I had clear paint protective film(car«bra») applied by Parabolica Autosport Engineering/Auto Armour Films & Finishes, Columbia, MD, on the front bumper of a black 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 in June 2014. I selected this business because of all of the positive reviews I had read about it and its owner, Clifford L. BeauBeau, on foreign sports car(Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini) automotive web site forums. Not only did Cliff do a superb job at what I thought was a more than reasonable price, but he is probably the most personable business person I have ever dealt with. After talking to him just for few minutes, I felt like I had known him a long time. Being personable and friendly does not always translate to a business person who is honest, does quality work for a reasonable price, and takes pride in his/her work. However, Cliff does. It is obvious that he is very passionate about his work and takes a great deal of pride in doing a good job. He told me that, «I would not be disappointed,»(in the job he would do) and I was not. When I first went to his shop, he showed me the different films available for the job and recommended a particular one. He not only justified the recommendation verbally, but he demonstrated the«self healing» properties of the film he recommended. The afternoon of the day before he was to do the job, I drove the car to his shop during rush hour so he could keep it in the shop overnight, and traffic was a nightmare. I had planned on going back early afternoon the following day, pay him for the job, park the car outside, and retrieve it that night when traffic would not be so bad. He offered to meet me back at his shop after normal business hours when the traffic would not be so bad to pick up the car. He offered to do this so I wouldn’t have to make two trips and the car would not be sitting outside in the parking lot after he closed. I don’t know of too many business owners who would offer to do that so it would be more convenient for their customers. I originally was thinking of having the film applied to the backs of the rear view mirrors and either about a third of the way up the hood or the entire hood(even though I had not had any problems with paint chips on the hood). Cliff told me that he had the paint come off of the back of a couple of mirrors of Challengers and Chargers while applying the film, so I opted not to have it installed on my mirrors. He also talked me out of having the hood done. He explained how the design of the car was helping prevent chips and how it would be unlikely that I would get any in the future(unless I was behind a dump truck when it lost a load of gravel). I was willing to pay the extra money to have the hood done but he convinced me it was probably not worth it. He could have easily not said anything when I said I wanted the hood done and made extra money, but he did not. While discussing whether I was going to have the entire hood covered or only part of it, I mentioned that I was thinking about having a hood decal package installed sometime in the future. At the time, I had no idea who I was going to have install it, until he said that is something else he does. After seeing the job he did on installing the protective film on the front bumper, I will definitely have him install the hood decal package.
