Big Run Park

I used to come here all the time as a kid. Went there a couple days ago and vowed, «Never again.» I know a police station is back there, but shady stuff goes on back there, cops or not. I just don’t feel safe.

I just go here to play hoops. Pretty shady crowd (hey, I’m one of em!).
But none-​the-​less, I approve.

Big Run is a sizeable park for a Columbus Parks & Recreation. Running through it is the Big Run Scioto Watershed and lots of woods, which could make for a pretty walk. There are no actual trails but the woods aren’t so thick that you can’t go through them. They have picnic tables and playground equipment, as well as a shelter house that is by reservation only. Also, there is a sports complex on the premises. Pets are allowed, as I saw some people playing fetch with their dog.

Enormous disappointment. We drove around the park at first to find a trail. Their was only one paved entrance into the woods so we parked and headed in that direction.
The trail was covered in dog poo. I kept thinking to myself that someone could jump out of the woods and attack us around every corner. A ¼ mile later the trail ended on a busy road.
We turned around and headed back to the car.
The park sucks. And if you’re a female I wouldn’t suggest the ¼ mile walk alone. It gave me the heebeegeebees.
There was a large family having a picnic by the playground. The playground didn’t have very many options and there was no pavillion to sit under.
