LOVELOVELOVE this place! Everything is EXCELLENT not to mention GOOD for you. I had the purple cabbage, mac and cheese and mock ribs over brown rice. Nicely seasoned, I am going back today. I am going to try one of the sandwiches next time. If it is anything like the meals I am in for a treat. LOVE this place!!!

Great vegan place. Their vegetable burger was excellent, nice size and the caramelized onions compliments it well. My wife had their orange«chicken» over rice, which she found excellent. I had collard greens as a side and they were excellent. Their specialty lemonades were a little sweet for us but tasted good.

I had the dinner which includes a protein mock orange chicken, rice, Mac and cheese and purple cabbage. I also got the monster Philly cheese steak. The service was exceptional. The food was fantastic. The rice was well seasoned and very flavorful, the curried potatoes creamy the Mac and cheese Tasted home made. The monster Philly cheese steak was huge with grilled peppers, great mock meat, fantastic bread and a great faux cheese. Great place to have dinner. I will most defiantly go back next time I am In Columbia

I really enjoy this restaurant. Unfortunately I don’t get here very often. I just stopped by as I was in the area and enjoyed a wonderful lunch. I had the Kung Pao protein over rice with sides of purple cabbage, lentils and the infamous«Mac n cheese». All were wonderful and the Mac n cheese maintained itself as one of the best dishes I have ever eaten… This is not a fancy restaurant, but the venue is quite comfortable and very relaxing. I will return!

Really good food and mellow rastaman vibrations make for a chill atmosphere in a mid 80s diner setting. African art pieces mixed with an eclectic collection of Egyptian, Asian and rasta warrior pieces make the wait for food easy. Daily specials keep the menu fresh. It’s vegan, but anyone can enjoy the flavorful eats at this joint. Just remember to leave your plates when you’re done, they will hook it up…

This is the best vegan soul food east of Oakland, California’s Souley Vegan. There’s a really nice vibe here that can’t be described. You just have to go.

Thank you Unilocal, for an amazing find. I can’t say, based on the looks and location of this place, that I would have ever ventured across it but wow, do they deliver in offering up a small array of delicious vegeterian dishes that will leave you both full and feeling good about yourself. The space is somewhat dinghy but don’t let that scare you away. It’s spruced up somewhat with some African décor and music. You order at the counter in the back right and they’ll bring your food out to you. Service is informative, friendly and prompt. I hope they can drum up enough traffic to stay in business, as they really don’t have any high margin offerings.

Those mock ribs are completely insane! The mac and cheese was just as good as the vegan soul food I enjoy in Atlanta. Also tried the kung pao which was decent, but I definitely preferred the rib. The cheesesteak is good too, make sure you’re hungry for that one. Great little place, the staff was super nice! And funny! Remember they are people too and you can make jokes with them! I love vegan soul food so much.

Starting to expand my palate on vegan and vegetarian items that normally wouldn’t try. After coming here trying the sides and smoothies I broke ground on their main dishes today. I knew they would be good as I have had a lot of positive feedback by neighboring business and friends that eat here regularly. The Kung Pao dish tasted great over a bed of perfectly cooked brown rice paired with lentils and curry potatoes. The dish left me full and satisfied wanting to try more items in the future. Once I was finished with my meal I took a mango-blueberry smoothie to go feeling that I had a healthy hearty meal.

Wow! I love this place! Luv, luv, luv! I don’t give a lot of 5 stars, but this place well deserves it! I had the mandarin«chicken» with brown rice, black beans and candied yams. ALL of them were so delicious, and the service is very good. I am definitely going back, and I can’t wait!

Delicious food! Such a pleasant atmosphere for a vegan restaurant(I’ve been to many pompous vegan places). The«chicken» Kung Pao was amazing & the Mac ‘n «cheese» was out of this world! Such friendly and helpful staff too. This will be one of my regular restaurants in Columbia from now on!

Visited this place for the first time today. The décor is right up my alley with lots of African, Egyptian, and Indian flair. I said to them that«you know you are doing something right when you can serve food on a paper plate and get a 5 star rating online.» I had the Kung pao«chicken» great texture and delicious taste. The sides were all equally delicious, curry potatoes, red cabbage, macaroni and«cheese» were all delicious. I loved every bite. Can’t wait to go back!

If you are looking for home cooked souther food that’s not only good for you but vegan, get over to this place. It’s a family business and the food and drinks are out of this world. Don’t worry about what the place looks like on the outside, it’s what is in the inside that matters. Menu changes daily with fresh foods

First visit here and I will be back. Funky décor and friendly staff. Mandarin Orange«Chicken» is great. The sauce is good without being overly sweet. Collards were nicely seasoned, a little on the sweet side, but I like that. The sesame ginger okra had a kick to it. I’m glad I tried the mac & cheese. It was great and I didn’t miss the real cheese!

So good! Lots of options, friendly staff to answer questions, free samples if you’re not sure and great portion size for the price. Always happy and a must in Columbia. Bummers — leaves lots to be desired for eat-in with paper plates and plastic cutlery, but great for take out. Closes early at 5pm.

This place has the best food. You can tell that they take pride in their food. The fact that it’s vegan is even better. Try the smoothies and the limeade drinks they are to die for.

OK so I’ll say right up front that I’m not a fan of the vegan version of meat dishes. Despite the great effort it just can’t compare to the deliciousness of real meat! That out of the way, I’ll say that this is an excellent local spot for good veggies, friendly service, good atmosphere, and AMAZING cupcakes!

LOVEDIT! I don’t typically seek out«home-cookin» type restaurants, but everyone(even non vegetarians/vegans) has been ranting and raving about how delicious the food at Lamb’s Bread is and how nice the staff are. Last Saturday a friend of mine posted a pic of their Philly«cheesesteak» on Facebook, and I was starvingggggg so I said — I’m going NOW!!! Made the short trek just outside of downtown, there was 1 spot left in front of the building(I saw others parking at the building next door). I went in knowing I wanted the cheesesteak and Mac & cheese… They were playing Bob Marley(which instantly reminded me of my fav hippie ski town — Girdwood!) and had various art displayed. The dry erase board behind the register lists the day’s protein as well as desserts, sides, sandwiches and drinks(non alcoholic). The guy who took my order advised me that the Philly takes longer than anything else on the menu and there would be a wait… I agreed that there wasn’t an issue with that(good things come to those who wait). I’m so glad I waited — everything was so delicious — minus the cupcake(IMO it was flavorless and the icing had a strange under-taste(see pics). I can’t wait to go back! Lamb’s Bread makes it easy to go Vegan!!!

Oh my! I had no idea, I figured there is no way in hell the Columbia SC would have a vegan restaurant and if they did, I figured it wouldn’t be very good. I WASSOWRONG. I had the sweet and spicy ribs over rice, candied yams, purple cabbage, Mac and cheese and sorell to drink. It is all amazing! Seriously, you should go, vegan or not.
