Very old schooled It’s been the same since my mom use to take me there. Great food good service. I recommend it to anyone looking for some good fast food. It reminds me of home.

The food was fine. However the lack of service was repulsive. It appeared that it was an inconvenience to serve my friends and I. I had to ask if that was our good when it came up. The girls behind the counter treated everyone as if they were homeless people asking for handouts. Not very pleasant!

Went here on New Years Eve for a quick bite based off of the reviews on here and we had high expectations that just weren’t met. We passed a Church’s chicken on the way here and that would have been half the cost and more flavorful I am sure. My chicken sandwich was dry and flavorless. The kids burgers were so thin and pitiful looking. We won’t be back. I hate paying $ 30 for food and wishing I went somewhere else.

This is a great hidden gem on Main Street in Columbia. It is across from the Museum of Art. The chicken sandwiches are awesome. Big and juicy, cooked perfectly! The burgers are a hit as well. They serve breakfast which I have never had but I have always heard good things.

Chicken was dry and the fries were bland. Don’t see the appeal of this place after reading such great reviews. The positives were the portion size and price. The staff was friendly and it was a very quick order, but I left feeling disappointed in the overall quality of food. Note: I tried Drake’s again today, almost two weeks later and about three hours earlier in the day(due to reviewer recommendations), and the chicken was still very dry. Other than a cheap and quick stop in the downtown area, this restaurant doesn’t offer much to bring me back.

One of the best hidden gems of Columbia! The burgers are great and the chicken sandwich is amazing. The fries are simple but perfect and for a place so convenient to the downtown area you will be shocked knowing your meal is only going to run you about 6 bucks.

Quick lunch spot on Main Street. The Chicken sandwich here is good. Flavorful and juicy. The slaw that comes with the basket is pretty tasty too.

Recently, I was asked for recommendations about places to eat on Main Street. I gave a long list, but realized I had never been to any of the restaurants. So, Drake’s Duck-In is the first stop on my adventure to experience more of my hometown’s eateries. I ordered the Chicken Filet Sandwich Basket, that comes with slaw and fries. I’m always interested in the slaw – is it sweet, heavy on mayo, vinegar-based – and how it is put together. Drake’s is a mayonnaise base and sweet. The cabbage is chopped. I enjoyed it. The sandwich was excellent and a large portion of crispy fried chicken breasts were on a typical burger bun with mayonnaise and plenty of pickles. The batter on the breasts was light and perfectly fried. There were two pieces of chicken on the sandwich. For me, it needed seasoning, but that’s not a big deal. A little salt and pepper fixed that. The fries in the basket were common. Next time, I will likely skip the fries. Not awful, but they do not add anything to the meal. Ketchup and lots of salt made them better. Bathroom was clean enough for me as was the rest of the restaurant. It is old, but we will call that«character» and enjoy its crow’s feet. Service was very fast and friendly. I was there about noon on a Monday. All in all, a very good experience for a chicken/burger joint with some history in this town. I will be back for more!

I went for a late lunch. Consensus says you should go at noon, but oh well. They serve a bunch of different types of chicken and also burgers. I played it safe and ordered the chicken fillet combo, which comes with fries and a medium drink. The total was around $ 6. The sandwich is very large and comes topped with mayo and pickles. I wish mine had more pickles, since they really add to the flavor. The chicken was not greasy at all, was very tender, and was lightly seasoned. The fries were thick cut and cooked just the way I like them, with a crispy outside and soft center. They needed a little salt, but there’s salt shakers on every table. I was stuffed after my meal. I would definitely recommend coming here! You will be stuffed, satisfied, and supporting a local Columbia business.

Great old school place, last time I was here was 18 years ago and it’s exactly the same. Warning, no gluten free menu here, this place is old school southern soulish fast food with old cheap décor. I got the 3 piece fried chicken basket and the chicken was juicy with great fires and some cole slaw. Super fast counter service, a real hoping place at lunchtime and a Columbia Classic. It would be 5 stars from me because it does hit it’s mark for being exactly what it’s trying to be but the bathroom was pretty bad and I don’t care how divey, simple, old school or whatever you are trying to be you can still have a clean bathroom.

Great food for a great price is not a cliché here. This is a Columbia staple that I sadly had not tried until this week. Service took less than 2 minutes, and my fried chicken basket was so well seasoned, without leaving me feeling sick from too much grease. It’s casual, friendly and just a fun place to have lunch, all for under $ 10!

This place is always busy and for good reason! Their filet combo with the lettuce and tomato is phenomenal! It’s a full beast fried with delicious seasoning!

Best fried chicken on Main Street! Drake’s is a Main Street institution. You can’t find a better chicken sandwich in town(including Chick-fil-a). Their chicken tenders, hot dogs, and burgers are also delicious! They are unbelievably fast and friendly! It’s worth going just to see how fast and effecient the staff is. They pop the bags open effortlessly and in an impressive fashion. I eat lunch here at least once a month and have for the better part of a decade.

Stopped in just before close on a Saturday. Should have known better. Sandwich would have been great several hours earlier but had clearly sat to the point of being dry and quite chewy. I’m not prepared to count them out tho so I’ll try again around lunch.

Stumbled on this place while in Columbia. If you want a lot of food for a great price go here. Great chicken filet sandwich. Friendly service and very quick. I would def come back if I’m in town looking for something cheap and delicious.

An unassuming shop that resembles any other fast food chicken joint(think Popeye’s). Almost completely empty when walking in, so I got my order of chicken and fries in about 4 minutes. Chicken is moist but not as oily as KFC. I would say it’s on par with Popeye’s. Fries were really good. The bread was soft, but lacked any flavor whatsoever, so had to add butter. A good place to grab some chicken if looking to be in and out in 15 minutes.
