this barbecue is killer good with their sauce. the cookies are thin but I brought six and they were amazing. docs is at all the football games off Williams St now. right next to black bean co whom is selling the old and stale recycled wraps. speaking of black bean, they have been reported for several dhec violations reusing old wraps and selling moldy cous cous at the store. black bean takes hours back from their employees and are also under contract with 256 to go, and that delivery service will release your info to the public! do your self a favor and bypass black bean at the game, and give docs a try. you won’t be disappointed!

Pretty good BBQ buffet and not as far out as little pigs. Great sauces. They have better sides than some of the other places.

A little off the beaten bath, I was brought here by a heavily accented local who gave directions like, «Go up ahead a little yonder then turn right.» These are the type of Unilocaling experiences I Unilocal for. Anyway, true to it’s name, it’s a BBQ buffet. For $ 10 you can gorge yourself on all the southern staples… pulled pork, fried chicken, catfish nuggets, chicken wings, mac and cheese, collared greens, coleslaw, rice, beans, hash, oka, and cobbler are just the bits and pieces I remember from this blur of a meal. With plenty of different BBQ sauces to top, of course. This place is true to its name and makes no bones about it, although for a cheaper price you can skip the buffet and get a preset 1 meat, 2 or 3 sides type of meal, why bother? Trying everything here is all the fun, and as far as I can tell you just can’t go wrong with anything they’re serving.

The food use to be great here I went here Friday and the catfish nuggets I use to think we’re awesome were mushy and not very good. The BBQ was Stivers good along with the fried chicken. It just makes me sad the catfish nuggets I use to crave are not that good now.

I am not going into great detail, but for $ 9.95 how can you beat all you can eat pulled pork, rice, mac and cheese, etc? I did not try everything on the menu, but the crowd for lunch on a Monday was all I needed to see. The sauces were awesome and the hash was very tasty. I am a southern food neophyte so I have little to compare with, but everything I had was all I could have asked for. Would love to try some ribs next time. I may have to do that before I leave town.

I love this buffet style southern buffet. Only problem is the food tastes so good I usually eat too much. Seating can be an issue if you go at lunch hour, place gets packed. Doc’s has a loyalty card, eat 10 times and get one meal free. Only open for lunch.

I usually don’t do bbq buffets because I leave feeling sick afterwards! I feel like I have to try a little bit of everything on the buffet in order for my visit to be worth it. Flawed thinking I guess but that’s just how I roll. Docs in short has a great reputation and their food for the most part, matches up. Standouts for me include their catfish nuggets and Mac n cheese. I think I enjoy the sides more than the actual bbq!

Awesome food not your regular buffet kids under 5 eat free, kids 12 and under 6 bucks, adults 10 bucks. Great dining experience

Yummy. Came down here with some NY family. We got a LOT of food. 3 people opted for the buffet, one person with the ribs basket with fried okra, one with the pulled pork sandwich, and one person attempted to eat a whole pound of catfish nuggets. We also got brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage«from the butcher». We normally don’t do buffets and try to stay away. But this place will be the exception. Firstly, it’s hard to get parking. I started my lunch late at 1:00 pm and it was still hard to find parking! That’s a great sign. Inside was crowded too. We were a party of six and first settled in a tiny table with extra chairs… until we saw a party of two leave a long table and made a beeline. Phew! I came in expecting to love the barbecue, but I absolutely fell in love with their catfish nuggets. Wow! I had never been a catfish fan, but I guess I’ve been eating it all wrong! These are the best.(No, I didn’t get the pound — that was my father, who succeeded in his mission — I got mine from the buffet.) Their mac and cheese is pretty good too. My sister loved her pulled pork barbeque. My aunt devoured the fried okra basket. Everyone praised the fried chicken and wondered aloud how southerners do it so crispy and juicy. The corn bread was to die for, and I really enjoyed those flat little biscuits(our first time partaking). I went up to the buffet twice… three…four…okay FIVETIMES. And each time the food was replaced with a fresh batch. Yummy. The peach cobbler was good but oh boy that banana pudding — I’m in love. Not disgustingly sweet, almost only relied on the sweetness of the banana. Perfect. The busboy(man?) was so nice and friendly and very prompt. A+ So why four stars? My aunt didn’t care so much for the collard greens. Being originally from the north, I haven’t eaten them much. She recalls the greens that were made by some of her southern friends up in NYC and said theirs had a different flavor. I told her perhaps it’s a regional thing and she considered that. I didn’t particularly like the brisket and I LOVE brisket. It was a bit dry. Didn’t even have any brisket sauce. :’( My favorite barbecue so far in our SCBBQ adventures has been The Smokin’ Pig in Pendleton, SC. I love their brisket and their ribs WOWZA. Also: Jalapeño Cheese Grits. Just sayin’. But this place is awesome and a steal. A –good quality– buffet lunch under 10 bucks! I’d be there everyday if I didn’t have any concern for my waistline.

