The food is 5 stars for sure. Family run restaurant serving some of the best tasting Mexican food. My favorite is a bean burrito smothered in their homemade pork green chili sauce, absolutely the BEST. No had a bad meal there yet.

Tasty and Authentic! I’m always on the lookout for good mexican food in Colorado. Sometimes that can be real challenge. I found this place just driving by and thought to myself that looks worth a try. So when I made it back I wasn’t disappointed. I had the pork tamales with green chili over it. Yumm yumm. If your in the mood for good mexican food put this place on your list. Oh yeah bring cash. No cards accepted.

My wife and I ate here in 2013 and loved it. It’s a family business that does an amazing job! I was very excited to be able to take our kids here in September 2015 while on a road trip out west. The burritos were awesome, and my wife loved the cake she had for dessert. It’s a CASHONLY place, so make sure you hit an ATM first. I highly recommend this establishment!

This place is seriously awesome. All the food is delicious, especially the avocado pork burritos. The hours are short and it is cash only but definitely a neighborhood check out.

My girls and I had a great experience here. The AP burrito was excellent and my daughter loved the beef tacos. The green chili was the perfect amount of spicy for me. I like hot but not so hot I can’t taste the food and this was just right. I also loved seeing the family working together. Everyone was so friendly I felt like a friend that had stopped by for dinner. The mom was at a dining table preparing fresh tamales which I think was really neat. Downside: cash only(thankfully I had enough on me) and no weekend hours. I’m really searching for a great smothered breakfast burrito and I’m betting they’d do fabulous with those. We will definitely be returning and I’ve already recommended this place to all my friends!

I dig this place. Everyone needs a hole in the wall taco joint in their life, and currently this is mine. This is a small family run place with great homemade food. The gringo style beef tacos are stepped up a notch with a homemade crispy shell. The green chile is more colorado style with pork and a serious amount of garlic, but it sure hits the spot. However, my go to order is the guac tostada with extra salsa. So simple and delicious! I wish they had longer hours — they close at 6:30 and closed on weekends– but these guys work their tails off, so i guess they deserve some time to rest ;)

Holy guacamole! While I can’t vouch for the entire menu, the pork green chili smothered pork-avocado burrito is unbelievable. It might actually be the miracle cure to many plagues and ailments. Salsa Latina is the sister restaurant to El Taco Rey. Kinda like a redneck family tree, it’s all in the family. Couple things to remember: Small dining room. CASHONLY!

A friend and I visited for lunch one day after finding the restaurant on Unilocal. It’s small and family owned. The employees were nice and tried to make suggestions on food options. My friend said it was the most amazing chicken quesadilla she had ever had. She says its what she will crave now when she wants a chicken quesadilla from now on. In fact, we were going to return Saturday 02÷07÷15 but they are not open on the weekends. I had an entirely different experience. I had the enchilada and taco plate. I don’t know what kind rice that is but its dry and bland. I couldn’t eat it even if it were dipped in the enchilada sauce. And there was plenty of that… to the point of almost spilling out of the styrofoam container. What the heck! I ate the taco and it was good but I had a really hard time getting the enchilada down. Not a great experience. They are very close to downtown so I do NOT understand the restaurant being closed on the weekends. It just leaves people to go elsewhere. As a small business owner, you have to be available to your customers… or they go somewhere else and eventually do not return.

This is a pretty decent, authentic Mexican place. You may expect Tex-Mex, and that would be a mistake. The flavors are light, spicy, and develop really nicely as you eat. Not a fan of their rice and beans, but that’s not why I go. Make sure you bring cash, as they do not accept credit cards or checks. Nice hole-in-the-wall place!

Very good Mexican food from a family owned and operated business. The green chili is fantastic, but be prepared for a little heat. The red enchilada sauce is way better than normal. I absolutely love their rice, and their beans are quite good also. They are a little quirky, taking only cash and having very limited hours, so be prepared. Still, they are one of my two favorites for Mexican food in the Springs.

I absolutely love this place! The beans and rice taste just like my Grandma’s. Every bite takes me back to her kitchen. I love the enchiladas and chimi! The owners are wonderful. I recommend Salsa Latina to everyone!

I don’t blame the Unilocal reviewers, I’m not going to blame or take any jabs at Unilocal either, I blame myself. I had a reputation with my coworkers for being good at picking restaurants. I got banned from deciding for a week for picking this place and I should take the blame. In fact, I would have benched me for a month, this place is awful. This should be a one star review but it is local and the people running it are nice. The food isn’t Mexican food which is my first problem. The second, it’s crap by any standard. Ground beef, dry(and I mean dry) flavorless chicken, and pork are the options here. They have a pork called avocado pork too. I tried the beef and chicken, both were awful. The beans tasted old and maybe canned. The rice had formed into something with a paste like texture. A coworker had the avocado pork and thought it was disgusting as well. Even the chips were stale, and salsa here means something like you would get out of a jar, think Ortega. I have been to Mexico quite a few times, even far enough south where you don’t see burritos and tacos anymore, but never crossed paths with food like this. This is not Mexican food, or good food for that matter. Time to rebuild my rep now. I didn’t really read the other reviews before I picked this place. I skimmed, saw great ratings, and the word authentic appeared a couple times. Now that I have read them, I would have known. I think I’ll stay away from any food claiming to be Mexican in Colorado Springs.

Absolutely incredible food. My favorite is the avocado pork burrito smothered in green chili. I get double rice because I love their rice. They have expanded the seating area quite a bit. It’s pretty inside! Still, expect to wait for a table if you go during a busy time. BRINGCASH. It’s a small family run business. Running credit cards costs money. Drop by an ATM before you go. It’s worth it.
