(1) Kid’s milk came out with black stuff floating in it. Found black ring around cup under the lid. (2) Omelet was expensive($ 12 for eggs, bacon, spinach, tomatoes and cheese) and was flavorless. (3) Butter Browns aka has Browns were mushy and flavorless. (4) Juevos Rancheros was flavorless– reasonably priced. (5) Kid’s meals were pricey and just OK. One person ordered the breakfast sandwich and thought it was pretty decent– eggs flavorless though. Service was good. Server was friendly. Summary: a bit over priced, flavorless all around, crud in milk and on paper cups. Overall service was good. Would not recommend and would not eat again.

The food was fresh and prepared well. The restaurant was clean… However, there was really nothing outstanding about it except for the price. As though the $ 11 omelet wasn’t enough, $ 4 dollars for a lemonade? !

Finally made it to this place. I have to say, I will definitely be back! Fast, friendly service and great food. It’s obvious that they are using fresh ingredients. The house made sausage and butter browns are the best. Decent green chili too, which can be hard to find here in the Springs. After ordering, I watched as other orders were being taken to other tables and I noticed a trend of large portions. The price is right considering the amount and quality of food you get. Make sure you are hungry, if you visit Dougs!

Delicious breakfast! Had an omelet with sweet bread, but will definitely be getting one of the breakfast burritos next time. As I looked around, I was pretty jealous of those!

Heard that this place was good, so we tried it this morning. The food was flavorless and the omelette didn’t have cheese, even after we made sure that there was a lot of cheese. We will not be returning.

I decided to try Doug’s based on the reviews I read on Unilocal– I sure am glad I did. I went with the notion of getting pancakes but felt completely confused once I read the menu because there were so many choices and they all sounded amazing! I finally settled on the Black Betty burger. OMG. It was a top 3 burger for sure! I also decided to order my fries«messy» with sausage gravy, bacon & cheese because why not? The restaurant was clean with plenty of seating, a friendly staff, and lots of parking available.

Open diner style. Went on a Sunday morning, wait wasn’t too bad. Extremely large portions so come hungry! I order the Papas Cowboy, Christmas, eggs over medium and no cheese. Points off because they forgot to take my cheese off, and points off because the floor was dirty. They wait staff was friendly and one waitress said they give military discount

Everything at Doug’s is very good. Fresh, lots of food, quick, delicious, and a great staff. Always busy, makes it exclusive, but you don’t have to wait long. Everything is homemade, quality ingredients, love this place! Best breakfast in Colorado Springs!

Delicious, clean and wholesome food for a great start to your day. Super friendly and very helpful staff. I love the Sharon omelette with egg whites & tomatoes with parm and pesto as my side. One of my spots for breakfast for sure. Enjoy!

Just had the Hillbilly and Doug’s delivers again with their sausage gravy over potatoes, with a slab, and I mean slab of ham topped off with a butter biscuit that is a cross between french toast and a biscuit. Stop in for a wonderful food experience, you won’t be disappointed!

Clean, open restaurant. Service was nice, friendly and attentive. Extensive menu. Food is average, looks good, but, cheap ingredients with little flavor. If you go, go hungry. Big meals.

Lunch ok at best, chili was like warm and bland, chips were way salty. Jag breakfast here before that was good but wouldn’t return for lunch do not believe it’s their forte.

First impressions: confusing menu, strange sounding food, inattentive service, and an over all experience that didn’t match the other reviews. The hash browns/butter Browns were soggy and bland. The place wasn’t busy, but I needed to remind the server 3 times for a box and a refill on my coffee. …we still came back to give it another try Second impression: Still thrown off by the menu, and as a non-meat eater my options were slim. I ordered the same thing as last time(the skinny«papa’s» hold the chili since it’s made with chicken broth). This visit the food was better than the last. I enjoy seeing color in my food, and you can tell that they make pretty much everything themselves, which to me, means respect, yo. I’m gangster, but not as gangster as a restaurant with the integrity to make their own food, jam, chili, and hash. The server still seemed like she either lacked in experience, or that Doug’s is so laid back that her standards to pay attention to her tables are lower than they should be. Eggs were overlooked, not over-easy, but the hash were crispy as I requested. I covered it in pepper and began eating before I took the picture… So I’ll have to update this review again soon after I try something new here… With that said, I’ll come again, this neighborhood was desperate for a new breakfast diner, and I hope with many of my hopes that Doug’s will be a good one that sticks around.

I love this place. It has a point of view. I don’t agree with everything on the menu as I’ve tried a lot of it now, but I appreciate the effort. I like businesses that take risks, even if they don’t work out all the time. I’ve never had lunch here, but I do eat breakfast here pretty consistently. I order the Hillbilly when I come now. Two eggs, 3 pieces of bacon, a biscuit with potatoes smothered in gravy. I swear I should get a t-shirt if I can ever finish that thing. Side note– every time I order Doug’s and come to work, I get a lot of people walking by my desk, staring. You can feel their jealousy. =D

I really just wanted some eggs, but I also got it with their tomatoes topped with pesto and English muffin. That English muffin! Is it made in-house?! Best English muffin I have eaten, I know you’re thinking it’s just a muffin, but when you are using carbs in your calorie count they better freakin’ worth it. The ones here totally are worth it! Their homemade jam is okay. And those tomatoes with pesto on top, delicious. Even though this was a basic meal, it tasted really good and was about $ 7. I could see this place getting busy on the weekends.

