This place is awesome. Great drinks, vibe and music. Only thing I wish they had better was some more seating facing the band. The bar is huge though and at least you can hear and kinda the band while having a drink at the bar. Highly recommend.

I like it here. My only complaint is that there are not enough original cocktails. They all seem pretty standard… I liked the atmosphere though. Prices were reasonable. Husband and I had a great time!

I’m gonna upgrade this one a bit. Still not really my kind of place, but I was impressed by the bartenders. I recently went in, and they made some great cocktails. I like that the bartenders dress up, but other than that I don’t get an old timey feel to the bar. I give it a 3, but I’d consider it more of a 3+.

I visited Delaney’s on a recommendation from a coworker and it was a nice little pub that had friendly faces, a decent draft list, and a good fish n’ chips. My server was very friendly and was pleasant throughout my time there. She helped me choose a correct portion size and was attentive when I needed a new drink. The table was dirty when I was seated bit was clean enough to not warrant a request for someone to clean it. The booth padding was aged/cracked but that is to be expected over time. The bar seemed to be a popular stop for many people but there were still plenty of seats available if needed. They are popular for live music but sadly I could not stay so I cannot attest to the music quality. Overall, it was a great place I would frequent regularly for drinks, studying, or just relaxing for an afternoon.

This is a great hole in the wall bar in 5 Points. The beer selection is awesome. They have over 170 beers to choose from. Tonight we went with the Sweett Baby Jesus Chocolate Peanut butter Porter. It is awesome. Tastes like a Reese’s peanut butter cup in a glass. The second beer we got was the Rogue Dead Guy. This beer comes from Portland and it is best served from the tap. Not quite as good as being in Portland bit a close second. If you are looking for an out of the way place with a good atmosphere(jazz music) with great bartenders and great beer and cocktails, this is the place for you.

I get that Columbia has a lack of good strictly cocktail joints(i.e. bar-only, not restaurant/bar), but Speakeasy is just terrible. The only thing it has going for it is physical atmosphere, which seems fun and sophisticated, but, judging from the cheap shots being quaffed, is quickly succumbing to undergrads. No cocktail menu here? That’s because the bartenders don’t know how to make cocktails(Manhattens without vermouth and surly bartenders who defend that rather than fix it). And, physically, it’s a health hazard, over-ridden by fruit flies and generally sticky. I’ve tried going back a couple of times now, but it’s only getting worse unfortunately. I’m out.

Rockin food… get the Whiskey steak sammich… you can’t go wrong… Have been coming there for years. Atmosphere is sucky-american-bar-meets-irish-wannabe, the service is generally only slightly better than completely lame, but the food is good and the location is right. Outdoor seating is nice, folks are friendly enough, and yeah, i’ve been back numerous times…

Located in 5 points, great Irish pub with outdoor seating for fun people watching. so if you want to drink a beer and keep up the latest USC co-ed fashions, check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Love this bar. Fun bartenders, a variety of drinks, improv cocktail-making, comfy couches, and rad musicians. Few places like it in Cola. Great atmosphere and the gem of five points(seriously, one of like, three good places that you can go in that area). 21+ too, so they weed out all the usual five points patrons.

The bartenders at Speakeasy are like magicians that make all your drinkable dreams come true. Sometimes I’ve had a bad day and I want to go grab a drink with a friend. Usually on bad days I don’t want to answer any questions or make decisions. I’m über annoyed with extra questions on bad days. Speakeasy is the perfect place to go. «I’m in the mood for something light and refreshing with gin.» And then poof — A Dirty Uncle appears. I still don’t know what exactly that is but it’s delicious. Try it with anything… «I like rum with a kick and a bit of citrus» might land you a Dark and Stormy(which I totally recommend because they make a stellar one). It’s a chill place to kick back. Check out the couches in the back or sidle up to the bar. It’s busy but not super crowded. They have music sometimes that is usually fabulous but maybe a bit loud. They host the Science Café at 6pm on the second Tuesday of each month too. Drinkin’ and learnin’? Score.

I do believe you need to check this place out after 10pm to get the full effect. I came in around 8pm and it was mind-numbingly dead in there. However, the space is pretty cool and they do live jazz music after 10pm most nights. The bar is huge, and the bartenders friendly and accommodating. There is a musky odor that greets you upon entry that tells the tale of many long and well drunk nights. Come here if you want something a little out of the ordinary.

NIce little hangout. Selection on the wall was nice though the pours were a little pricey. But hey, it is a jazz themed speakeasy so it comes with the territory. Unfortunately I was there on a Monday night following a big college game and it was empty except for myself and 2 – 3 others down the other end of the bar. The whole area was dead, so cant review too much.

Every night I’ve ever been here I’ve had a great, boozy night out. The atmosphere is cool and it has a big bar and couches that makes it easy, comparatively speaking. It’s no so much the college drinking crowd like some five points bars. But I like it.

I may have closed down this place. Things get a little fuzzy. Maybe it was the fireball shot that happened. Or the two negroni’s. Either way, things got fuzzy. What I do remember was that our bartender was super friendly and re-made my negroni when I asked for it up, instead of on the rocks. My man, I dig you! It didn’t necessarily seem like a speakeasy in the literal sense, as it was dimly lit, but didn’t really transport me to the days of yore when serving alcohol was illegal. Thankfully, we live in a day and age were it’s legal, and I partake. Obviously, maybe a little too much…

Walked into this place with a friend on a slow Tuesday night looking for a cocktail. We found the right place. The bartender was a good dude and was willing to get weird and do plenty of off menu stuff. Seems like that’s pretty much how it goes down here. I was initially looking for something spicy. He didn’t have any peppers but was able to make it work with a few other ingredients. I appreciate the creativity, although having some fresh peppers or spicy bitters on hand would be nice. I thoroughly enjoyed every drink he made for us as well as the good conversation. I will absolutely be back on my next trip to Columbia. Cheers to you bartender whose name I have forgotten, I think that means you did an excellent job!

I remember being in college and hanging out in five points and wondering why anyone would pay so much for a drink at Speakeasy — then I grew up, got some damn common sense, and realized this is the place you go for an actual«drink». No menus here — just tell the bartender what you are feeling and he will go from there. I’ve been as specific and picky as I wanted and they’ve always blown me away with what they bring back. I am a vodka soda kinda gal usually but no matter what I am feeling — they are spot on. Find me and the SO here on chill nights after dinner!

Speakeasy is one of the better hangouts in Columbia. It’s located in the slightly less sketchy part of Five Points, and the atmosphere is laid back and fun. There are big squashy couches in the back, and you can get a little privacy back there on nights the bar isn’t too crowded. The bartenders are fantastic, and it’s the only place in town that can whip up a decent Tom Collins. They also have a good selection of international beers. One of the bartenders is especially good — tell her what you like, and she’ll create something incredible for you. She’s my favorite bartender in Columbia. Jazz nights with live music are fun, albeit too noisy to converse and crowded. The crowd at Speakeasy is basically young and old, all different sorts, and I like that. If only the Speakeasy served food, I’d give it 5 stars!

Pleasantly surprised by this place, it’s got a huge selection of liquors, they can make a good manhattan and they have a pretty decent selection of beers on draft and bottles. A lot of specialty stuff like chimay and whatnot, the focus is definitely NOT on bud/coors/etc. It’s cozy, but not cramped and you can saddle up at the bar or sit in some couches and whatnot in the back area. The bartenders were real laid back and they had good music, but not too loud that you couldn’t have a normal conversation. Overall a great place to check out for some cocktails/martinis hang out in a laid back sorta upscale joint.