No better place in Columbia to go pig out for lunch then pass out on the couch! Mustard-based BBQ and a healthy selection of sides!

I love pulled pork bbq and in Columbia, SC this is where I go! The buffet is great! Hash and rice, chicken — fried or smoked, catfish nuggets — amazing, collard greens, pulled pork bbq with two different sauce choices, slaw, potato salad and more! I usually walk out of here hating myself because I gorge myself on all of the delicious southern food! Definitely a great spot to check out if you have a big appetite or if you love southern food!

Doc’s BBQ blew my mind and I definitely will go again. Whether it was the quality of the food, the amount of food available, Price of the Buffet or the Staff, they all exceeded my expectation. This is hands down the best BBQ buffet I have ever eaten at. The sides were all delicious and the meats were right up there in deliciousness. It is a must go for anyone in the area. It is located just near the Gamecocks Football Stadium and just south of Campus. The food was cheap and we were even given a free meal for one in our party, now that is hospitality. Give Doc’s a try everyone, You shouldn’t be disappointed. PS — If they have peach cobbler, definitely make sure you give that a try!

Lunch buffet is legit. Under $ 10 with a drink and a big selection of meats, salads and greens. The catfish bites are very tasty and their sauces are good. Some of the offerings rotate, but if you see the peach cobbler, it’s your lucky day.

Who cares about buffets I don’t I always eat too dam much lol ! But I really enjoyed taking my 85 yr old grandad to get a a couple sandwiches here home and watch a good baseball game. The barbecue was good to me and my grandad like it or we wouldn’t have come back. I would recommend coming here if you want to-go food and don’t want to kill your self eating at the buffet table. Easy place to find near the football stadium on Shop rd. plenty of parking.

I shy away from steam table buffets I’m too young to die, but DOC’s has got it down. Every item is fresh and prepared on the location. I’ve eaten there many times and every time I’ve seen the buffet items removed when they get down to ¼ or so and refreshed with new items, never just topped up {see the near death experience}. Plate #1 photo from 9 oclock. contained good olé southern sides; greens cooked with meat, Hash on rice {a true SC thing folks}… mac & real cheese, fried catfish nuggets {fresh fish & crispy not oily}, baked beans {fresh no cans involved}. This was the starter plate. Plate #2 fresh corn casserole, more mac & cheese, a mountain of excellent BBQ {hey, it’s all you can eat ;)) }, and very crispy fresh cole slaw. What should be chilled, is. What should be hot is steaming. Choice of mustard or vinegar red pepper sauces. Todays desert was butter, butter, butter infused crunchy topped peach cobbler. Yes I’ve got to use«fresh» yet again ’cause these peaches have never seen a can. Busy at lunch time. The fried chicken is legendary, but you just can’t do it all in one sitting.

Their 10 dollar lunch buffet makes it really hard to say anything bad about this place. The people are friendly, the food is fresh and hot, and the staff easily handles a 50 – 70 lunch rush while maintaining a relaxed setting. This was one of my first southern BBQ experiences, but I was brought here by authentic southerns. I was told this was some of the best BBQSC had to offer. I loved the fried chicken and the pulled pork definitely did not taste like $ 10 buffet meat! The three star rating is mainly because I’m not too crazy about southern food, and as good as the food was, it wasn’t something I see myself craving again. I don’t think anyone would regret giving this play a try. Just be prepared to be tired and useless the rest of day. Itis hits hard after a visit to Doc’s.

First time in Columbia, SC and it was suggested that we eat at this place. I love BBQ and I figured it would be decent. Boy was I wrong. I feel in love with the mac & cheese and sweet potatoes. Both reminded me of my moms during Thanksgiving. I also loved the pulled pork with the sweet vinegar sauce. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I was in heaven. Also, let me give honorable mention to the sweet tea. I normally shy away from sweet tea because it is not sweet enough. I grew up having mine diabetic coma sweet which is how I like it. Doc’s lived up to my expectations and I loved it! I would highly recommend Doc’s! We went for lunch and it was buffet style. The buffet consisted of the basics and was simple and oh so good. Lastly, they have this brownie dessert that is warm ooeey and gooey!!! mmmmm heaven in my mouth!!!