My friend and I went here for brunch the other day. I had heard great things about Doug’s so was excited to try it. I didn’t love the atmosphere– it was loud and pretty crowded and not the most comfortable seating, but it is a diner so maybe that’s OK. I was hoping it would be a little more comfortable and be a good place to meet a friend for some good food and conversation. My friend requested to sit in the back corner of the restaurant and we were declined(and we heard others ask that too) and were later told it was to make sure they give the best service possible so the customers aren’t as spread out because they don’t have many staff. I guess that makes sense but it was kind of a bummer being in the middle of a lot of people(but again, that might just be the wrong expectation for a diner). I tried the combo and was thankful they agreed to my request to have half sweet toast and half blueberry pancake instead of all sweet toast. I LOVED the blueberry pancake– it was perfect and had just the right sweetness to it. That is definitely what I will order next time. Best pancake in the Springs for me so far! I didn’t care for the flavor of the sweet toast(which is like french toast but dipped in orange batter but it was very mild tasting). The eggs were pretty good and the bacon was thick and sweet. My friend ordered an omelet but didn’t think it had the ingredients it was supposed to(but our server brought her some avocado/guacamole which helped) and she felt like it had way too many peppers in it(which actually were very beautiful and colorful). But she loves the griddle biscuits and the homemade blackberry jam(though the amount of jam given is teeny tiny!) Our server Alex was very good and attentive. Overall it’s a good place and hope they do really well– they do have quite a buzz. I probably prefer a quieter and more comfortable place for breakfast or lunch but that might just be my personal taste lately. But the blueberry pancake is worth going back for, for sure!

Sunday brunch. So after reading reviews while I was traveling I decided that I’d give Doug’s a try today. Knowing that I bead likely to be busy when we arrived at 1245 I continued on in. We had a short wait for a table and were seated within about 10 minutes. The menu is quite large and is full of a variety of different plays on common items. It takes a little while I digest the various items and what they entail. I have to say that the font on the descriptions makes it tough to read quickly and does not allow for easy scanning. I ordered the Combo with Sweet Toast, 2 eggs soft and bacon extra crispy. My wife ordered the drizzle omelette and asked for mushrooms to be added and had the blue cheese removed with a side of butter browns and an English muffin. My plate came out first, the Sweet Toast was covered in powder sugar as opposed to dusted, the eggs I believe started out soft but had hardened by the time they arrived on the table and the bacon was firm but not extra crispy. Taste wise the bacon was good and the Sweet Toast was sweet but not overly sweet. Eggs were… well eggs. My wife’s plate came out second, as I was basically finished with half my meal. What didn’t come out was her muffin, of which we needed to ask for twice before it arrived. She asked for it naked and it came out with butter on it. Her omelette was not made in a traditional style, as the eggs were basically made first and the ingredients were all raw/uncooked and then had the eggs flipped over the top to have the appearance of being an omelette. The drizzle was then put on top. She was very uninspired with her base meal. She did enjoy the butter browns and said that they had a hint of pepper and were not greasy. Overall, I have to say that maybe the burgers and burritos are the specialty as they tend to come out and be the highlight at tables where they arrive. I will give this another shot in the future as that is only fair. However for now I feel a 3-star review is being generous. Maybe that will change once I come back for another try.

This guy… Man oh man… Doug, yeah, He’s got some funky food! But it is delicious funky food! Weirdest breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had… and loved every bit of it. The chorizo sausage is off the chain! The green chili… oh ma gherd. The bomb diggity y’all. The bomb diggity. Yes. I just said that. The Burgers are unbelievable too, it’s like, like… well I just don’t know. You have to try them. De Freakin Lish. So many choices!!! :O Fries… oh yeah baby, whatever way you want it. The griddle biscuits are out of this world. Apple butter? Homemade jelly… Yeah!!! That’s what I’m talkin about people! Side of beans, yup. Amazing.
If you want to be healthy then you can get oatmeal. It’s good. For the love of gastropub nation though… get somethin funky. The friendliness just can’t be beat here either. I love these people!

«Best find in Colorado Springs, so far» — my BF I guess this place has only been open about a month. And while we were able to get seated right away, I’m guessing that will change as word gets out. This is a cute little diner style place in a strip mall(well, of course it’s in a strip mall, this is Colorado Springs) on the North East side of town. It was a bit of a trek from where we live, but well worth it. What really got my attention is the New Mexico flare to the menu. Seems Doug, the owner, lived in Albuquerque. So there is red and green chile to smother anything with. Green chile cheeseburgers(I will be back to try one of those), enchiladas, carne adovada and more. I am a huge red chile fan and it is VERY hard to find good New Mexico style food outside of the state. Doug’s was pretty darn good. Not as insanely spicy as you’ll get down there, but maybe he toned it down for Colorado. But other than the heat level, the flavor was great! Same with the carne adovada. Unfortunately, the green chile was a little thick and seemed more Colorado style. Not bad, but I’ll stick with the red. The homemade biscuit with homemade blackberry jam, that came with the omelette, was one of the best! It must be amazing smothered in gravy. Really, everything we tried(and we ordered a lot) was awesome! BEWARE: the portions are huge. So, plan to pig out, share or take home a large to-go box. Enjoy! I’m off to eat my leftovers.
