I don’t get the hype. It’s good middle of the road pizza with generous toppings. Went there with a group, two of our pizzas were borderline burnt on the bottom but undercooked goop right under the toppings. Atmosphere is neat, but pretty noisy.

Ate here and wasn’t impressed. 90 min wait for goopy undercooked and poorly topped pizza without a spatula? We ordered garlic bread as an appetizer, after an hour of watching lots of other people get their apps we checked and they laughingly announced over the intercom to the entire restaurant«Bob, come get your garlic bread SINCEWEFORGOT, HAHAHA!» Don’t believe the hype, this place sux.

I would like to give this 5 stars, but can’t because it is like an unsupervised children’s romper room. Note to parents: If you allow your child to jump off chairs in a restaurant, then maybe you can take yourself to the zoo and live with the animals. I would say this is just an anomaly, but this seems to happen EVERY time I am in one of Shakespeare’s restaurants. Tonight was worse than a children’s circus and parents so self absorbed that they certainly do not care that 5 of their brats are jumping and climbing on top of the pinball machine like it is a jungle gym. Of course, if one of these brats so much as even suffered a scratch, mommy & daddy would haul Shakespeares into court and we would all be out of the world’s best pizza due to uncivilized brats being neglected by a bunch of «parents» who demonstrate about as much concern as a group of dumb asses. Good luck. I advise you to sit in the bar as far away from these mutations as possible, at least there, you will not have to witness the children’s circus.

I have never liked this pizza joint. Anytime I’ve ever tried it the crust is nasty dry, little taste to the sauce and overall gross.

Nasty burned pizza. Toppings were mediocre and there was no music or TV. They do carry many drink options though.

Wow! I feel deceived. I’m here from out-of-state and I expected so much more given the hype. It just wasn’t good. Over-cooked crust and bland sauce. Tried both the meat lover’s and the Masterpiece, but same results. Was with a group of 4 and we all agree, try something else.

Came here RIGHT after work to make sure I got some of this pizza while I was in town. There was no line at the time, but it still took about 20 minutes to make the pizza. If it’s all made fresh, that isn’t too bad, especially since you can sit around and enjoy a nice beer. It’s very good – NOTHING I would wait over an hour for – if you hit it at the right time it is worth it. I was a little shocked to hear that you can often expect to wait for quite a while. That would be my only deterrant for going closer to dinner.

I’m not sure why I like this place so well since the pizza is good but not amazing or anything. But it is a good place to take small kids. It is loud(something that bothered me pre-kids but is an advantage now) and they let the kids get balls of pizza dough to play with. The south side location is nice and large with plenty of parking so I prefer it to the other locations.

The service was alright. We had a huge party there tonight. The people in charge sometimes acted really confused, which can be daunting. It took 4 conversations to get a pizza tab open. The pizza was alright. Our party was fun.

Shakespeare’s has good pizza. I recommend the pepper jack pizza. An underrated thing is their beer prices. It’s around nine dollars for a pitcher of craft beer. They have 4 hands, schlafley, and Matts. Definitely recommend as a good place for food and beer during sporting events at reasonable prices.

Awesome building. The atmosphere is very appealing. The pizza was pretty good. The spinach salad(Louie’s, I think) was delicious. Recommended for a family, friendly meal.

I’ve heard people rave about this place. The pizza is honestly maybe a step above mediocre. To have a great pizza either the crust, sauce, or both have to be something special. Neither of these things really stood out for me, but they were perfectly fine. We tried the Darwin and the Masterpiece and I loved the combo of toppings on both. Very topping-heavy.

People in Missouri have extremely low standards when it comes to Pizza after all in Missouri everyone thinks imo’s pizza is the bomb when it is disgusting. Shakespeare’s has potential but always fails to hit the mark. They either burn or under cook every pizza as if cooking a pizza was organic chemistry. The pizza is greasier than a Burrito from Taco Bell and the people who cook the people look like they all have the Portland Grunge look where they have the high white socks or where is Waldo glasses. Shakespeare’s pizza is more for the Atmosphere of the Columbia grunge atmosphere than an actual authenticate Pizzeria. My friend from Brooklyn came down to visit me and when he ate S-P he threw up in the parking lot. He swears its the worst pizza he has ever eaten. Greasy pizza that is undercooked or overcooked that crust is really nasty then Shakespeares pizza is for you.

I’m a hometown girl, and the original Shakespeare’s Pizza in downtown Columbia is a hometown favorite! Usually the pizza ovens take a while to get broken in and the wait staff takes even longer. However, I have to give mad props to the newest«Deep South» location. They haven’t even had there grand opening yet and they are already impressing. The dining area is very spacey and comfortable. The bar has great deals(like the $ 4 wells served in the classic plastic Shakespeare’s cup… or, even better, the $ 5 long island!!) And most of all, the pizza is yummy and they deliver to the South side of town. Finally.

Checked out this location with my 16 y/o nephew on Friday night. The place was crowed as expected and we found out the deep south location was open by a Shakespeare’s facebook posting. We ordered the 16″ meat lovers and as expected it was great same as the 9th st location expect I believe this one had more meat. We also ordered the garlic cheese bread with sauce. Only thing that surprised me was that the sauce was cold so dipping warm bread into cold sauce something I didn’t expect. It was still good. The newly remodeled building is open and it doesn’t seem like the table next to you is sitting on top of your group. The place had a great crowd from very young to older adults and the groups were present baseball teams both teens and adults along with the college crowd which makes Columbia so diverse. You order the same at this location as in all locations at the front door and then you find a table. We were told it was going to be 50 minutes which was expected with the crowd and we didn’t mind we had not additional plans. On the tables was information about additions and upgrades still being put into place at the deep south location and one of the additions being looked at was a pick-up drive through window which would be a great idea. How convenient if you want to pick up a pizza on the way home just call ahead and drive through and your on your way home. This would be a great addition to Shakespeare’s. Check this location out and you won’t be disappointed.
