Vegetarian cuisine can be great but everything I’ve had here has been very bland. My friends mostly go because it’s healthy and they’re veggie.

Best vegetarian food in Columbia. Order a dish with the rice and beans and get a vegetable juice. Wonderful meal.

Healthy food that is fresh and delicious, plus a unique vibe and friendly staff, earn Main Squeeze five stars in my book. Something to note, you will note find any meat on the menu here. While I’m not a vegetarian myself, I really enjoy plant-based proteins(tofu is my favorite), so this was right up my alley. It was a cold evening when I visited, so I was craving something warm, healthy and filling. I ordered the Buddha bowl with quinoa, and it delivered. It had a great mix of fresh veggies, quinoa, tofu and sauce. While it doesn’t look like the biggest meal, it filled up me no problem. And the sesame ginger sauce was so good I could have shotgunned it by itself. My friend ordered the Hail Kale salad, which I sampled. It was not as excellent as my bowl, but still very tasty with some quinoa and tempeh bacon to fill you up more than the average salad. I enjoyed the quirky touches in the décor, like crocheted seat covers, hanging plants, local art covering the walls, and mosaic tiles decorating the tables. The staff were very friendly and contributed to the laid-back feel of the place. We went on a Tuesday night, so it wasn’t crowded and we could take our time. Definitely will be going back many times in the future.

I soooo miss this place since I moved to Iowa. This place is a gem. All the juices are great, and I think I had all the wraps and salads at some point and they were all great, I especially loved the Green Goddess dressing.

If all restaurants served vegetarian food options as good as this, more people in this country would eat less meat. I’m not a vegetarian and neither is my fiancé, but we make it a point to come here every now and again to indulge in some very tasty vegetarian fare. The Big Sky wrap is one of our go-to meals, and the ingredients are amazingly fresh with a perfect balance of sauce, crisp veggies, and tofu. We also recommend The Works, which is a Mexican inspired dish that’s super filling and equally yummy.

I really like the kale, coconut milk, banana, pineapple smoothie. Their bowls are pretty good too. All in all it’s a nice, clean, affordable fast casual restaurant with yummy, healthy food.

In terms of fresh, healthy food, this place may as well be rated 500 stars compared to the usual fare one encounters when searching for a meal that won’t ravage their intestines with junk. That said, if I had one wish, it would be to shift the focus away from vegan/vegetarian options and add some meat to the menu. Sometimes a man wants to indulge his carnivorous instincts, and Main Squeeze is sadly unaccommodating in that regard, even though it hits the nail on the head by every other measure.

Points for atmosphere: cheerful colors, crocheted seat covers, fun knickknacks in lieu of table number indicators for bringing out the orders. Even bigger points for speed and for bottomless free coffee with breakfast. Not the best breakfast burrito I’ve had, but more than sufficient, and the experience puts this establishment up there. Sampled a bake good, which was delicious.

Oh my gosh I want to live in this restaurant. Loved everything: food was perfect, servers genuine, owner walking around taking care of everyone. Highlight of our cross country trip.

This is really as trendy and hipster as Columbia gets — all for a good cause and for a niche that gets little attention in the city. To me, the restaurant seems a little pricy. But the food is worth it, if you’re into vegetarian stuff, of course. My girlfriend is a part-time vegetarian, so she’s drug me down that road and I’ve had to endure my fair share of kale and ginger drinks, bean burgers, and veggie wraps. This place has friendly employees and tasty bites. You can’t really go wrong when trying any of their wraps and their drinks are all decent. Bottom line? I wouldn’t recommend for the average carnivore unless you’re looking for something different, but for the right person this might be a hidden gem. — CD

A bit pricey, but I expect that comes with the territory of locally sourced ingredients. I just finished the Austin in August juice(apple, ginger and maybe carrot?) and the sunrise quesadilla. Doesn’t look like a lot of food, but it is delicious, nutritious, and filling. I’m about to grab a smoothie to go right now. Bright and happy atmosphere + delightful food = great experience.

