If you’ve had Mexican food in Texas, this will probably disappoint you. Service was attentive and quick and the food was ok, however there was nothing about this place that made my husband and I want to come back.

Very good food with generous portions. Friendly staff as well. Loved it. The tacos are meatier than most Mexican restaurants. Salsa was good too.

THE FOOD IS AMAZING !!! I love Don Jose but it small and crowded I wish it was a more spacious restaurant. But the servers and host are very nice and I will not stress enough the food is to die for.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The service is fast, and the food is great. The chips and salsa are very tasty along with the white sauce. The salsa never really has any consistency for spiciness or thickness due to it being homemade, but it’s always good. I love their $ 1.00 beer specials on Mondays and $ 4.00 margarita specials on Thursdays. All their entrees are worth getting. I prefer the super enchilada’s rancheros and chori pollo. The chori pollo is nice and spicy. This is my go to spot for Mexican, and I at least go once every two weeks.

I love coming here and getting Enchiladas Rancheros. It’s a dish with two cheese enchiladas topped with pork, onions and green peppers. It is one of my favorite dishes and tastes great every time I order it. The staff are friendly and attentive which helps me want to return. The salsa is pretty good as well which can be a turn off for me for a Mexican place if you cannot get that right. Definitely try this place!

Reasonably priced and your order arrives very quickly. Tacos here aren’t anything to rave about, expected more from them. Service is friendly. Ate here once recently and I probably will go back to try other items.

Wow really? I can’t say I’d call this Mexican. Old elpaso makes a better taco! The beef taco was only ground beef; no spices, no herbs, no flavor! Then crammed full of lettuce and sprinkled with a little cheese. The chicken taco and the beef enchilda was exactly the same-​no flavor! They were chinsy on the salsa. Twice we asked for more and both times got two tablespoons! Yes the staff is friendly but what makes me want to return is the food. I won’t return here.

This Mexican food is authentic, hot, freshly prepared, and tasty. The chips and salsa are always a great free appetizer. I eat here about 1 – 2 times per month and have enjoyed the food and staff for over 10 years. The chicken/​steak fajitas are the best meal in most Mexican restaurants. I highly recommend the chicken fajita meal.

Average Mexican food is easy. It is hard to make bad Mexican and very hard to make exceptional Mexican. This place is awesome. It looks just like 98% of the Mexican restaurants you have seen. Same layout, same color scheme. The food, however, is amazing. The menu is huge and I asked our waiter for his recommendation. That was an excellent idea. My dish was amazing. While I’m not saying this place is super stellar I am saying it’s better than average and better than average in Richmond for Mexican food might as well be gourmet. This place has your average Richmond Mexican restaurant menu, but with a few bonuses. The thing which keeps bringing me back is the Chili Verde. Their burritos are also authentic and I would wager their specialties would be excellent as well. They have good deals on beer some nights and their margaritas are fresh as well. The service has usually been pretty good, and the portions are humongous, so prepare to take some home or continue being fat. Anyways its the best food you’ll get in Colonial Heights and it’s cheap.

Growing up in Eastside San Jose (CA), I was surrounded by the Mexican culture, Mexican people, and Mexican food… I guess for it being Virginia, the food was good. Good portions for a very reasonable price! My favorite Mexican joint back home still reigns supreme, but this place will hit the spot if you’re craving Mexican food.

finally. Great mexican food in Chester! my favorite place. burritos, tacos and fajitas are great. love the salsa with the chips. And they don’t skip on the alcohol in the margaritas.

Great atmosphere. Food was excellent. Servings were almost too large. Definite return destination.

good food, excellent family atmosphere, we stayed for a while and the party we were with had a birthday so they brought him an ice cream and a sombrero! The only reason it gets 4 insted of 5 is because I didn’t get the drink I ordered until after the food got there.(sweet tea). But I will definatly go eat here again!

Something odd has happened as this restaurant suddenly has rave reviews. They had been caught re-​using white sauce and other neat health issues.
Mine was FIRST HAND and I will never ever eat there again. I had broken glass in my rice. I showed it to the waiter and he laughed! I refused to eat the meal and they refused to remove it from the bill. No way would I set foot there again. It used to have a packed parking lot all the time and was a great lil restaurant but the parents sold out and left.
Its not the same. There are some better choices very close by and are highly recommended.

Hands down the best Mexican food I have ever had. My boyfriend took me here when I stayed with his family for the holidays.
If you think the food is good, wait till you experience their customer service! It’s beyond excellent and I seriously feel like I’m family when I’m there. I think that partially has something to do with the staff calling me their amiga. Um heck yes I’ll be your amiga forever if you continue to keep cranking out this delicious food!
One of my favorite things about this place is the white sauce! I dream about this sauce all the time — it’s just so good! I look forward to visiting his town around the holidays just so I can get my hands on some of this.
Oh, and don’t get me started on their chicken enchiladas with the mole sauce. THEY NAIL IT! And I sit there like a moo pig inhaling this stuff as the bf watches in disbelief and horror. There’s no way I can be ladylike here when the food is this good.
This place is like a religious experience. My bf and I don’t even talk to each other when the food comes to the table because we’re too busy stuffing our faces with deliciousness.

This place is awesome.
Before you even order you get loads of chips, salsa, and their amazing white sauce, and even after you stuff your face, they keep bringing it back! My fav. is the Quesadilla de chorizo, but i’ve tried a ton of things here and they have all been really good. The food is pretty cheap and worth every penny.
Everyone who works here is nice and accomodating! Whenever i’m in the heights, I always come here!
