Keva Juice

I stopped into Keva Juice because I wanted just that… fresh juice. I’m talking a mix of veggies through a juicer right before your eyes.
In that sense, this place is a bit of a misnomer. All they have a smoothies, and from what I saw, the «juice» used in the smoothies comes out of a bottle instead of being freshly juiced with a machine, at least not in front of the customer. It is also fruit juices that are used.
I looked over the menu and saw that some beverages come with Rockstar in them. I don’t consider this particularly healthy but can see that it would be extremely misleading since this beverage is offered at what purports to be a healthy establishment.
After looking at the nutrition facts for the smoothies, I decided to pass. Properly prepared smoothies can indeed be high in things like sugar, however, when the whole fruit is blended, as opposed to just adding juice, the fiber from the fruit slows down the body’s absorption of the sugar, making it less like a candy bar and more like a… well, fruit. I understand that whole fruits are also added to some of the smoothies, but so are things like sherbet, which again, may be borderline «healthy».
I’m on my soap box for a minute here because I just want to convey the idea that although Keva Juice is packaged as a ‘healthy food’ establishment, what you’re actually getting may be more like dessert than anything. It just wasn’t my thing so after a long while of looking over the menu and trying to convince myself to give it a chance, I decided to pass. I give two stars instead of one because I concede that there’s a possibility that these smoothies at least taste good. That’s a start.

I arrived at Keva Juice on Southgate road in Colorado Springs this morning around 8:00am on 4÷14÷14. The door was unlocked and a sign said they opened at 8 on the door, so I went in. I asked the girl if they were open and she said no with immediate attitude and that I would have to wait outside. I stepped outside and looked at my phone to confirm the time, it was 8:02, so I stepped back in and told her the time and that they were supposed to be open. I thought she may have mistakenly not known it was 8:00am. She immediately starts flipping out on me and tells me I still have to wait outside (in the snow) «until the open sign is on». So, seeing as it was the time they were supposed to be open I asked her if she could just turn on the sign because I had to get to work. She seriously rolls her eyes and goes «Well if I’d known my first customer would be a BITCH…» and flings a chair over to the window and turns on the light.
This girl was UNBELIEVABLY rude to me and I will never go back to this Keva Juice unless this issue is addressed. I could not believe she actually called me a bitch because it was 8:02am and she was unable to be ready to be open on time. I have never been treated so rudely in a public place in my life!
She ended this exchange with «I hope you have a better day.» My day is just fine thank you, but if she hates her job that much she needs to quit or be fired. Also, maybe you should lock your door if you’re not open! Unbelievable.

This establishment was the first «natural» smoothie spot that I have visited and really enjoyed and the smoothie was great. I also bought a stuffed jalapeños pretzel, which was actually good. They made a huge impression on me, I will be back!
