So good that I came here twice in one day! The coffee here is great — it is carefully brewed and has a deep flavor. The tuna sandwich for lunch was also delicious, and created without any mayo, so you get a deep and complex flavor from the ingredients. They also don’t care if you hang out here all day — I pretty much did and had a great, productive time!

Stopped in Columbia on our way to Charleston. Cute little place downtown. Gluten free options a plus. Wonderful coffee. Chorizo English muffin was delicious. As well as the prosciutto lunch sandwich with olive pesto. Sat outside with our 6 month old. Fast service.

Let’s be honest here, this coffee shop, this veritable oasis of caffeinated hot bean water could have called themselves anything. They could have gone with Drop, Plop, Plip or any other onomatopoeic label, but Drip? Now that’s high energy. The coffee selection is yuge. They have the best drinks, the best words, they’re winners okay? All those other low energy coffee shops can’t compare. They have fantastic relationships with China(I think), and they’re striving to Make Columbia Great Again. You stroll up into Drip smack down a fiver and say give me that juice I need to make big plays in the state house and they say that’s not enough because let’s face it some of their drinks can be a little pricey. So you smack down another fiver and they hook you up with a pour over cup of coffee that they pour over the details of. Hit Drip in the morning, hit it at night, but not too late because let’s face it they close pretty early. All joking aside this is a top shelf café with a good atmo and friendly staff, you won’t find better coffee in Downtown Columbia.

Out-of-towner excited to find an alternative to Starbucks and support a local business. The breakfast menu seemed promising. I ordered their version of a nova lox bagel(it was decent) and asked for a dark roast coffee. «Uh, we have medium roast?» Ok, fine, I ordered the medium roast. Weak and barely hot. Not a busy morning in the shop, but their half & half container was empty nonetheless and the coffee-doctoring area was a mess. Their fancy iPad point-of-sale device allows you to add a tip via your credit card, which I did, then noticed when I sat down there are cute little signs on all the tables asking you to bus your own table. I get this place is trying to be hip and subversive, but they are missing the mark on service and quality.

Every time I visit Columbia, my morning routine involves stopping by at Drip. I keep joking with the staff that it is like the toll I pay every day for going from waking up to getting to work. It’s not just the coffee in the morning but the lovely, cheerful, and friendly staff that make my day start off on a high note. Goofy and funny but caring folks over there, so much so that we have inside jokes of our own now. You need to have a bit of good sense of humor to enjoy the banter! Or just enjoy the coffee and delicious grub whatever time of the day, while listening to some wonderful music always ideal for the day/setting. This review was a long time due but one of them recently went out of her way to walk me to my car with an umbrella when it was pouring rhinos and elephants to save me and more importantly my bag(= my work = my life) I had to give them a shout out. Tip: If you want to get the best service, and be loved then be sure to tell them a bad joke! ;-)

I noticed this coffee shop on Unilocal and asked my friends to stop by here on our way back from lunch. We had to work remotely afterward and I needed a pick-me-up. I ordered a soy dirty chai to get some caffeinated sweetness in my system since we didn’t have dessert with our large lunch. It was pretty good at a relatively affordable price. I’ve had bad chai before and thankfully, this one wasn’t bad. My friend ordered an Italian cream cake, which was delicious. Not overly sweet but went great with our espresso and coffee. It was a huge slice, so we split it, but we still couldn’t finish it. There’s limited indoor seating but there’s some outdoor patio seating. However, the weather wasn’t suitable for it, so we chose to sit indoors. The parking isn’t easy, either, but since we weren’t staying long, we parking in one of the few 30 minute street parking spots outside. I wasn’t impressed but it’s a hipster little joint to grab some local coffee if you’re in the area.

Prince died today. I was in Columbia for a conference and, having grown up to Prince music, I was devastated. I walked in to drip for a latte(my comfort food) and what was playing? My favorite Prince song! Baby I’m a Star! Boy was he ever. Thank you to the awesome staff at this little coffee shop for allowing me to celebrate Prince’s musical legacy today.

Me and my girlfriend decided to forego coffee at home and head to Drip on Main to sit outside and enjoy the nice day. Unfortunately, we were left knowing we’d never return. She ordered a coffee with some sugar free vanilla flavoring. She doesn’t usually order flavors or anything sugar free, and just wasn’t feeling it. So, I said let me go grab just a normal coffee instead. For some reason, this was a hard thing for the OWNER to comprehend, yes, we learned he was the damn owner of the place. Firstly, he looked at me like I was insane and said«I don’t understand, this is what she ordered» and couldn’t comprehend that we wanted to just switch it out. He went on a few more times about how he was«torn» over what to do since that’s what we ordered. Once he finally says he’ll do it, he quips as I walk away«I’ll do it this time, but next time it’s on her». When I questioned what he said, he exclaimed that it was«a joke». I couldn’t enjoy sitting there and drinking their pretentious brew as I was filled with a slight rage. DESPICABLE customer service. I’ve seen expensive steaks sent back at 5 star restaurants that went smoother than this, and this was a 2 dollar cup of coffee. Oh, and to top it off we tipped these goons when we paid, wow. We won’t be back.

For a city that revolves around its Hipster vibe as much as the government/politics vibe(this is the state capital) you sooner or later begin to expect every place to be managed by tattooed Millennials who disdain people of my generation. Drip was a pleasant exception and although over-staffed with collegians and pushing forward a menu clearly born in a corporate marketing committee, they are head and shoulders above folks like Starbucks and it’s fake European ambiance. our new go-to for coffee in downtown Columbia.

