This place is everything somebody who really likes BBQ would love. It has the hole in the wall/shack atmosphere(it is located in the back of a gas station store) that is desired from a ligitimate country BBQ joint. Their sandwiches(or samis) are amazing! Their Brisket(pulled) is probably their best meat followed by the pulled pork, however all their meats are great and no matter what you get you will not be disappointed! This place is also great for family meals, they have 2 different family packs that have 1 – 2 pounds of meat &1 – 2 massive sides. This place is truly Texas style as vetted by me(a Texas native) and a group of my Texan friends. As everyone knows Texas style BBQ comes with no sauce but is still juicy and this place’s meat meets that criteria perfectly! Plus as all Texas BBQs do this place has 3 house made sauces for all different types of BBQ eaters! So if you are in Black Forest or even Northern Colorado Springs don’t skip this place ’cause you would miss some of the best BBQ of your life!

Used to cater a wedding of 100 people. Very nice people to work with. The brisket and brat were really good. The ribs were kind of dry, I suspect they there cooked the day before. The ribs we tested in their place were much better. So I’d say great place but be careful how much food you order, they might have the capabilities for such a large order.

Came to this BBQ place attached to a gas station, with the hopes it was related to a BBQ place in Colorado Springs, called Firehouse(with the same logo…) but it was not. Granted it was warm outside previously, the gas station/restaurant was very hot. To compensate, the back door was open, which let in a ton of flies. And when I say a tone of flies, that included the dead ones stuck to fly tape near the register. We tried some different items including the Chicken, Pulled Pork, Braut, and Brisket. The Chicken had a bone in it, which was only discovered after taking a bite. For the sides we tried the potato salad, green beans and coleslaw. As previously mentioned the potato salad is from the grocery store/Sams, and it was served in a styrofoam drinking cup. The green beans weren’t bad, the coleslaw was meh, and was probably also from the store. The BBQ sauce wasn’t anything special. It had a bad aftertaste, and I was warned not to eat anymore because of that. For a «dive» BBQ place in a small town, I expected something to stand out besides all the flies. Also, disappointed that they didn’t have sweet tea and garlic bread, which I consider staples for BBQ.

Very judgmental. Went to get gas and got called names by a regular customer who didn’t like our VW bus I guess. Sworn at, insulted, threatened and told to go back to Maine(one of of us has lived in Colorado for 60 years and neither has been to Maine). Owner did nothing but watch. This station is one our way between Colorado Springs and home, but we’ll skip it from now on.

First I want to caveat this review with the fact that I hail from St. Louis and have eaten and reviewed some of the best BBQ on earth(Pappy’s smokehouse and Bogart’s BBQ) and I am an avid smoker myself. Second, a 2-star review on Unilocal is Meh, Ive experienced better, which is perfect in this case. As for the food, the meat itself was okay. It had a nice smokey flavor and was cooked very well. It was served hot and was plentiful. They do not sauce the meat which is great, because I hate BBQ joints that let their meat sit in sauce all day. I also liked the sweet baked beans. They had a nice flavor and as a baked bean fan, I thought they were great. I took issue with 2 things, the potato salad and their BBQ sauce. I watched the young man take out a tub of potato salad from the fridge and it was the same I can get at Sam’s Club. I don’t go to a BBQ place for store bought taters or slaw. I did not have the slaw, but if the potato salad is an indicator, the slaw likely came from the same place. The potato salad was bland and again, store bought. As to their sauce, it left a lot to be desired. The first thing I noticed was an overwhelming smell of cloves(could be copious amounts of apple cider vinegar) but it smelled overwhelmingly like cloves. As a man who makes his own BBQ sauce from scratch when I smoke, cloves are a common spice in BBQ sauce but this smelled like clove sauce with a hint of BBQ. The sweet and tangy sauce had a funky aftertaste that I did not care for. The middle sauce(with a kick of spice) was palatable but also had a clove taste, although it was less noticeable than the sweet and tangy. For me, the sauce is equally as important as the meat and in this case, the sauce failed to hold up its end of the deal. Overall, the place is convenient to my location and the meat was good. Next time, I go, I will grab some meat and use my own sauce, but I will go back beacuse living where I live, this is one of the closest options and like I said the meat was okay.

Great BBQ. I had the pulled pork sandwich with potato salad and baked beans. It is a very rustic place but I definitely will come back. There are only 3 tables so try and go at an off hour.
