I highly recommend Barre 3 to anyone looking for a great workout class! I took several classes at this studio and loved every minute of it. The hour long sessions go by quickly and are a great combination of traditional barre workouts while incorporating cardio and light weights(2 – 3 pound). I had taken classes at another barre chain in town and never felt like I was truly working out, but Barre 3 will make you sweat and feel like you’re time was well spent with an effective, fast-paced workout. The instructors were very helpful and offered modifications for beginners, intermediates, and those who were experienced during the classes.

Barre3 Columbia is absolutely the best! The Barre3 Columbia studio is welcoming and inviting. The spacious lobby is always clean, neat and organized. The staff and instructors are down to earth and always have a smile and kind word. I love the sense of community I feel with the instructors and friends I have made at the studio. The support and engagement help me power through challenging postures and keep me looking forward to the next workout, no matter how grueling. The Barre3 workout itself is a combination of ballet barre, yoga, and Pilates — the focus is on balance, strength, and flexibility. Using isometric holds and small, controlled movements, the aim is to strengthen and burn fat in a low-impact workout. However, the fact that it is «low-impact» does not mean that it is not physically demanding. YOUWILLSWEAT! Also, you will get your cardio in, but it is easy on your joints and there are always ways to modify positions. For people with prior injuries(like me) the modifications are often critical. I absolutely recommend you come try a class.

This review is for all of the’ not so skinny, not so young women; who want to try Barre3 but are intimated by the pictures of all of the gorgeous young women on the ads/website. Yes, the women are young and gorgeous! I wish I could tell you that they were just models, but they are real. However, the staff makes EVERYONE feel welcome. I have noticed that they are careful to not correct me more than twice during each class. And each time they correct me, they are polite and speak in a low voice. This is my 3rd week, so I am still a ‘newbie’. I hope I stick with it. I am working muscles that have never been worked in 57 years! Advice. allow a little extra time to get there because it might take you a few minutes to find a parking spot. If you are self-conscious like me, grab the back row and try to avoid looking in the mirror and comparing yourself to others. Try it! you will love it!
