I actually like this place. I come here when convenient. It’s not a place I’d drive just to eat here but it’s good.

This is the first breakfast place I take all of my out of town friends when they visit. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is nice the only downside is the place is packed on the weekends because it is so popular.

This place was good. The plain pancakes not so much but everything else was amazing. My waiter Clara was awesome. She brought out a Dutch pancake and omg with lemon and confetti sugar was awesome. I would def recommend the oven omelettes they are amazing and HUGE.

Pancakes are good but service is rushed. Also service staff is on the old side.

I came here for my sisters bootcamp graduation. It was a rainy day and it was busy! We walked in and were seated immediately, although it seemed busy we were tended to like we were the only ones in the restaurant. I don’t remember our waiters name but he was nice got everything correct and all in all everything was really good. East coast pancakes taste different than west coast pancakes I can tell you that. If I could fly out there I would, every time I would get a craving.

We got breakfast takeout. The place was packed with people standing and waiting by the entrance. Kind of noisy and close quarters but adds to the experience. None the less, I appreciated that they accommodated my request for no meat with the egg Benedict and substituted it with tomato. Loved the hollandaise and potato pancakes with applesauce and sour cream.

Upon our arrival, we walk into the front door to the hostess station with three employees huddled together in conversation. They briefly look bewildered at our entrance like we had just broken into the establishment. After 10 seconds of staring, one finally pipes up and seats us while another turns her back to us to resume talking to her companion. The former was very cordial, but the latter was a heavy-set red-headed woman who found it more prudent to turn her back to customers while ushering them away with her hand so she could resume her conversation. They remained huddled together, the three of them, for most of our visit. Jenna, our very quirky and outgoing waitress, salvaged what was turning into a sour visit. From her very first welcome, we knew our visit would be a great one! Our Strawberry Belgium Waffle and Pigs In A Blanket(pancakes wrapped around sausage links) were fantastic, but our waitress made it all the better. She salvaged a 4 out of what quickly was turning into a 2 star review. The primacy effect in psychology states that first impressions always leave the most impact on an individual, and although we have been here before, our first«greeting» today at the front left much to be desired. You are very lucky that you have such an outstanding waitress at your employ.

Best breakfast joint. I take all of my out-of-town friends here, and every single one of them walks out with a fully belly and a smile.

We eat here usually once a week! Delicious food and fantastic service! Their omelette’s are to die for! 3 egg omelette’s! Try the philly cheesesteak one! Eggs Michael is another one of my all time favorites! I’ve tried just about everything on their menu and haven’t been disappointed yet! This place is always packed especially on a Saturday morning! So if you are in a hurry, this is not the place to go on a Saturday morning!

Great food, great options, very good value. Booked solid on a Saturday morning is a good sign for a breakfast place and the wait was long so I got take out. Love to see a business with a waiting list because it means they must be good. They did not disappoint, the apple pancake was just amazing.

After a hour wait we finally got our food. The apple pancake was somehow burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. They stuff so many tables in here you can barely move through it. Probably the worst pancake house I’ve ever been to.

What happened to the pancakes? They are itty bitty now! I posted a picture of my pumpkin pancakes last year, and now they are like half the size. I asked when we checked out and we were told they hadn’t changed.

It’s breakfast. It’s good. I find the lack of Biscuits and Gravy disturbing for a southern breakfast spot. Other than that it was great. A bit of a wait on a Sunday morning but that is to be expected! Good selection on the menu for pancakes and omelets. The Chorizo Omelet was excellent. Recommend.

Two month’s ago my wife and I decided to try this restaurant for breakfast based on the glowing reviews — We were HORRIBLY disappointed. Poor, slow service and gross food. Today, we tried again. I wanted to give the place a second chance; after all, everyone has a bad day. Obviously, I was wearing my ‘bad idea jeans’ because the experience was 10x worse than the first. Atmosphere: A greasy spoon wedged between Starbucks & Garner’s on one side and The Fresh Market on the other. With neighbors like that, you might assume The Pancake House is a hidden gem — you would be terribly mistaken. The place is dark, dingy, and dirty. The table was sticky, the floors and seats were dirty, and the ledge beside our table was cultivating a healthy layer of dust. Service: With a retirement community right up the street, we weren’t surprised to see most of tables occupied by bluehairs. The senior patrons may be slow, but service at The Pancakes House is even slower. Even with several waitresses milling around the drink station sucking down coffee, it took more than 15 minutes to get menus and just as long to order food. The service is excruciatingly slow, but I’m not sure why — there were only 5 tables occupied in the restaurant. In fact, there were more employees on hand than customers! Food: The restaurant obviously caters to seniors with dishes straight out of the 1960’s that alternate between bland and gross . My wife had a chicken crêpe which consisted of a cold, congealed version of chicken almondine wrapped in a crêpe and sprinkled with a helping of extra almond slices. On the side were 4 ‘potato pancakes’ made from mashed and fried hashbrowns with a helping of bland — really bland — applesauce. Her ‘sweet’ tea was not sweet, but had gone bad and soured. I ordered the Chiorzo omelette. BIG mistakes. This thing looked like cheesy afterbirth and tasted even worse. Foamy eggs, oily cheese, and bland chorizo. To add insult, they pair it with a sidedish of canned chili/dogfood. Gross isn’t the word for it, this vile concoction turned my stomach after choking down 2 or 3 bites. Not able to take anymore, we pushed our unfinished plates away, paid, and vowed to NEVER return to this nasty slop house. Do yourself a favor and take our advice — Avoid the The Pancake House like the plague.

