If you want really good sturdy furniture that will last you have to check out Oak Tree Furniture. We shopped all the big stores in the Columbia area and only happened to drive by Oak Tree because I got us lost on the way to Haverty’s, but boy are we glad we found this place. It’s really big inside, don’t let the front fool you. And this is furniture the way it used to be: solid, sturdy, well-​built, AND good looking. We bought our dining room table here, switching out a set of chairs we liked more with no problem at all, and a king bedroom (we’d actually purchased a bedroom set from Bob’s Discount Furniture and when it got delivered we were kind of shocked by how flimsy it all felt so we returned it). The sales staff were all very knowledgeable and we never felt like we were being rushed or pressured. The prices are higher than the discount chains, but when you examine the quality of the furniture the extra money makes sense and is well spent. «You get what you pay for.» Overall a great experience and furniture we’ll probably be able to pass on to our kids.

We have been shopping here for years and the staff is fantastic and the selection is great. I highly recommend them for all types of furniture!

If you want quality solid furniture, come here. They can customize everything and make the furniture of your dreams. They have a few Amish lines that would impress you. Be forewarned, it does come at a price. Sadly, the price is much more than what I can afford. Maybe one day… if I win the powerball…

My wife likes the furniture. It appears to be well-​made and sturdy. I’m a very large man and I’ve found it comfortable. It is more expensive than other (possibly poorer quality) furniture at other stores.

I bought a Groupon for Oak Tree Furniture a few months ago and wanted to redeem it for a small table and chair set. I found one that I loved and it was on sale for $ 499. Being that my Groupon was for $ 200, I was happy to have found such a deal on something I really liked. Well, I guess the Groupon was for non-​sale/​clearance merchandise; I asked for special consideration, however, they said unequivocally no. There was literally nothing else in the store remotely close to my price range ($ 1000+), so in order to use my Groupon, I bought 2 pieces of pottery and 4 candles, totaling $ 200. It’s a shame I could not have purchased that table set. I wished they had relaxed their policy, seeing as though I was the only customer in the store for the entire hour I was shopping.

Great staff who listen and work with you, beautiful furniture made to a high standard of quality, prompt and helpful delivery. Much of the furniture is locally produced. I’ll be back!

I think the owners of this company wrote all the review?. Not sure if everyone here’s a millionaires, but this place is EXPENSIVE. And I make $ 150k+, and even I wouldn’t buy stuff here. I’m in mid 30s so like more modern stuff. Alot of stuff is more traditional/​country shaker style. Not too much pieces I liked. But the prices are freaking expensive. I assume it is because it’s all top quality stained wood.
I decided to not shop here due to price. Quality was good, but you can get quality without this prices. Don’t listen to others in this review, you can get high quality stuff 50% below this place. Tables were avg. $ 5k+, where as I can get «decent» cheapos at $ 500, and quality modern stuff around $ 2k-​$ 3k.

A huge store with a wide range of options, including a good selection of Amish and other American-​made furniture. If the name wasn’t clue enough, you’re dealing with real wood furniture, not Ikea pasteboard. Since it’s Columbia, the prices tend to be a bit on higher side than similar stores out in western Martland, but you’re getting quality.
Our big purchase was a jelly cabinet (like a shallow pie safe) for the kitchen. Since this was something being made by Oak Tree itself, we were able to customize it, choosing our own wood, finish, hardware, doors, and trim. It was delivered after eight weeks, and it is beautiful! Construction is great. The delivery guys were very friendly too.
My only gripe was that delivery cost $ 100, which struck me as a bit high. We did have the option to pick it up at the store, but I didn’t want to risk damaging it. I guess $ 100 for piece of mind isn’t terrible.
We came with a Groupon, which was not only happily accepted, but they even helped us determine the best way to use it in conjunction with their various current sales. We took advantage of their sale on the cabinet, and used the Groupon for an end table. We saved an additional forty bucks processing it as two separate orders — not bad!
All the sales associates were knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I’m 99% sure I recall them saying they do not work on commission.

This is a fantastic neighborhood furniture stoor with high quality merchandise and great service. It was refreshing to walk in and not be hounded by salespeople– we had the freedom to walk around the store to our hearts content– you knew they would help you if you needed it, but you were welcome to walk through the store and walk out without an ounce of pressure. We were interested in purchasing a high end home office set. I went into the store at least four times to make sure I was getting the right item, they gladly photocopied the catalog pages which I used to comparison shop online. In the end, I chose to buy all the furniture at Oak Tree because they won me over from a customer service standpoint. I wasn’t disappointed. the furniture was beautiful, delivery flawless. kudos!!!

We love this neighborhood store. don’t assume it’s expensive
My wife and I recently bought a new home and thought we would swing by just to take a look at bed sets. We assumed it would be expensive because it wasn’t a chain. Think again.
They have a good assortment of tables, bedroom sets, and other wood based furniture. They seem to always have a huge sale that helps bring the price down, even lower than a lot of chain places.
We also were told by a great sales person (can’t recall her name) that we should check out their website to print out a $ 100 off coupon. This pretty much paid for the shipping.
They have a good assortment of Amish made stuff that, while pricier, is great quality and handmade.

This is an update on Matt W.‘s review:
We contacted the futon manufacturer, sent some more photos, and then heard back from Oak Tree. The owner stopped by to inspect the futon, and agreed with us that it was not our fault. There are two, plastic slide clips that were installed in the wrong place, causing undue stress on the rail that led to the fracture. At any rate, the owner was very apologetic and took the time to personally make things right. We got our sofa repaired, a formal letter of apology and a gift certificate for our troubles. It’s too bad we had to go through all of this to come to a place of agreement, but in the end, he dealt with us in a fair, honest and responsible manner.
