Michaels

The frame department has earned this Michaels location five stars. The remaining areas of the store would earn a generous three stars. Three stars for the overpriced merchandise, narrow and cluttered aisles, and employees aimlessly wandering the store with seemingly little to do while customers line up at checkout.
Back to the frame department. Unfortunately I can’t recall the frame department employee’s name but she was at the store when I went in and was also the person to take my phone call a month or so prior. I’m surmising she’s full time. She was fully knowledgeable about the products, pricing, framing, and was friendly in a way that didn’t scream «up-​sale.»
I live in Los Angeles County, CA, and had a large framed print to deliver to the east coast. The frame was much too large to carry on the plane and shipping may have resulted in broken glass. I had a little over 24 hours in Virginia to get the print (I was carrying with me) delivered to the Michaels store to be added to the frame and then assembled before leaving and going on to another state. The Michaels store in LA worked with the frame department in Colonial Heights, Virginia, to have everything ready. When I arrived at the Colonial Heights, VA, store the framing department employee was fully aware of my purchase, knew my name, and arranged to have it ready no later than the next morning. Not only did the employee have the finished product ready within the deadline, she exceeded it and had it completed the same day. This employee is an asset to the store and is one to be emulated.

I had a floral arrangement to make for my friend mother’s burial site. The selection of flowers was OK, they didn’t have many red roses, which was disappointing to me. Since it was Independence Day, I went with a red, white and blue theme with the American flag in the arrangement. My friend thought it was beautiful. Customer service in the store is mediocre, there are a lot of associates walking around the store but they don’t greet you or offer assistance. I chose this site out of convenience.

A pretty good store– would like it if they had a better selection of drawing pens (or sold individual micron pens, not just sets). They do not have gouache. Staff is helpful– registers are usually open 1 or 2 at a time so the wait can be pretty long. Make sure to check the website or newspaper for the coupons before you go.

i go to Michaels for several different items and they always have a wide array of anything i am looking for. There was one employee that was extremely patient and helpful as i was trying to describe what i was looking for and she actually found it for me ! The cashiers are very friendly and dont mind at all when you ask them to cut ribbon for you. THe bathrooms are also clean, the womens bathroom anyway as i didnt go into the mens:)
