How can one go wrong with pretzels? I regularly order pretzel trays for my office(at least a half a dozen times a year), and they’ve always been excellent. Unfortunately my most recent experience left a bad taste in my mouth… I called Friday afternoon to order a rivet tray to pick up on Monday morning at 8:30AM. I was running a bit late to pick up and arrived at 9AM and told them I was there to pick up my tray. The young gentleman behind the counter said«oh we’re about to throw them in right now. It’ll take about 8 minutes»,(honestly it took closer to 20 minutes by the time they assorted the tray and I paid for it) I was a bit dumbfounded, as I watched him pull the tray of raw rivet pretzels out of the walk-in and put them in the oven. As if they waited for me to arrive to begin baking my order. Needless to say I was a bit perturbed, I should of spoken up but i didn’t want to be «that person» and honestly I tend to avoid confrontation(I guess that’s why i’m writing an online review). At first I just shrugged it off — things happen, everyone has an off day. Now the icing on the cake was when I got back to the office and took the lid off and noticed 2 out of the 3 dips they gave me were completely wrong! When I placed my order the girl asked me to specify which I wanted. Now that completely put me over the edge. Especially since I received yellow mustard instead of the spicy brown mustard I was craving. Anyone who loves spicy mustard as much as I do can surely relate to the disappointment. So not only did they drop the ball on what time the order was supposed to be ready but the 3 dips being wrong really bummed me out as well. Isn’t that the point of placing an order?

Great classic Philadephia soft pretzels for a great price. The value was so good, I bought more than I could eat! If you are jonesing for a classic Philly soft, and don’t want to cross the bridge, this is a great place to pick some up.

I live way too close to this place… so easy to stop in on my way to or from the train for a pretzel! Skip the cheese sauce though, it’s pretty gross… but other than that… can’t really complain!

For anyone who has been dying to know the answer to the age-old question, «How are those pretzel-dogs at Philly Soft Pretzel Factory?» I have stepped up to the challenge of taste testing one. The results: Not that great. Kind of gross, actually. The regular pretzels are bangin’, though. Especially when they’re fresh out of the oven. In tomorrow’s edition of Questions People Ponder: Wawa chocolate milk: moo or don’t?

MMM — warm soft pretzels right out of the oven — is there really anything better? No web site for this place that I can find, which is a shame as they’re products are great. I think it’s a franchise, but again, no web info so not sure. Who cares anyway — their pretzels are great. These people get up really early to start making pretzels, and it seems like the crew has been the same since they opened. The pretzels are what you expect, tasty, salty, yummy, and fresh. I love the pretzel braids with sesame seeds, though the everything ones are very good too. Shamrock shaped pretzels near St. Patrick’s day were a fun touch. Party platters are a great buy. For something like twenty dollars you get a hundred, yes 100 pretzel rods(about 4″ long) plus mustards and cheese dips. These go over great at parties or as an alternative to donuts at work. I’m not a big fan of the rivets, pretzel bites similar to what you get at the movie theaters but fresher, but my son loves them. The small pretzels, half the size of normal pretzels are also a nice treat if you’re not hungry for the big ones. I’ve never had anything from them that I didn’t really enjoy, and my only complaint is with myself for not stopping by more often. So why not five stars? One — no fountain soda, and two, no new products are being introduced. What about a sugar cinnamon pretzel, or a pesto one with asiago cheese melted on top? For five stars I want to be really impressed, and while I admit the products here are excellent, there’s nothing that’s truly ‘over the top’.
