What’s great: I think they have new buyers because this is definitely NOT the JC Penney where I worked at when I was in college! Back then(ok this will sort of give away my age!, but I’m referring to the late 90’s!) the clientele was mostly middle aged women buying cocktail dresses. Everything was conservative and sorry to say, boring. I had an employee discount that I NEVER used because I could never find anything that I liked! Well I’m happy to say that they have a whole new selection of merchandise that is not so discriminatory and is great for all ages and all body types. I particularly like their dresses, lots of cute maxis and casual dresses to choose from. I also have been VERY impressed with their bathing suits. I have always wanted to wear one piece suits but typically the one piece styles have been ugly and completely un-figure flattering. JC Penny carries two brands that make great one piece styles: A.n.a and St. John’s Bay. They have ruching around the waistline which creates a fantastic slimming effect and the color choices are terrific. I bought a lavender color in A.n.a that I absolutely LOVE! Prices are also super reasonable. I think for the quality of what they’re selling, the average $ 35-$ 50 range is fair. What’s not so great: For this specific location, customer service has been a hit or miss. I do shop at JC Penney quite regularly and sometimes the associate at the register is friendly, professional, and efficient, other times I get the feeling the person working there is just counting the hours, and works slow, doesn’t smile, and is not friendly. Because what they’re selling is what I want, I keep going back, but if it was just based solely on their staff, I’m not sure this would be my favorite store. Another bonus: I was happy to see that JC Penney took a stand to support the LGBT community in their mother’s day and father’s day ads. Makes me like them more and makes me want to keep buying from them.
