vietnamese restaurants go, this is the cleanest I’ve ever seen. Outside of the typical urban setting Memphians are used to, New Que Hong offers fresh, delicious food at reasonable prices, and plenty of free, safe parking. Regarding the service, customers should have a sense of humor and be polite! You likely will be «treated like family», as previous reviewers have stated; sometimes in a kind way, sometimes in an overly-familiar way. Your server may advise you on what to order, or help you dress up your food order with condiments that improve the flavor. If you are not a people person, you may want to order take-out or prepare be patient. Sauces and accoutrements made in-house are available to go. On weekends, oranges and a square of brightly colored sponge & whipped cream cake is served with the check. Cash and credit cards accepted, free parking, family friendly. The bus boy previously referenced is no longer employed with New Que Hong. All staff are appropriately dressed with well-fitting pants, and isn’t that what we all look for in Vietnamese food?

Love this place… Great service, seaweed salad is outstanding; light, fresh and tasty dressing. Actually more of a cucumber seafood salad but just perfect. Also, not on the menu but BBQ beef or pork spring rolls are excellent. Make sure you tell them you want the grilled beef or pork otherwise you’ll get the standard pork spring rolls. Good but not as good as the grilled meat. The best thing about this place is, you tell them what you like and they’ll custom make a dish according to your heat request or protein requests. I had a wonderful Phở soup today that wasn’t on the menu and I let them make it for me, spice and all. It was outstanding. Great place with fantastic, personalized service. They make you feel like a member of their family.

Amazingly tasty Collierville outpost of Memphis’s famous Saigon Li. Outstanding dishes include beef grilled in mint leaves(bo la lot), shrimp ball, tofu and chive soup(canh he tohu), and curried wheat gluten(mi can xao lan). Friendly service and very reasonable prices.

I don’t live in Collierville, but if I am there it’s because I wanted to go to New Que Huong. The food is delicious and authentic. The atmosphere is great, and the mother-daughter team that run the place are fun to talk to. The menu is extensive, and vegetarian or vegan(like me) customers will have lots of options. I recommend the black bean tofu, the lemongrass tofu if you’re slightly more adventurous, or any of the wheat gluten dishes if you want something a more«meaty.» The sauces are all good and you will have more food than you can eat for a very fair price. My favorite Vietnamese place ever!

The best Asian food in Collierville. Forget Lee Kan’s(Americanized, deep-fried dreck), forget Sekisui – this place is authentic Vietnamese food. Sure, the menu may look scary, the service may be off-putting at times(like a previous review stated, they run that place like it’s in their own house), but it’s real food and a real culinary experience. Finally, a Vietnamese restaurant in Collierville! And it’s good! Also, if you visit enough, the owner will take a shine to you and give your kids plenty of oranges and cake. Just sayin’.

Decent phở broth. Ordered phở Tai(beef) and where’s the beef? Cook probably dumped three pieces of beef by accident. It’s convenient if you’re far away from the midtown but my loyalty still lies with my fav, Phở Vietnam!

I had lunch here and it was fantastic. This place came recommended by someone who had traveled in Vietnam, who said it was the best Vietnamese he’d had outside of the country itself. I had one of the catfish clay pot dishes. It came with a side of pickles(which you often find with authentic Asian dishes). The server took time to describe how to combine the pickles, rice and fish appropriately. I feel like I got a great meal and a small lesson in food culture too. I got a recommendation for two things to try next time I’m there. The place is run by the daughter of the cook at Saigon Le on Cleveland – which had always been a favorite of mine. I will be back.

Great Vietnamese food! I have never tried the traditional Chinese food that she has on the menu,(I think she keeps it there for those who don’t like to try new things). For those who do, try the spring rolls, the lotus salad, her soup is awesome… don’t know what it is called, she just serves it to us. Most of the time, we just tell her to cook us what she wants, and the flavors are always awesome. As for the service, well it’s just different here. The owner, her daugher and one other helper are always there. They run this place, like you were in their own house. They will treat you like family and will get to know you… and your kids. Sometimes, when the owner passes by the table, she will feed my kids a spoon full of whatever, give them a sip of water, then keep on going about her business.

This place has the greatest food. For Memphians who have wondered what’s gone wrong at Saigon Le, the answer is it’s at New Que Huong. So fresh, so different. Don’t go and try to order Chinese food — find something on the Vietnamese parts of the menu. If you don’t know your way around Vietnamese food, just have them make something for you. Give them an idea or two(noodles or beef with garlic or fried catfish or tofu with lemongrass) and see what comes back.

Short Version If you like crappy service, badly made food and watching the head waitress sexually molest the busboys, this place is for you! Longer Version I had been to this restaurant the first few weeks it was opened and the food and service was OK. A few weeks later I persuade my husband(who does not like Phở or Vietnamese food in general) to come with me for lunch. Boy, did I feel like a moron after this visit. We go in and wait for someone to sit us down. Even though the head waitress sees us, she ignores us and walks back into the kitchen. We wait at least a minute. There aren’t that many people in the restaurant. Finally one of the other waiters sits us down and hands us menus. Once we pick out what we want, we wait… and wait… and wait… hello waiter, where are you… I’m trying to flag down anyone at this point… wait some more… finally our waiter stops ignoring us and takes our order. My husband orders(egg drop I think) soup and some type of chicken meal. I order Phở noodle soup. We wait… wait some more… waiting…now we’ve been here for 30 minutes… finally the food comes out. My food is OK. My husbands food, however, is *absolutely* *terrible*. The egg drop soup is supposed to be savory. This soup has been DUMPED with sugar. When we ask the waiter if the egg drop soup is supposed to be sweet, he says he doesn’t know, he doesn’t eat the food here. My husbands chicken has bones in it. It’s a dish that is not supposed to have bones in it. But to top it all off, we watch the head waitress sexually molest the busboys. I’m not joking here, she was harassing the crap out of them, running around chasing them where all the customers could watch, and acting like an obnoxious 10 year old. It literally turned my stomach. Not that the busboys were a class act either — I see one of them have to pull up their pants after they dropped. I really didn’t need to see his underwear. Actually, THANKGOODNESS he was wearing underwear! If he had been going commando I might have debated calling the police for flashing me. Once again, another crappy restaurant in the Memphis area. This place needs to clean up their act and their food or else they are going to be closing soon. I find this to be sad, because before it opened I was ecstatic that Collierville was getting a Vietnamese restaurant.
