My family and I LOVE this place. Authentic Eastern European(Polish, more specifically) food, including beers and liquors. Being of Polish descent, this place reminds me of my family’s cooking.

5 star all the way! This cute Polish/Russian/German restaurant offers a wide variety of delicious, fresh, foods made from the owners own family recipes! The waiter, Bobby, obviously enjoys his job! He was very friendly, and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. We tried the stuffed cabbage, the sausage and sauerkraut Pirogies, and the potato pancake. Everything was DELICIOUS! We left with happy, very full tummies! Highly recommended!

Here at the Manitou location and food is great. We all had to take a bite of each other’s and nothing disappointed. Perfectly portioned, well flavored meals including goulash, stuffed cabbage and Mahi Mahi. We felt welcome, and our host was great beginning to end. Perfect meal after a beautiful afternoon in the gardens.

My wife and l went here to celebrate our twentieth anniversary. We always want to try new food in restaurants we find interesting. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. The waitress did a good job explaining the menu and we ordered. I ordered the cabbage rolls and my wife ordered the stroganoff on a potato pancake. We ordered the Russian pierogies and those came first. Those alone would make a meal! They were wonderful. Our food came out soon thereafter. My cabbage rolls were big! They were a wonderful mix of cabbage, perfectly seasoned meat and tangy tomato sauce. They were served with mashed potatoes and a sweet cucumber salad. My wife ordered the stroganoff on top of a potato pancake. When I saw then tasted that I almost regretted ordering the cabbage rolls ! It was savory and salty, meaty and swimming in gravy! All atop a great potato pancake. We got a slice of what was probably the best brownie cheesecake I had ever had for dessert. They are changing their name to European Café and are going to start serving breakfast in the very near future. If their breakfast is near as good as their dinners… We have found our favorite restaurant! Great staff and wonderful food!!!

Great place! They’re open for breakfast with a breakfast menu, but also serve their dinner menu all hours. Who said you can’t have perogis for breakfast?! Wonderful food, and great service.

The main room has five tables for dining. There are additional tables outside if the weather is nice. The wait staff was helpful and friendly. I was so blown away by the menu, that I had a difficult time deciding what to order. I settled on the Goulash over a potato pancake, and knew before the order was placed that I needed to come back for several more samplings. The food was AMAZING!

Went to new location. Very cute and clean!!! Nice outdoor patio. The inside tables and dining area were also nice. Our waitress was wonderful and very helpful. The food was excellent! We had the beef goulash, paprikash, meatloaf sandwich, and mixed perogies. All very good and served beautifully. There was a lot of bread on the meatloaf sandwich, but the meatloaf was still great. Waitress was attentive, brought refills quickly and you can tell she takes pride I. The restaurant. The place is run by an authentic Polish family and you can tell they have authentic recipes. If I lived here I would definitely eat there again. Highly recommended. (They also have beer and wine.)

This place is SO good. Between all of our visits we’ve enjoyed almost everything on the menu. Though, the original pierogis stand out the most. The herbed sour cream is the perfect compliment, and the borscht is so yummy. The dumpling in the bottom makes it over the top. NOTHING on the menu disappoints. The wait staff have all been great, too!

We just moved to Colorado Springs and discovered PJ’s through some very helpful and encouraging(!) Unilocal reviews. Wow, this place is incredible. From the sweet and friendly service, calm atmosphere, and amazing, amazing food, it blew us out of the water. My husband and I went on a Tuesday night which was pretty quiet but nice. We were told that it gets busier on the weekends, but that overall, it hasn’t been too crowded since they moved to their new location. So get the word out! Okay now to the food. I honestly have not been able to stop thinking about it. We had the traditional pierogis as an appetizer to start. All of them were delicious, but the most notable was the Russian pierogi with potato, cream cheese, onion, and bacon. The flavors all melded together so well and the crust was soft yet crispy. Our server was so helpful and patient with us as we decided on what to order for dinner. We decided on the Hungarian goulash and the paprikash over potato pancakes, respectively. Both were incredibly rich with a complex flavor. The paprikash had more spice which gave it a more compelling flavor, reminiscent of Hispanic spices, and the goulash tasted more like a stew. Both of them paired together with the potato pancake, basically the most delicious hash browns you have ever tasted, took each dish to a whole new level. For dessert(because, come on!) our server recommended the strawberry and banana crepes. Again, delicious, with the crêpe having a thicker almost French toast kind of texture, folded around strawberries and bananas that had been cooked in brown sugar. If you are open to delicious food that is clearly prepared with meticulous care and thought, and flavors that perfectly complement each other, please give PJ’s a try. I promise, you will want to go back again and again. I know I will! :)

Pierogi smoothed in Stroganoff… not on the menu but definitely the best meal in town! Side of cucumber salad and it’s unbeatable! Wash it down with Okocim beer for totally Polish experience

I decided to give this place a try after looking at the reviews on Unilocal.PJ’s bistro definitely did not disappoint. My boyfriend and I both ordered the pierogies and they prepared really well. The filling was seasoned well and nice and crispy on the outside. Important note — the we dined here at the end of December and were informed it was the last day of service at that location. The restaurant is moving to a new location in early 2015.

