I read through the other posts … and I will agree that Dr. Hessan’s style can verge on a little arrogant & at times I’ve felt he was a little more snippy than necessary. However, my interpretation of this has always been that he has been doing this for a very long time — He cuts to the chase, bases his opinions and diagnoses on facts, and takes the actions necessary to scientifically and medically gather evidence before going down a certain path. Even though he can(and I say«can» because it’s not all the time) be a little snarky, he is also a good listener. He also doesn’t pretend to be an expert in areas in which he doesn’t have expertise, which is good. I had the opposite experience as the other poster — Dr. H did take my then-2 year old daughter’s ‘word’ into account(just not as the ultimate truth, as sometimes small kids can’t really articulate what the issue is). He is the right combination of aggressive and conservative with treatments, surgeries, etc. He has always been sensitive to the condition of our family as a result of my daughter’s health and not just limiting it specifically to her symptoms(read: He saw how little sleep I was getting, too, and I think he factored in the long-term trauma and stress into making a more aggressive recommendation). He is VERY good with small children. My daughter absolutely loves him. He is gentle and not in the least bit ‘scary.’ My daughter has had ear tubes in, adenoids out, and sinus surgery with him(a total of 2 surgeries). She is not even five yet. For three years, I tried natural/organic/Eastern alternative and reluctantly considered more traditional means… Being totally desperate, I finally ended up in his office and over time, in retrospect, I think that working with him has resulted in the most benefits for my daughter’s improving health. He is also very responsive — I called his office today and asked a pretty minor question. His nurse called me back with his specific guidance on what to do(from his mouth) within 2 hrs. I am very, very grateful that we found him.

Dr Hessan has the absolute best bedside manner and was amazing helping me solve my sleeping problems. I went in to his office with a week’s worth of sleepless nights due to terrible sinus pains and headaches. He took plenty of time with me and answered all my questions and most importantly was able to properly diagnose me and get me feeling much better within 24 hours. His office staff was also incredible and friendly and it was easy to schedule a follow up appointment.

I only gave him 1 star because he was very child-friendly and gave them balloons. However, my experience with him as a parent causes me to want to give him zero stars. He was the second ENT we saw and scheduled with him based on the fact that he seemed to have some positive reviews out there. I can’t figure out why. When trying to explain why we were there and what was wrong with my 2.5 year old son, he constantly cut me off when I was speaking. Even though 2 other doctors told me that my son has allergies, he rudely kept asking how did I know he had allergies and made me feel like I diagnosed him and prescribed allergy medicine for him myself! When I said my son had painful ear popping, he basically said«well, I guess we can go by that if you want to believe a 2.5 year old». What? My son is a very smart and articulates quite well. I also mentioned that my son snores like a 40 year old overweight man. Dr. Hessan told me that was normal for his age and not a problem. Then he had us do very expensive hearing test with the in-office audiologist. When we were done, he basically said that he didn’t know what to do. He never went over the test results. He finally said that maybe we should put tubes in my son’s perfectly healthy ears and while we were there then we should remove the adenoids for his snoring problem(yes, the snoring problem that he said wasn’t a problem earlier in the appointment). When I was leaving he suggested seeing an allergiest in the office to see if an allergy was causing the ear popping(after lecturing me about how did I know my son had allergies). He never told me to schedule a followup with him with the reults from the allergist or call him if we wanted to talk about surgery or anything. He just kind-of left us hanging. Later, I talked with the mom of one of my son’s classmates who used Dr. Hessan. She had the same opinion of him being rude and demeaning. A week later we went to another ENT, Dr. Lee at ENTAA Care, and had a fabulous experience.