Main Squeeze is by a wide margin one of the best places to eat in Columbia. The food and atmosphere are wonderful and the staff are friendly. I’ve never had a bad meal there. Main Squeeze is vegetarian and vegan oriented but is so good even your carnivorous friends and family members will love it. I would suggest that you bring your own doggie bag because the portions are pretty big.

One of my favorite places to eat in Columbia. As a six year resident of Columbia and a vegetarian, Main Squeeze has been on my long time go to list of places for a relaxed meal. Order at the counter and head out with a quick bite or take your time and enjoy the calm environment indoors or out to catch up with a friend or a good book. The all vegetarian, locally sourced, environmentally conscious restaurant satisfies all foodies. I’ve brought along many meat eating friends who were impressed by how delicious and hearty mindful eating can be. Can’t imagine Columbia without Main Squeeze!

Oh hi there, would you like to be my Main Squeeze? They make healthy food that actually tastes good(like really good) which is why I come here all the time for their fabulous fortune wrap. It is my favorite thing on their menu! It’s got rice, tofu, red cabbage, carrot, spinach, scallions, sesame seeds, and this tasty sesame ginger sauce. I highly recommend it! The juices are also pretty great. I like the Regenerate Your Life and the Austin in August. The staff is always super friendly. The girls at the front almost always talk me into trying one of their homemade desserts– which are so tasty too! I recommend you try the coconut haystack. Yum!

Wonderful menu filled with inspired and wholesome foods, kind staff and tons of personality. You’re doing yourself a disservice if you have never been to Main Squeeze. Even if you don’t abide by any dietary restrictions this food is just plain good stuff.

Wow, just wow. A delight for vegetarians. And to top it organic as well. But the cherry on top is the deliciously fresh tasting menu. The location is perfect in the busy downtown. Went for their sunday brunch and the place was crowded. Seating inside and outside available. The menu is on a black board with the daily specials listed. They have quite an extensive menu and a variety of organic juices and smoothies. You order at a counter and are given an animated figure/cartoon character doll to identify your table and order. And then comes the best part The Food. Buddhas bowl is delicious and refreshingly amazing. The veggies are cooked to perfection, the scallions and tahini sauce blends so well with the tofu and quinoa. Its very filling. Regenerate your life drink is a house favorite and not to be missed. Overall a place not to be missed and definitely worth revisiting.

I eat here all the time for lunch. I like to eat healthy, but only if it tasts good and I am always very surpised at how well this place does healthy and fresh cooking. So many options and I’ve never had anything that I wasn’t very pleased with. The daily specials are always tasty and you also can’t go wrong with their standard menu options or their desserts.

I would make this place my Main Squeeze! I love this place! I have eaten here I think 5 times, in fact almost every time I have ever been in Columbia, I try to stop in at least for a dessert! The food here is all Veggie/VEGAN which is a dream come true to a Vegan. They have a wonderful arrangement of options from Salads, sandwiches, bowls, Juices, and hot items! I usually get one of the bowls. Why cause it’s a lot of food, and a lot of flavor! The staff has always been great, and they have litterature all over about why they choose the food they choose to serve! Very ethically awesome and you don’t have to substitute taste for ethics! This is a must stop for any veggie type person, or a non veggie person who wants to just get their toes wet into the world of great Vegan food! Keep up the good work!

Wow! A vegan restaurant in Columbia, MO. And wow, I had such a good experience that even though I have NO desire or reason to go back to Columbia, that I intend to actually plan a trip to stop there JUST so we can eat at Main Squeeze again. The place is adorable — casual — but with a very bountiful chalkboard menu display. I am not used to having choices. And I had choices. It was wonderful. Every person I dealt with was a pleasure to talk to, extremely helpful, and in a great mood(which was at least 4 employees) because I had questions, follow up questions, and then more questions. The energy here was great. I dined with a vegan, and two people who eat everything & lean towards meat. We were all happy with our choices. The fact that I could get gluten free bread, non dairy cheese, AND yet I could also still get an egg(as they are a vegetarian — not vegan establishment) was such a welcome balance for me. Normally if I am lucky enough to get any ONE thing(like gluten free bread, or non dairy cheese), there is no way I would have anything else I wanted or needed to eat. There were so many options for me personally there, and I look forward to going back & trying more of the menu.
