This is a cute little gay bar outside the capitol building in Columbia. I was very confused by how to enter the bar because the front entrance on the main road is closed off and blacked out. Patrons must go behind the Japanese restaurant Takosushi, which is located directly next door. Behind the restaurant is a wooden stair case that leads to the unmarked entrance into Pt’s 1109. There are no signs or anything LGBT, just a doorway, but that is Pt’s. once you get inside the LGBT vibe comes alive. The bar has a pool table and small space for dancing and a single bar. I went on a Monday, so the place was rather dead, but I hear Fridays and Saturdays are rather busy. If your not a member there is a $ 5 cover on the weekends. They don’t advertise it, but on Mondays the bar shows the new episodes of Rupaul’s Drag Race at 9 p.m. On Sundays the bar hosts karaōke and Tuesdays there is a lip sync drag show contest. The bar is also within walking distance of the cities other LGBT bar The Capitol Club.

Drag here is HORRIBLE at best and too much of it. Most of the staff, esp one of the owners, is rude. Drinks overpriced. Service slow. When they have go go dancers, no one really wants to tip because if they are ‘straight’ they have their girlfriends in there or are surrounded by fag hags who try to ‘seed’ the tipping. Talent is very lacking. Waste of time and money.

PT’s has been an occasional fun place to dance with friends over the years. The drag shows are entertaining, and there is enjoyable karaōke from time to time. However, on my latest visit, a man who said he was the owner was unbelievably rude, and this experience will likely keep me away. It was a pity for me that, when I chose to visit one of the only gay establishments in Columbia with my free time, I failed to experience even the most basic hospitality or courtesy.

I’m new to the area; so far I really like Columbia and I found this place incredibly fun. Great place to just hang out and talk with people and meet new friends. I will be revisiting…

I said to my Galaxy, «Ok Google, where’s the closest gay bar?» and it took me to PT1109. Take that Siri and Cortana! I went in on a weekday, so it was super slow. But I wasn’t there for a crowd, I just wanted some cheap drinks($ 3 happy hour house liquor). I ended up chatting up the bartender and a few patrons, and I had a nice time. The bartender was awesome. They told me to come back for Karaōke or a drag show to get a feel for what the place is like when it’s popping. I’m looking forward to going back, and I’ll update my review after.

Many don’t like 1109, but I find it fun if you are in the right company. It is cliquish in some ways, but if you talk to people you make friends REALLY quickly. The drag queens here are a blast, very sweet, and very personable if you don’t catch them while they are busy. If you talk to them a little, they remember your name and are actually happy to see you. The bartenders are very quick and helpful even if the liquor price is a little expensive. The hostesses for the drag shows are really fun. I especially reccomend The Tuesday Midnight show, with Patti O’Furniture. She is a blast and will make sure you have fun too. She’ll make you giggle quite a few times. The ambiance in there, I have to say, for what they have(a tiny space) they do a LOT with it, and I have to give them credit for that. A place that could so easily go downhill because of its location and size is well maintained by an exciting and happy staff, a «family» atmosphere when you get to know people, and tasteful décor. I feel like this place gets a bad rap a lot of times, but this is one of those places that is only as fun as you make it. If you make it fun, it’s very fun, but if you go there with expectations that it will suck, good luck having fun, but that’s just about anywhere. I love it.(:

This bar has gotten a lot better in the last year. Most importantly, fast drinks even when it’s busy, They have drag shows most nights. There is a cover on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, but it’s only $ 5. That’s cheaper than any gay bar I’ve been to when there was a show. They have dancers on Fridays, which used to be awful, but have gotten much better. The only night there isn’t something happening is Monday, but nobody really goes out on Mondays. I’ve been going there for about 4 years now, and I’m not sure what the other reviewer is talking about, there aren’t any tables near the bathroom and there aren’t any circular tables in the bar at all. There haven’t been as long as I’ve been there.

Not to be a downer on Columbia’s gay parade, but what is up with this bar? The drag is tragic and is way too serious so there’s not even that funny doing it on purpose element. I’ve been forced to come here lately because Art Bar can’t be gay every night of the week. The go-go boys are a special experience. I’m not even sure I can expand on that. You have to see it to believe. There’s almost always a cover and never a reason. Nobody is dancing even though the music borders on good. It gets crowded so it takes ages to get a drink. People are cruising all around so that might be a plus if you get drunk enough to deal with who is doing the cruising. Drink pricing is normal, 4.50 a shot. The set-up borders on insane. Bathrooms are right at the entrance, random tables right in front of them then a long bar opposite a bunch of circle tables. Creates a major funnel blockage late at night. I can’t even. Save your time and money and just blow your load at Art Bar every Friday night. It has better lighting, a better dance floor, better drinks and better people. There’s a reason Art Bar, which is only gay one night of the week, won best gay bar in Columbia against this place.
