luckily Taco Bell is across the parking lot and if I am ever forced to choose between the two I will choose Taco Bell. Service was poor almost no one got what they ordered. when the order was sent back it took twice as long to get t he reorder. The restaurant was really dirty, this was not dirt from last night but it has been growing for months if not years. One attention to detail items noticed beyond the dirt and the food quality and the poor service. they still have Christmas decorations up and this is the end of January

The rice is rice and the beans are beans. But the place has beer and the Chile Verde was fantastic. Service was great. I will be back.

The food is OK, nothing fancy. Drink specials will make it worth your time if you’re looking to wet the whistle. M-F from 5 – 10 half pitchers of imports run $ 3.99 and domestics are $ 2.99, that is cheap drinking and I don’t care where you come from! I had the Jimador burrito(chicken), more beans and rice than burrito, and the beans looked like they were in a pan since sunrise(I was there for a 7pm dinner). All in all, I don’t think I would eat here again but it definitely wasn’t the worst. I travel a lot in Missouri, and 2 things I have considered to be truth… 1: there is a Mexican restaurant and a Chinese buffet in EVERY town, 2: don’t eat the Chinese. Sure I wouldn’t go out of my way, but I wasn’t upset about the food, price, or service. Full plate of food, big beer and a 30% tip and still kept it under $ 20; it is what it is.

Lucked out and the special for the day was exactly what I was looking for! Thought the food was tasty, service was good, chips were decent and it was a good value.

The food left a lot to be desired. The enchilada, taco and bean burrito were boring. There was no flavor, no pico de gallo, no hot salsa. The refried beans are probably from a can… and not a good one. The horchata was ok, and the chile relleno was filled with real cheese. Our waiter was dismissive and brought us our check not even halfway through our meal. Disappointing when you are craving Mexican or Tex-Mex.

Food is just okay. Service is pretty lax. A lady(manager or owner I assume) is wondering around doing NOTHING while customers sit and wait for water, checks, etc. oh, and she’s wearing house slippers! I will probably not return, unless it’s for less than par $ 1.99 margaritas!

My husband and I eat here about 1 or 2 times a month. We LOVE it. Best mexican restraunt in Columbia, hands down. Food is great, and if there is any issue the owner George always fixes it without complaints. Rice is amazing. Cheese dip is amazing. Salsa is amazing. And I have never tried anything I didn’t like there. Service is also great usually(like 97% of the time). Price is reasonable. For chips and salsa(free) and cheese dip, 2 sodas, and 2 entrées it is always under $ 30 for us. 5 stars!

Seriously the only reason I come back is cause of the food. The service is absolutely terrible! They always mess everything up down to the drink order. And there’s barely any tequila in their margs! the queso dip was cold. On top of it all they took our orders on an iPad which gave us hope that everything would actually be correct. Nope wrong again folks they still screwed it up! Word of advice don’t go to the location off of Clark lane. It’s not worth your time

If you have ever had Mexican food from the west coast, then don’t eat here. No screw that — if you ever had TACOBELL, DON’T EATHERE. It’s freakin HORRIBLE. Please note folks of Columbia: THEFOODATTHISRESTAURANTISNOTMEXICANFOOD. The rice was from a frozen bag mix. The beans were old and quite questionable. The chicken was boiled with no flavor, and the«nacho cheese sauce?» That was obviously that plastic American cheese that doesn’t melt very good(plus, I think they forgot to take the plastic off). The«chimichanga»? And the«chili colorado»? NO. RESTAURANT, YOU’REDOINGITWRONG. Bad, BADRESTAURANT! Go to the Internet and look up the recipe!!! People go to restaurants to have food that has flavor. This restaurant doesn’t know what that is. Call me crazy, but hey El Jimador! Spices can be fun! Try them! There are more than salt! It’s wacky I know!!! Everything except the chips was inedible. I’m sorry — I really don’t get this harsh, but GOODGODTHATWASHORRIBLE.

I love Mexican food, but generally speaking, I feel like all Mexican places are about the same. This one stands out. They offer a grilled chicken quesadilla that is the single best quesadilla I have had in my life. In additional to excellent seasoning and awesome cheese, it was STUFFED with chicken. It put the similar quesadilla I had at a downtown place the week before to shame. Their chips were fresh and tasty. The tacos were also a stand out. The beef had an almost sweet taste to it that really made it stand out in a good way. Service was excellent as well. As good as it gets for Mexican food in Columbia.

Service was really prompt and they had no problem expediting our order which was great since we had a concert to attend. The food was very good and the chips and salsa were great(ask for the hotter salsa if you prefer) The margaritas seemed to be a bit light on the tequila but the flavor was good. They do have some decent tequilas at the bar so don’t be afraid to try them! I’ll certainly be back but I’ll suggest they make the margaritas a little stronger

Food is good, but I wouldn’t call it fantastic. It is a nice place to get a bowl of chips, a margarita, and have a good time with friends. It is never too loud and there is plenty of seating. The prices are one of the cheapest in town.

Had my husbands left over lunch from this place and it was decent but does NOT compare to the awesome Mexican food back home in California! Midwest Mexican food does not exist period! If you want awesome Mexican food you will get addicted to, head west to the land of awesomeness called California!

I’ll admit, I have never had anything else there besides my chicken Nachos. But they are the best chicken nachos I have been able to find. Love the Queso cheese! Every once in a while it comes out a bit runny but still amazing tasting. Their margaritas are pretty good as well, depending on who is making it.

Mexican is by far my favorite food choice. I have eaten at most of the mexican restaurants in town and I find myself keep going back to El Jimador. Service is better than most places, little slower when busy but what do you expect. My favorite dish is the Chicken Nachos El Jimador. A must have. Almost to big for one person so a great share or appetizer for a group. Dont forget the white cheese sauce for your chips.

Awful service and people do not speak English! I could not understand the waiter at all. My chips and salsa came out after my cold, bland food. I ordered the Guadalajara without sour cream and it had extra sour cream. Food was not gross, just bland. I won’t go back!
