Beechwold Barbershop has been operating in Columbus for over 17 years! I can’t fathom how it has zero reviews! It is in an off-​beat location, further north on Indianola, so that could have something to do with it.
I’ll tell you exactly why I came here, and it’s an issue that I’ve spoken about in other barber reviews previously… I wanted a straight razor shave to do away with my cinco de stacho mustache (an annual tradition at this point), but god forbid anyone want a shave on a Wednesday. Nearly all barbershops are closed on Wednesday! I also tried Blue Star Barbershop in Polaris, but they couldn’t get me in until Monday. Not happening! Beechwold was open. Done deal.
Beechwold, like Turner’s in ShoNo, is Walkens only. I LOVE Walkens only places! No appointment necessary! On top of that, my straight razor shave, which did include hot towel press and all that jazz, was only $ 15! This is a good $ 3 – 5 cheaper than other shops in town. The only downside was that the barber did my neck with a mach 3. I don’t know if this is standard or not, but he said because neck hair tends to go every which way that it was preferable to a straight razor. I didn’t complain. It was one of the closest shaves I’ve ever gotten, that’s for sure.
Cash or check only. Luckily, I had my checkbook with me cuz who be carryin’ cash in this day and age? Drug dealers and tattoo artists, that’s who.
