First of all the cemetery is the most beautifully kept. I love this place it’s very peaceful, but the girl that is at the front desk needs to learn people skills. This is a cemetery not a coffee shop

This is an absolutely beautiful cemetery. There are so many areas to explore and so many famous graves here. While I cannot speak to the service here, other than the grounds that I visited were well kept(although there was a sprinkler washing out the sidewalk instead of the grass), I am reviewing the graveside tours. Each month, a docent will take a group around the cemetery, exploring a certain theme. I visited during the Important Women tour. It was a great way to see some of the cemetery and hear some local history. There was water and snacks provided at the end, and it was a great way to get to know a group of locals. The only real issue I had was that I learned more from my fellow group members than I did the docent. He was a great guide, and he did know much about many members of the cemetery, but his women’s history was quite lacking compared to those taking the tour. At least he didn’t just stick to a script, and he showed us many famous men along the way, as well, and even the site of the first burial there. Not bad for free tour, but there was quite a bit of room for improvement, at least on that topic.

This is the most beautiful cemetery in Northern California. From Hearst to Spreckles the history of California is memorialized here. The monument to the Laurel Hill Cemetery is absolutely amazing. The old catacombs mausoleum is breathtaking. It is hard to imagine any place being better maintained than Cypress Lawn.

I’m not really sure how to rate a cemetery but here goes… So my dad’s grave has been here for 10 years. His grave is right next to a faucet or whatever, which is really handy. For those who aren’t, you can probably find one within a 10 yard radius of the person you’re visiting. I think my dad’s gravestone is starting to chip. And also, his picture in the middle is slightly slanted — as in, one side is higher than the other. It’s not flat against the gravestone. The«pots» that are built into the gravesite on either side of the gravestone is cracked and does not hold water anymore. When they mow the lawn, they aren’t very careful about the gravestones or the things that people bring to pay their respects. A good portion of our decorations are run over by their lawnmowers. Lots of broken angel figures and stone tablets over the years… One last thing — it is ALWAYS frickin cold here. Don’t be fooled by the everlasting sun in this area. It’s constantly windy.
