Been coming to China Express for about 10 years and am there to pick up lunch just about every Saturday. Can’t beat the lunch combo that includes your choice of rice, as well as egg roll or wonton soup and a drink for just under $ 7. I almost always have food to stash away for lunch that week, Not a great place to dine in as the space is real small so you will catch some winter wind if you eat there so go the pickup route.

If It’s cold outside bring a jacket. They don’t spend money on heat. The forks are so cheap I have to put two of them together just to puncture my broccoli, but that’s cool with me because they give enough food to feed me for THREE meals. PLUS they have brown rice. All for only $ 7.95! If you are looking for a fancy bathroom with a marble floor and gold plated faucets this is NOT the place for you. However if you want good quality Chinese food with excellent portion sizes and healthy brown rice then this IS the place for you. There are a million places to get Chinese, but only one China Express.

I’m bumping this place up to five stars! They’ve consistently been very good since I found his place! The food is always hot and fresh! The lady at the counter is always very friendly both on the phone and while picking up my food. This is the kind of place I want close to my house and always want them to be there!

Love this place. I go here so often, they pretty much know what I’m going to get. We also order delivery at work quite often and they never let us down.

Not bad there was a TON of food. Sesame chicken was a huge amount. Sweet and sour shrimp was crisp but to much batter and a little mushy on the inside. Great crab ragoons. I think we would eat there again I just might not order the sweet and sour shrimp

I got the General Tso’s and it was not very good. The brown sauce was the worst I’ve ever had. Not a very big portion size for $ 6.50. I asked for steamed rice and got fried. But I will say that the service was very fast.

Love love love this place!!! Best shrimp egg rolls and wonton soup I’ve had in columbus(in fact-when I was pregnant I probably had that combo once a day for three weeks straight!) their crab rangoons are also great-and everything very reasonably priced. The women that work their always know it’s me picking up my soup and egg rolls, and always so friendly. We moved to westerville temporarily a year ago-and I still went out if my way for my china express cravings. delish!

I skip over several chineese delivery restaurants much closer to my residence and order from China Express because the food is tasty and fresh. Recommend beef and broccoli in addition to their soups and egg rolls… Customer service is very good too.

I was craving some hot and sour soup for lunch yesterday. I considered just going to Giant Eagle and getting it from their hot foods buffet, but decided to try China Express instead. It was a good decision. For $ 3.50, I got a bowl of soup and a shrimp egg roll — at Giant Eagle, this probably would have cost twice as much. The soup was good, more hot than sour and a bit overrun with mushrooms(which were less cooked than I like them) and the egg roll was fresh and crispy. I was in and out the door in five minutes, the perfect quick lunch stop. As mentioned in other reviews, the inside of the restaurant is nothing fancy, but it was clean and the staff was friendly. I’ll be back to try their entrees.

Yes. When you want Chinese food but are too lazy to drag your fat body to go get it, they will deliver it to your door in a timely fashion, and it will be delicious. Pickup is better; the food will be hotter than with delivery. Everything here is good. Everything that is deep fried is crispy. Everything not deep friend is covered adequately in whatever sauce goes with it. The medium is the perfect size is you aren’t a glutton. A medium size portion of vegetable lo mein is the perfect amount for an entire day’s worth of food.

I got turned onto this place shortly after I moved to Columbus when a coworker insisted that I try the Sesame Chicken(which I’d never had from ANY chinese restaurant before). That was five years ago. I no longer live a mile down the road from China Express and I don’t even work with that coworker anymore but you’d you’d have to pay me to get my Sesame Chicken anywhere else! In fact, it’s quite a hike for use to get to China Express from Clintonville(considering there are a tons of other Asian places within a mile or two of our house) but it’s totally worth it. For well under $ 10(and even less for lunch), you can get your meal with really good fried rice and an equally delicious egg roll. I also think their wonton soup is the best I’ve ever had. As I’ve mentioned in other reviews, I’m not a «genuine» food professional so I can’t vouch for the authenticity of their cuisine but I can tell you it’s delicious, regardless of what it’s «supposed» to be. I’ve only tried the sesame chicken, wonton soup and another old coworker told me the wor sue gai is amazing… it looked pretty tasty. As other reviewers stated, there’s not much of a dining area but they’re not claiming to be a fancy dine-in establishment… this is take-out, people. However, if you do need a quick place to eat food on the go, there are some tables inside and I’ve sat at them a number of times during my lunch hour in the past. The woman that always answers the phone and I *assume* owns the place is awesome. Despite the fact that I haven’t ordered from them in almost two months, she immediately recognized me when I called tonight. She is sweet and I’m sure they all work hard for their living. I know they take pride in their restaurant. Sure it’s tiny but it’s always clean, the food is good and they are always kind… what more is there to ask for? I know there are plenty of places to get Amer-Asian take-out…and I’ve tried several… but I’ll keep my speed dial #3 set to China Express.

I’ve lived in Gahanna 2 years and never noticed this restaurant, so decided to give it a try. The conclusion? A resounding«Meh.» I ordered the General Tso combo with fried rice and an egg roll, and splurged for an appetizer of crab rangoon(what diet?). The menu said you could substitute the egg roll for soup. Pretty standard stuff. The ordering experience was very pleasant – the lady taking my order gave me plenty of alone time with the menu, and offered to adjust the spice level of my food, which is important when you’re a big spice-wimp like I am. As a previous reviewer mentioned, this place is FAST. They told me 5 – 10 minutes but I barely had time to pull up solitaire on my phone before they were announcing my food. While I was waiting, at least 3 people came in to pick up orders, all of whom had sesame chicken. I started to feel left out with my General Tso’s…maybe next time. The egg roll was decent – crunchy on the outside, egg rolly on the inside – but not spectacular. I only had a few bites of it before offering it to my cat.(He didn’t want it). The crab rangoon was shaped how I prefer(triangle vs dumpling style) so held promise, but the stuffing was very bland. A bit of salt would have gone a long way! I had to use the provided sweet and sour sauce to liven it up. The General Tso’s Chicken was actually quite good – large chunks of crispy breaded chicken and crunchy broccoli swimming in a shallow pool of that familiar semi-spicy sauce. If you’re looking for stereotypical General Tso’s, this is it! The portions were large, though there was surprisingly little rice for the amount of chicken. Though, when I say«little» I mean«Can only eat it for 3 meals instead of 4.» China Express definitely wasn’t a _bad_experience, but all in all, if you’re in Gahanna and want hole-in-the-wall style Chinese, go to Magic Wok instead.

This is your atypical, down and dirty, strip mall, American-made, Chinese Restaurant where the pan fry grease fills the air to moisten your palate. Oh, I can see it now. The flames roaring up over the chef’s head as he’s torching my chicken w/broccoli. I have to hand it to these folks. They keep it real. No frills. You get what you see and you see what you get. The dining room reminds me of an unfinished miniature cafeteria. It is plain-Jane. A little more color won’t kill ‘em! Ah, what the heck, I never stay to eat anyway! The food is average to above average. I’m sure you can get some«great» fare here, but I’ve yet to order it yet. Obviously, this is not my first choice for Chinese, but it’s definitely not the worst either. I do recommend this tiny restaurant, especially if you’re in a hurry. Man, are they fast! I think that they’ve got Mark Pi’s Express beat hands down! And, the price is right. No complaints there either.
