Hankering to go to the lake and get some good grub while you are at it? If so, this is your place. Don’t let the name fool you, this is a restaurant that serves quite a selection of beers and other alcohols, not a good old-fashioned«beer joint» that serves mediocre foodstuffs. Although its a bit off the beaten path, its worth the trip, in my estimation. The food was varied, I had fish, wife a steak(on 1st trip there), and both prepared exactly as was wanted. The sides were freshly prepared and quite tasty(salads were definitely NOT the commissary types) and fried items had been prepared in a way as to taste fresh and light, not dripping of old, mixed grease. The food was only outdone by the service, which has been outstanding on each visit. The staff is knowledgeable about the foods and drinks and sees to it that items are prepared as you order them(i.e. steaks are done as you wanted, not as someone else decided you wanted them.) The atmosphere is very nice, while the place is busy and not all that large, it never seems cramped(although not sure about weekend nights during boating season as have not been there then.) They have live music some nights which is surprisingly good. Also, there is outside dining, if you prefer that. They have some special nights designated for all you can eat types of things and I have been wanting to get out there on a Friday to see if the fish is as good then as it is the rest of the time. Call and ask them about the specials, but will tell you that we have never left hungry on our visits there. Overall, would say this place is a gem, try it, I think you will agree.
