Another Collinsville classic. The hubby have not been there since they moved to the new location(yes… Its been that long), so why not. We had the super beef tacos(why would you want anything else??? Okay… Maybe the Clogger… But my arteries thanks me for passing on it). The prices can’t be beat and the shells were flaky crispy so I’m sure it is probably slowly killing me(in a yummy way). I’m sure we will return to try other things on the menu. Not sure if we’ll ever try the Monday buffet… As we are allergic to small children and I’m sure with kids under 5 eating free on Monday buffet… The place is probably packed with germ carrying small humans. Ha!

The best thing, can find all of your frozen food cooked cheaper than you can make it here. Staff is somewhat nice. So cheap, but frozen food. Not worth it imo. Will not be back.

Bert’s has been around since I was a kid and it’s only gotten better! Great food, great prices, and amazing, friendly staff! I have a 5 year old son who is quite the talker. At other restaurants, he is simply ignored by staff. Not here. Everyone at Bert’s makes an effort to listen and actually converse with him! That’s a huge deal to me!

A local classic! The food is simple but tasty and well priced. The staff is very friendly. Don’t expect fine dining but for what it is nothing beats it.

From Texas. Stop here on our way to Wrigley Field. What an amazing experience. Awesome food, friendly atmosphere, and despite all the Cardinals fans they were actually extremely polite and fun. The cook even came and visited with us and told us about the towns large catchup bottle water tower!

If you’re hungover and in need of something punishingly greasy, this is the place for you! It has a cool atmosphere and friendly workers! However, no matter what you order, be prepared to consume an ungodly amount of cheese, and go through about 8 napkins of dabbing away excess grease. I really wish there was something unprocessed or special on my plate, but alas, there was not. That being said, I know my new go-to hangover place for Tex-mex-ish food!

I’ve ate here many times. Always FAST&FRIENDLY service. Cards accepted. Dine in or carry out. I’d suggest tacos & they give out a sample of the barbecue your first time there if you mention it.

Yuuummmmy cheap food. It’s like a local White Castle. No frill plastic tableware and good!

So I’m stuck out here in this frozen tundra, and waiting on a client, she suggests that we go here, and I’m thinking… how good could it be, well they showed me! Awesome food, tasty, great portions, not expensive and didn’t repeat all the next day. Good Job Amigos!

I bookmarked this place to try, after reading all of the amazing reviews. Unfortunately, it was not amazing. The people that work there are, however. Extremely nice and helpful. The food is just kind of blah. not much flavor, overly processed, and nothing feels very ‘homemade’ or ‘wow’. I hate leaving a 2 star review for such nice people, but the food just wasn’t there at all for us. Nobody in our group of 5 said they wanted to come back.

Not the most elegant food, but that’s not what you go here for. You get your bang for your buck. The locals love and rave about it. Being an outsider, it gets the job done. So, that’s why it’s simply A-OK.

The location on the directions were wrong. It’s actually on main street it took us to clay street. Good food though

1So, I was wrong… I thought that Bert’s would become a buffet restaurant due to the wildly popular Monday night buffet. If I read the sign right the buffet maybe cheaper at 7.49? Unfortunately it does close at 8pm. I have been a fan of this place for more than 3 decades my son pointed out. I have to say he i out of the will. Although, with my decrepit older mind, When I think tacos, I think Berts. They have the BEST beef hard tacos EVER! I got the beef tacos and cheese fries. The cheese fries were unassuming in presentation, but they were delish with nacho cheese sauce as an upgrade. The only thing missing from the menu was a dessert, although I can always go to Bobby’s then? :) I will definitely be back!

I too thought Bert’s was closed as I discovered it on a drive by(it wasn’t). I returned the next day to try the BBQ. Turns out Burt’s is more of a Mexican restaurant with BBQ. After another return trip to the Monday buffet to sample it all, I have to say I enjoyed all of the items that were not part of the filler type buffet items. Try this one.

Another local favorite. The newer location gives it an excellent atmosphere and the food remains yummy and inexpensive. No matter how many tacos we order, we always seem to regret not ordering more! Bert’s also seems to always be hosting some sort of benefit or another – the owners must be very caring and charitable people. Friendly workers who know their regulars.

Family friendly, fast but made to order meals– great for a quick snack or a full meal. Slushies for kids only 25 cents. Love the super taco and fries. Haven’t heard complaints from anyone I’ve eaten with here. A range of seating options for all size parties. Roger and his crew are the best!

Growing up in Collinsville I always seem to take for granted Bert’s Chuckwagon, until we almost lost it due to the 159 expansion. Luckily we were saved when Bert’s relocated about 2 blocks away on Main Street in downtown Collinsville. First off, don’t expect fine dining here this is good food done simple & right. Bert’s has a little bit of everything however the best thing to get here is the Mexican, especially if you go on a Monday night to take advantage of the Mexican buffet which is a great value at only $ 8.99 for some amazing food. I also have to stick with the classic pork tenderloin sandwich, which still tastes the same as it did over 10+ years ago. Another great item to try after your meal is the fried ice cream, I think that I usually have to end every meal here with this great desert, in fact its probably the best! Prices are very reasonable, and the staff and management is very friendly. This is a true Collinsville landmark, right along side the giant catchup bottle. If you are in the area you need to stop by for some cheap good food.

So sad to see this place close down — it will be re-opening at a new location but this place was a Collinsville, IL icon. Literally, every kind of comfort food you could think of… burgers, mexican food, ice cream, ribs, chicken, fried goodies… You name it! The tacos are the best and the price is ALWAYS right. A family of four ate for 14 dollars! My great uncle’s family runs this place and they truly take pride in what they do and have raised a family inside this place. It’s so sad that they were bought out by the Illinois Rte. 159 expansion project. They will reopen at 101 E. Main in September, go visit them!