Allergy Sufferer Rating: 3 out of 5 Overall experience: 4 out of 5 They don’t have an allergen sheet but I will give them this, they make their food in location so they can at least guarantee what’s in it. Their breads are brought in so if you have an egg allergy you’re kind of screwed. I ordered the goat cheese and pepper burger but couldn’t have their bun or horseradish sauce with it. Regardless of these two set backs it was a delicious meal and quite filling without the bun. The goat cheese and peppers complemented the meat wonderfully. The meat is obviously fresh and was cooked just enough. If you have any of the myriad of other food allergies you will either be able to work around it or at worst you’ll find out you can’t order anything. If you can’t eat there then at least you have several other options within walking distance. Good service and the outdoor seating was really nice.

PJ’s Bistro is a little slice of Polish heaven tucked away in the touristy town of Manitou Springs at the base of Pike’s Peak. My sister and I spent two weeks in Gliwice, Poland a few years ago and had the pleasure of stuffing our faces with all sorts of traditional polish eats ranging from pierogies upon pierogies to whipped lard and loaves of bread. Despite this businesses’ unsuspecting American name, you’ll find authentic eats like cabbage rolls, goulash, pierogies, cucumber salad and more. We opted for the sampler entrée and spinach salad topped with an egg and horseradish pierogies. All were extremely delicious. I especially enjoyed the cucumber salad. Very refreshing. The space is in line with most standard American eateries– minimal décor and no polish trinkets in sight. Meal price points range between $ 12-$ 17. Opt for family-style ordering to maximize the experience!

Now here is a Polish resturant who knows how to deliver both the classics and classic with a twist. I have been to Poland andfeel like I have a general idea of what traditional Polish food is like(by no means am I an expert) and PJ’s creates classic Polish dishes that make you feel like you are in Poland without the red eye flight. I had PJ’s platter and it was delicious; not healthy by any stretch of the imagination but this is comfort food not health food. For the periogie options I had both the hungarian and meat perogies. They were great, the outside has a slight crisp to it while the inside of the dough was still soft. The were not overly greasy like many periogies I have had in the past which was nice. The cucumber salad was nice because it was cold and crisp unlike my other portions of the platter so it mixed up the flavor and temperature patterns of the meal. The platter also came withe a stuffed cabbage roll and potato pancake topped with goulash. The caggabe roll was just the way it should be: delicate cabage out side abd firm meat on the inside(ignore the fact that that just sounded dirty and keep reading) with just right amount of tomatoe based sauce on top. I wish I could make them this good. The potato pancake was nice a crisp with hungarian goulash on top. The hungarian goulash has pleanty of meat in it so it you are not a big meat eatter I would choose a different goulash. Service was great. Our server was attentive and was nice about our request to move inside after initially asking the host if we could sit outside. Heavy metal music was playing throughout the restaurant which I found really odd but a good dinner conversation and the tour de France on tv is enough to ignore it.

While wandering, hungry, through Manitou Springs once recent afternoon, we ended up at PJ’s for lunch. We based our choice on nothing more than the fact that they had their menu posted outside(ALL restaurants in touristy areas should do this… seriously. Pro tip) and that they offered kid options. You should know that, although they offer both indoor and outdoor seating, the place is deceptively small inside. Maybe 20 tables(most of which are 2– or 4-tops) max, including the balcony patio. You should also know that they don’t appear to have wheelchair access. We had to hike a stroller up the steep, narrow stone steps… not a big deal for us, but something to consider if you have a hard time with such things. That said, we were greeted warmly and– despite visiting during the height of the lunch rush– were seated within 10 minutes. The tables seemed to turn over fairly quickly, so even though a line was forming at the door as we waited, nobody had time to get annoyed or frustrated, and nobody bailed. If they did, it would’ve been their loss– because the food is SOGOOD. I had the spinach salad with smoked salmon and havarti-horseradish pierogis. It was massive, and came topped with a fried(medium-soft yolk and crispy-edged white, just the way I like it) egg, tons of goat cheese, and candied pecans. I didn’t order the dressing on the side, as I usually do(an overdressed salad is a crime against humanity), but I didn’t have to worry… they did it exactly right. And those two pierogis? OHMAHGAH. So ridiculously good. If you’re in the position of being able to order something sinfully rich and guilt-inducingly delicious, order a whole plate. They’re that good. However, if you’re more in the mood for your veggies-n-greens and just want a touch of that doughy, cheesy goodness, the two on the side of that salad are more than enough to satisfy. The kids had the cheese melt sandwich and a ham sandwich, both with fries. They came on fresh baked rolls(so amazing) and the fries were just perfect. You can tell a lot about a place by how they handle the humble french fry, and PJ’s fries were on point. Thin, hot, crisp, and with just the right amount of grease and salt… exactly how a fry should be. The husband got a straight-up, no frills burger. It didn’t stand a chance. It was gone before I could even ask for a taster bite. The staff was exceedingly friendly and accommodating. The food came out quick, hot, and delicious. My only complaint is that we don’t live closer to Manitou Springs so we could visit more often!
