Gymboree Play & Music

My friends hosted their daughters 3^rd birthday party here and there was one lady running the show. She sure earned her paycheck!
Parents brought their kids (everyone needs to wear socks so bring a pair!) and played with them in the climbing play area. The lady read a story and then lead the kids thru over an hour of different activities. It’s better for all the parents to play too and encourage participation. Our lady was super patient and made sure no kids jumped off the platforms and onto each other.
The best parts of the party were the tree chopping and rolling along with the parachute. I thought the last part of cake and presents were rushed because we couldn’t stay in the party room for over 2 hrs but that maximizes play time. I would bring a serving knife set because the lady cut the cake for us with a plastic knife and in all different cake sizes.
It was a fun and action packed afternoon… we needed a real meal afterwards!

I have been struggling this winter to find fun activities for my 16 month old to do. We normally go for walks and to parks but it’s been too cold. My friend suggested I come with her to Gymboree on a Saturday. This location is five minutes from my house.
I brought my son in and the place was super clean. The employees were very sweet and helpful. The entire location is set up with indoor playground equipment for children under 5. There are mats set up under all of the equipment. My son immediately pushed through the gates and ran in to explore.
The class was 45 minutes long. The theme of the day was «up» and «down». Kids are able to explore and learn and then every 5 minutes or so, the group leader hits a tambourine to gather the children for a song, dance or parachute play. The best part is that they don’t force you to participate. Some of the kids were into it and some wanted to do their own thing.
After the class was over, my son was exhausted. He had so much fun that I signed up for a membership.
The first class was free. Usually a new member is a $ 50 fee but they had a special and that fee was waved. For $ 69 a month, you can attend 4 classes and have unlimited open play.
The only issue I have is that the open play hours are geared towards stay at home moms or nannies (from 10am to 1pm) There is only 1 evening open play hours on Wednesday (5pm to 7pm). I feel like we should be able to go to however many classes we want and there should be more open gym hours for $ 70 a month. If I signed up for an actual gym, I’d be furious if they put a limit on how many times I could go to.
Overall, I’m excited to have this option for the winter season. We will probably freeze the membership (no fee to freeze) when it gets warmer.

We went here for a birthday party and my kids had a blast. They were a little old for some of the stuff but especially for younger kids it looks like it would be a good way for them to safely explore, be active, and it’s so interactive. Even the older kids were having fun the whole time. The instructors/​staff were so friendly and really kept the kids entertained. There’s music activities, games, and a chance for kids to play with others their own age.

This is a great place for kids of practically all ages. I had been attending with my son from about 6 months to 18 months when we moved away.
We loved going there, the staff was always friendly and helpful and they do encourage them to involve in activities but know that a 1 year old doesn’t care what you want :) When my son fell and busted his lip they were great about making sure he was okay and getting us first aid supplies and the like.
They have a very liberal make-​up policy if you or the little ones can’t make it for a week. They also have free gym play time and if you’re not sure you can go to their website and sign up for a free trial class.

Went to this location for a 3-year-old’s birthday party. Our daughter had a great time along with everyone else. The manager, Rachel Rash, really did a fantastic job for the party.

We started our son in Gymboree at 15 months old through 3 years old. It is a bit expensive but I can’t think of any other place where a child learning to walk can do so safely (other than at home of course). The floor is pretty much cushioned from wall to wall as is the equipment. The equipment isn’t cushioned completely… there’s some wood that is bare, but otherwise the room is pretty safe! I think our son really learned how to climb at Gymboree (a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it ;))! Most of the instructors are very good… there are those that really accentuate their words and talk loudly to get the kids attention … and others just sort of go through the motions. They really try to get the parents involved as the instructors can’t give every kid the attention they need… most parents participate. The circle time activites are great… if you can get your kid to participate… but otherwise, they can just play on the equipment like the other reviewer mentioned. Circle time favorites include… bubbles and Gymbo the clown puppet. I’d definitely recommend Gymboree. We stopped going only because our son reached an age where the classes offered conflicted with other activities.

I have only been once for the free trial, but I thought it was worth a review. The class session for my 16 month old was 45min, which successfully wore him out! The website is easy to use and the ‘instructor’ was very kind. I liked that they encouraged the children to participate in the activities, but recognize that at such a young age, they just want to play! My son had a blast jumping, climbing, running, falling, exploring and just being a little boy. Parents are very involved and are required to stay within arms reach of their children. This is not a glorified daycare! Come prepared to run around in your socks, sing, and enjoy some fun time with your little one.
The price is STEEP! They run frequent specials. I haven’t decided if we will sign up for a membership or not. We are in the process of house hunting, but if I can do a short term contract or a month to month, I will. This place will be great to get the energy out on cold days.

My wife and I have been taking our now 10 month old son since he was 3 months to Gymboree in Columbia. We started with a level 1 class for little babies and now he’s in level 3 where the kids are actively crawling and some are walking. I enjoy this as great father and son time, as I primarily take him on Saturdays as I work full-​time. My wife takes him to open gym periodically during the week days. We think evening open gyms or evening classes would fit our schedule nicely but the evening class schedules in Columbia are very limited.
We enjoy the developmental element of Gymboree and we feel our child is developing appropriate motor skills, confidence and socialization skills in Gymboree. It’s fun to watch the kids play and discover new tools and noise makes.
We are considering trying one of the music or art classes, but we need an evening option as the week day classes are only tailored to stay at home moms. What about dads or working parents.
Overall we enjoy Gymboree, but would like to see more evening classes and open gyms available.
