Rock Bottom Comics

Rock Bottom is a Columbia MO legend. I grew up in Columbia and this was the first real comic book store I ever encountered. Back then, Rock Bottom was in its original location (an old gas station I think?). What a treasure trove! I purchased my first white box D&D set there, and about a zillion old vintage comics that I still have.
Over the years, Rock Bottom has weathered the markets and is still standing. Glen was always a pleasure to deal with and knew a lot about what he sold. I have since shopped many a comic store all over the world, from NYC to Europe to Hong Kong. But it was Rock Bottom that started my love for all things comics!
Whether you want to get your geek on or just love good graphic novels, I can’t think of a better comic store to go to in Columbia than Rock Bottom. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

While planing a day to shop around downtown Columbia I was pleased to find they had a comic book store. I wrote down the address. While eating lunch i reminded my husband I found a comic book store in town. A quick walk from the restaurant to this shop, We walked in a small store with what seemed like 4 guys just hanging out. I have pretty much zero clue about comics so i just stood back and let my husband look around. Based on the feedback from him they didn’t have very much to choose from. Even I seemed to notice what they had was kinda outdated. I agree it seems they don’t want your business. After looking around he asked if they had anything more recent for x-​men comics. The store associate just pointed out everything we had just looked at. Really? He had already looked at them, why would they need to be pointed out again? I know we were «out of towners» and not regular customers but you never know what they are looking for. It seems they may know a lot about comics but not too much about customer service. This place was a disappointment to the both of us, I wanted my husband to find something and he wanted to try to find something too or at the very least talk comics to someone who knows them. Everyone in the shop missed the opportunity to try to make a customer.

Great Place with a long history of service. Knowledgeable Staff. No minimum on pulls and they are aware of what you like and will do spec pulls for you. They have weathered a number of tempests over the years and remain my favorite place to buy comics.

Exactly what you would want from a comic shop! Friendly, knowledgeable, hilarious, amazing, spectacular, and uncanny staff! Metric arse tons of vintage comics as well as new ones, action figures, magic cards, TPBs, shirts, posters, and even SWORDS! I have never had any issues with my weekly pulls, nor have I had a problem finding something else to buy on the weeks when it is lite. You owe it to yourself to spend some time here, whether it just be a quick trip to grab your pull, or the hours on end that I find myself getting sucked in to due to the outstanding conversation :)
