I have lived here for 5 years and unfortunately it took me that long to realize that the landlord does not care about this property or the tenants. He would rather spend his time in Latin America getting drunk and«screwing his maid» as he puts it. The boiler has been broken for 3 months and has yet to be fixed. The landlord is not overly cooperative in lowering rent or decreasing the electric bill to compensate tenants for this inconvenience. There are occasional roaches and mice. Both of which come here due to the poor maintenance of the building. Doors are left open at random for long periods of time allowing all types of critters to enter the building. The building is never cleaned. I have been there 5 years and have not once seen the maintenance guy vacuum the carpet. Bugs are a constant problem, especially spiders. The maintenance guy is lazy and only completes tasks that would be considered an emergency(Like a collapsed ceiling or leaking sink drain that trickles down to other apartments). The laundry facility is filthy with cat hair, lint, and littered with bugs and cobwebs. The parking lot is never shoveled or salted during the winter months and at this moment there is a giant hole developing in the parking lot. I can literally see into the pipes underneath(maybe it is actually a pathway to hell since that is where I feel I am living minus the overbearing heat!) Several years ago I would have happily recommended this place as a great place to live. Unfortunately, I am over the nostalgia of living in a historic building that is not taken care of. If you have to live downtown, I would recommend the Belmonts or F&W properties. I will be moving shortly.