Stopped in after chapel services to a bustling Sunday morning crowd. We were seated within 10 minutes and provided excellent service immediately. I ordered Swedish pancakes with lingonberries and powdered sugar, 2 eggs, and coffee. The meal arrived quickly and was fantastic. Portions were large, taste was exceptional, and presentation was perfect for such an establishment. Definitely worth a return trip; the menu has many exciting options.

Food and service was pleasant. We went on a week day morning about 8 am. They were not too busy. We received pleasant service and the eggs Benedict was tasty. The potato pancakes weren’t the greatest. They were thinner than crepes and just didn’t tasty like much. Maybe the ingredients were thin pancake mix and instant potatoes. Terrible sin… they do not have biscuits and gravy! The place was clean for the most part. Guess it is difficult to keep sticky syrup off every surface and menu in a breakfast joint. The annoyance was that we were seated by the cashier station and every couple of minutes the servers were digging in the silverware tub behind the booth, which was loud and clangy. The drink station being in the seating area was different and aesthetically not appealing. Otherwise, decent place. Prices are reasonable.

It’s been two years since my last confession… oh crap, wrong place… Ohop(as we’ve started calling it) is still one of my staples, but I finally managed to try something other than my Florentine Crêpe with Chicken. I’ve tried the English muffin with the sherry sauce on it known as Eggs Michael, I’ve tried the steak and eggs, I’ve tried a few of the omelets. The Egg Michael and Crêpe I usually get are what I consider«ideal.» If you’re pretty hungry, you can probably eat it all and not be in epic pain afterword. The omelets… not like that at all. If you make it through half of one of their omelets and still think you could eat a bit more, just stop. Chat with someone, count the oranges in the squisher, color a kid’s place mat, anything. If you keep going without giving some time for things to settle, you will wonder how you will possibly bend enough to get in the car home. Yeah, you may notice I am not big into sweet stuff. I’ve had their pancakes plain, they were very good and light and fluffy, but I will pass on the fact the kids I drag with me turn into little hoovers when their plates are put in front of them. The 3 stack of chocolate pancakes with chocolate chips and real whipped cream are a favorite. Except for two weird little people who thought the whipped cream tasted«weird» because it didn’t taste like the stuff in the can does. *face palm*

I did actually go back to dine in and had a very good experience so I am updating my review. I obviously ordered something else, which was the pumpkin pecan pancakes, and they were delicious. Even though I was warned about going on a Sunday, I did and I was seated immediately. Service was prompt and friendly. I was also impressed that they have turkey sausage and turkey bacon available if you want them. So my final recommendation is to not get carry out, don’t order the Dutch baby, and forget the apple pancakes and you’re good to go!

I’ve been coming here for the past 10yrs and I can say I’ve never had a bad experience dining in or taking out(the to-go experience has gotten better since the revamp of trenholm plaza). The original pancake house is a staple in the forest acres community — everrrrrryone dines here(locals, blue/white collar, military). The place can fill up quick on the weekends so we usually go after the breakfast rush on a weekday. We’re always greeted by the hostess upon entering unless she’s seating customers(she always quickly returns so there’s never an uncomfortable wait — again, we never come when it’s crazy busy). My must haves are the Dutch Baby, Apple Pancake(very similar to the Dutch Baby — sugar overload), and Bird Of Paradise(when I was eating meat), Veggie Egg White Omelet(so huge, good for a post workout protein fix) and Buckwheat Pancakes. My bf likes the Eggs Benedict and my son loves the Strawberry Pancakes — with their house made strawberry syrup!!! I never knew how big of a chain OPH was until just now — it’s that good, I thought it was local — try it!
