We have been looking for a nice place to eat in Columbia and found it. The café is this small cabin sort of place tucked away in a corner and we loved the coziness of it. We ordered Pierogies and Pork Stew(hardly any waiting time at all) and both were excellent. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a small eatery to try some excellent European food. The Polish lady who served us was warm and great to talk to. There were also some pretty Impressionist paintings all over the walls. P. S. We had a raspberry drink and a lemon iced tea and they were pretty good too.

Absolutely loved this place. My daughter and I had the pierogis and my husband had the goulash… Everything was absolute delicious. The owner was fabulous and very warm and friendly. She told us they lost their lease and will only be here until December… That’s a huge loss for CoMo —

What a tiny establishment this was, but what a huge welcome I had when I sauntered into this little restaurant. This little restaurant is owned by a husband-and-wife team who are extremely down-to-earth, very accommodating, very friendly, and oh so sweet with all customers who venture through their doors. The food is excellent, knowing that it is prepared by first generation Polish immigrants who are proud of the fact that their recipes have never changed from the original recipes they inherited from their parents. The pierogies are flavorful, garnished with caramelized onions, while the goulash boasts such succulent meat in it, which simply melts in the mouth. The cabbage rolls are little packages of excellent aroma and flavor, tender and satisfying. If you want great and very cheap Polish food, this is the place to be.

Came here once when I was in town performing at the theatre across the street. Good little place to eat. The pirogies were homemade(made from scratch). The woman was literally peeling potatoes as we were leaving. I also tried the Borsch, which was interesting. Essentially it tasted like warm beet juice. I liked it! I wish the pirogies were a little bigger and richer in flavor(maybe more of a spice variety in the recipe?) but they were still tasty and I liked that they were homemade. Definitely worth trying!

Very good food! It’s like your grandmother is making you her Sunday best! Very nice staff and very helpful! Fast service. Can’t go wrong! Yes your food comes to you on disposable plates and such… But it didn’t bother me. Small area for seating inside.

Greeted immediately when we entered, it is a small area and she was very friendly while answering our questions about the menu. I don’t think this place would be good for a large amount of people, there were 4 tables and then a sort of bar stool area, could seat maybe 20 people total in the café, but for couples or small groups, it’s not too bad. We were planning to get coffee, but her espresso machine was broken, she still had the ability to make us some iced coffees. They were good. We ordered the plate of pierogies, half farmers cheese and half meat. I would highly recommend just getting the cheese as it was outstanding. Texture and flavor was amazing. They were served simply on a paper plate with a dollup of sour cream, but who cares how it’s served when it tastes this great? Also ordered the drinkable borscht. Again served in a paper cup with a spoon, she also offered a lid if we wanted to take it with. Flavor was full of earthy beetness and it was warm and soothing. I would love to eat here daily, lady was so sweet and the food was amazing!

Very happy with our decision to go to polish café! Wonderful family owned restaurant with hand crafted authentic meals. I am polish and I am a pierogi critic, and these did not disappoint. We also got the goulash and stuffed cabbage rolls which were also fanatic! Overall this place is great and we will definitely be back when we come through Columbia!

Delicious and authentic polish fare. We tried the perogies, cabbage rolls and sauerkraut-meat stew. All were excellent. We finished with the«Adult Ice Cream» — which the owner assured us was delicious(it was!). The café is small but cozy. The food came out quickly and there was no question it was prepared with care(the perogies were hand crimped). We were passing through — so glad we took the few extra minutes to drive toward the university for this place!

Potato and cheese and Meat Pierogies. Good authentic flavor. Bigo’s is sausage and sauerkraut with mashed potatoes, sausage very tender and kraut not to strong.

Let me tell you a story. On a Saturday last fall during a Mizzou football game, halftime came and my girlfriend informs me that she’d placed a carry-out order at a little restaurant downtown — a mom and pop shop that specialized in polish cuisine. With reluctance, I made the mad dash across town to pick up our food and get back in time for the second half. Unfortunately, I made it back halfway through the 3rd quarter. I underestimated drive time and hit every red light along the way. But in truth, I couldn’t care any less about the game. That’s how blown away I was by this little, hole-in-the-wall establishment and what it offers to our community. Upon arriving I let a gentleman know my name and an elderly woman, presumably from Poland, walked out from the back with my soup and perogies. She was very gentle with the way she handled the food and was very engaging and thoughtful. After speaking with her I really couldn’t wait to try the food, as it was so apparent how much care went into the preparation of the meal. As I got in my car, I noticed that the little old lady was scurrying to my car, breathing a little hard from her quick pace to the parking lot right next to their building. With a tender smile she exclaimed, «I am so, so sorry. I forgot napkins.» After handing me napkins she noticed that I was resting the bag between my feet with the styrofoam cup of soup between my legs in the seat. She made me promise to drive home very carefully because the soup was very hot and she didn’t want me to burn myself. I told her I would and went on my way. Just spending the few minutes I did interacting with her impacted my life a little, just a tiny bit, in a positive way. The food was great and it’s an excellent way to mix things up from time to time. People like those at Café Poland deserve to be recognized for the great things they do for all of us. Stop in and experience it for yourself. 5⁄5 — CD

The farmers cheese and potato perogies where very good perfect texture and a suttle blending of flavors. For a small restaurant they have a compact but veryed menu. Be warned they brew a strong coffee Americano, if you need a afternoon wakeup stop by for a cup it will do the job.

Fast, delicious, and authentic polish food. Well worth the distance off the main high way. Very sweet couple who runs the place. Highly recommend the Lecho and Perogies!

If my grandmother was Polish, I would imagine that her cooking would taste like this. I have never eaten Polish food before dining here(10+ visits now) but I’ve never had a mediocre meal. The food is fresh and homestyle with stews to warm up a cold night or rainy day. Who knew Borscht was so delicious? Lol. The owners are the sweetest and most dedicated people ever. Last time I went, the woman walked me out to my car to ensure that I didn’t spill the Lecho because I was holding a few things. Do not pass this place up.

So happy I stopped at Café Poland on a recent trip to StL. A little off the beaten Downtown COMO path sits the small café run by a mom and son from the old country. I ordered the golabki(polish cabbage rolls w/mashed potatoes) and my wife ordered a mixed plate of pierogies. Before the food arrives, take a minute to take in the surroundings. The record player against the wall by the one hole bathroom was rocking ELO when we arrived. Bob Marley and Journey records sat nearby. Seating is at a premium but don’t let that discourage you. The food will blow your mind. My grandmother was from Czechoslovakia and frequently made cabbage rolls. The golabki here can’t beat hers(blasphemy for even considering it) but they are outstanding. We’ll chalk it up to regional differences. The pierogies were freshly prepared and tasted great as well. They offer a range of beers(including some Eastern European brews) and a full espresso bar. Our tab was about 20 bucks for the two dishes, very reasonable for the heartiness and flavor. Check out the article about them in the Columbia Tribune a couple years ago. A great story about getting this place off the ground. This will be a «must stop» again when we travel through COMO. It’s just too good to pass up.
