I duck into here from time to time when I still have my pj’s on and need milk or… well, that’s about it. This morning one of those ‘ducks’ took place. I know I may look scary when I do go here but that is NOEXCUSE. Every single time I have ever been in here I have been treated with such complete and utter unprofessionalism that it’s getting out of control. Look, I understand that it is a convenience store and probably not the most desirable job in the world, but at the end of the day, the customer is why you’re there. Anyway, here is the story… I walked in at around 7 this morning and greeted ‘Clerk’ with a cheery ‘good morning’ which apparently seemed to catch Clerk by such surprise that a response wasn’t reciprocated. That’s all I can figure anyway. This has happened before. Shortly thereafter, I grabbed my brown sugar cinnamon pop tart and half-gallon of milk and was on my way along with another customer right behind me. As we stood at the counter, waiting, without looking at us Clerk said ‘give me a second’ as pricing new products was far more important that attending to the growing line of customers eager to get in/get out. We waited a few minutes longer– seriously this became almost laughable it was so rude– while Clerk toyed with the jammed pricing gun and it was only until Clerk got fed up with the pricing gun that we were acknowledged and attended to. No hello’s, no small talk and certainly no apology– just a ‘cash or credit’ and a ‘next’. So strange. Am i delusional or is this completely unacceptable and rude? Rhetorical question as I’ve already made up my mind. I will be driving the extra block to hit the UDF who, not only have cheaper prices, but actually train their Clerks to smile.