By far the best latte and coffee in Columbia! Do yourself a favor and try the honey habanero latte. It is one of their house made syrups and it is awesome!

Chicago’s «Foodie on Foot» Rosa J. is doing her thang in Columbia, SC. It’s a town that once was my home in my teenage years. However, Columbia is somewhat foreign to me nowadays and I didn’t have much faith in finding a local coffee shop. «Drip» came up to the top of search, located in downtown Columbia. Street parking is available. Luckily being Chicagoan we always have cash and coins on us just in case. Eighty(80) cents got us twenty-four(24) minutes behind the coffee shop. They use«Counter Culture Coffee.» I remember one(1) of the coffee shops I’ve visited a Chi-town used the beans from this company based in Durham, NC. That was as local as you could get in Columbia. Three(3) stars are given for my passion for supporting local businesses. Nevertheless, I wasn’t too crazy about the taste of my latte. It lacked the smooth first note and left with an indescribable bitterness. The basil scone was decent. I don’t know where they source their pastry items. I was quite surprised with the pricing: almost $ 4(16 oz.) for a large latte. I constantly pay that price in Chicago and thought prices would scale down to fit the demographics here. I have a high standard on independent coffee shops, and«Drip» is a forgettable one.

«Dread Coffee?» «Cooool!» I stated, nooo silly«Driiip». Guess I gotta up my southern hearing game a few notches. The esoteric breakfasting menu read well, as I closely eyeballed Duck Confit Egg option but I opted out and went straight for the coffee. Brewed individually, the coffee took a while noted by the customers –come lately– supplanted me one after one in front of the register. Five ladies behind the counter doing the work of two point five as the future of Star Wars films to be were in deep and heated debate. Just under six bucks for two very average large coffees with an odd after taste and the above shenanigans just don’t merit the higher rating I had hoped to assign.

Curry hummus veggie wrap for the win! I’m not sure how they did it but it was the perfect combination of flavor. The hummus had a unique taste, but didn’t overpower the rest of the veggies. I don’t usually comment on standard drinks, but I also had their lemonade and it was beyond refreshing and the perfect compliment to the wrap. To top it all off, everyone there was beyond friendly and made the experience that much better.

Located across the street from the Columbia Art Museum, this tiny coffee shop is a good spot for refreshing after a visit, or perking up before tackling the wonderful world of the museum! There’s a tiny bit of seating in the coffee shop, and lots more in the atrium of the office building in which it’s located. The pour over carafes get a lot of use, and the resulting cup of coffee is worth the wait. You can get a drip coffee as well, and the baristas seem to care about giving you a nice experience… would definitely go back when in town.

It’s always hard for me to rate coffee houses as the only«hot» drink I order is Hot Chocolate. Drink-wise, nothing over the top, even though I got a little extra treat that decorated the drink(chocolate something or another). My review is pretty much +‘s and -‘s. The location itself is in somewhat a good location(it’s located in the Wells Fargo Building) and am pretty sure most of their business is M-F mornings /early afternoons. For me, one of the downsides was the space of the store. It only had one(maybe two) tables and a couple of barstools(even though there were several tables expanding out into the main lobby of the building. There are also about 5 – 6 tables outside as well. The only other downside is hours. They close at 7(and I’m not even sure if they are open on the weekends. Now that there is USC housing(and a Starbucks nearby), I’m surprised they don’t stay open later(even though you can continue to sit at the patio past 7). Pluses– they do serve(some) wine and I heard they may even serve(some) beer — which I’m sure you can’t get at other coffee shops!

I lived on this place while I stayed nearby for business for a number of months. I have dreams about the lovely coffee I was mere steps away in Columbia. I struggle to find a coffee this amazing in ATL. Seems like the pour over method is the way to go. Staff is nice and pretty quick. They have yummy food too and their breakfast sandwiches are fantastic. Bless this place! Please move to ATL.

I’m a sucker for this business model. Minimalist, small square footage, home grown, authentic, with acute attention to detail. If I were to open a coffee shop this is how I’d do it. A unique but doable menu(everything is either cold prepped or put in a sandwich press) drip brewed coffee served in huge chunky colorful flatware. Everything was quite good, the coffee was unique, if I had to hazard a guess the beans they use are highly caffeinated. It has that tinge of bitterness that I’ve come to associate with the more powerful coffees I’ve sampled. Service was super super friendly. Everyone was professional and kind, similar to what you’d expect from an enthusiastic owner only it was spread across the staff. The décor is über modern and clean. They keep track of the sit down orders with old rock and roll placards… In my case it was a portrait of kiss. You put it down on your table and I’m sure on their end they note it on the order, then it’s easy for them to come find you. I was quite content with just about every aspect, from price to service to quality. The only thinking keeping it from five stars for me personally is that you can only do some much food prep wise with such a small area, barristas(not cooks) and a sandwich press. I appreciate that food’s offered, it IS good — and their menu is just unique enough to set it apart(expect to see pork belly, brie, aioli etc. The kind of new age standard ingredients that are popping up) but if it’s not some of the best food I’ve had I can’t rate it as such. So, great coffee(if you’re super manly and awesome give the honey habanero syrup a try, it’s got quite the kick) good food, and some of the friendliest staff ever. They asked me if I wanted what amounts to a rewards card for free stuff, I regretfully informed them I’m from across the country so it wouldn’t be much use. If I was local though, I would have happily agreed and made liberal use of it, I’m sure.
