I’ve never been more disgusted by an establishment in my life. We were a group of 4 in for the Bengals/Browns Thursday night game on 11÷5÷2015. We’re all in the service industry(bartenders and servers) and so we know how things are SUPPOSED to work at restaurants. This place really breaks the mold. Two of my friends ordered food before the game started: some nachos and a burger. When the food came, my friend who ordered the burger noticed that she received the wrong item, but our server disappeared before she could say anything and, since they were so busy, my friend decided she would just go ahead and eat the food she was given and not make a big deal out of it. Mind you, she was doing this because she simply did not want to make things difficult for our server during a busy rush. About 15 minutes later, the burger she was supposed to receive magically appeared, and we informed our server that our friend had already eaten what was given to her and so we did not need the burger. The server took a seriously rude tone and said«Well I can’t do anything with it NOW so you might as well take it» and dropped it on the table. We tried to give the food back to her as no one really wanted it, but she rudely insisted and walked away. Since the burger was sitting on the table and there was no server in sight to take it away as we wanted, we ate it! Wouldn’t you? Then about 20 minutes later the server appears again and tells us that her manager wants us to pay for the burger since we ate it! To reiterate, this was the burger that we tried to get rid of but that was essentially forced on us and was the result of an error by the restaurant staff! So I asked to speak to this manager and she arrived shortly after. If any of you have read any of the other negative reviews on this place then you will undoubtedly be familiar with this woman because she is the cause of the majority of the complaints. A short blonde lady(probably in her 30s/early 40s) with a white polo approached our table, and proceeded to explain to us why we would have to be charged for a burger that we did not want. We explained to her that we tried to get rid of it but that the server rudely insisted we keep it because there was nothing else she could have done with it. Still, she insisted that because we ate it we HAD to pay for it. I told her I work in a restaurant and there is no way we would treat a guest like this. What was her response? «THENLEAVE!» So leave we did. On the way out I tried to speak to a man who I knew was the owner because I felt like he would want to know how guests were being treated by his GM. He turned away from me and the GM stepped in front of him like a guard dog and told us to leave. I told her I thought the owner might want to know what was going on in his restaurant and, I kid you not, her response was«He doesn’t care!». THEOWNEROFCHUMLEY’S «DOESNOTCARE» HOWHISRESTAURANTISBEINGRUN. I have since come to find out that Chumley’s has a policy of making its employees pay for food and drink that has to be comped due to error. This is ILLEGAL. I have also found out that there is a class action lawsuit against Chumley’s on behalf of its employees which Chumley’s is losing. Apparently Chumley’s does not like to pay their workers. AVOIDTHISPLACEATALLCOSTS. They are not just incompetent, they are shady. If you care at all about the rights of workers and if you care at all about respect, you will take your money to any of the other fine campus establishments on High Street. I will never return and neither will any of the many industry workers I know after I tell them what happened to us.

Great beer selection… not so good food. I ordered the fish tacos and wasn’t impressed. It’s a sports bar so what do you expect? Having 50 beers on tap made up for It. They have a great vet selection! The bartenders were really nice and it had a good atmosphere.

Fine for a college bar. The worst part is how packed it can get. The one time I was there for dinner with friends on a weeknight, we had the rudest waitress, and the food isn’t all that great.

I was invited to lunch here by a work colleague from downtown. His description: «This is a two-tiered sports bar that has a huge menu of great bar food, good happy hour deals, and will remind you of campus bars from back in the day. But it isn’t filthy or a hell hole.» Spot on. The lunch crowd we had, and admittedly this was during winter break so the place was not packed with the usual student population, ordered salads, burgers, sandwiches, and fish. All meals were decently priced, solidly tasty bar food. Impressed that fried potato sides consist of steak fries, thin fries, or tater tots. Hurrah. So OK, good for lunches with fast, friendly service(again, not on a busy day), but I will have to return for a happy hour or postgame cocktail. Huge cocktail menu. We mistakenly picked up the beer listing/cocktail menu thinking it was the food list. That’s great for being in a «beer and shot» bar alley. This place has many flat screens for sports viewing. My favorite, though: with the overlooking second floor balcony area that looks down into the first floor bar area, this place reminds me of a much cleaner version of olde campus’ sadly defunct Papa Joe’s. I will add this place to my lunch rotation when I’m at work and my happy hour rotation when people want to be near campus. Parking? It’s campus. Good luck. 2 hour meters or parking garages. Better yet, cab or COTA bus.

I’ve been to Chumley’s a few different times now, and I have to say that it’s become one of my go-to spots on campus. As far as happy hour specials go, they’ve got one of the best ones I’ve come across so far. You really can’t go wrong with having apps half off haha. Beyond that, I also tried one of their burgers last week(the atomic burger), and it was pretty great and decently priced. I definitely see myself going back to Chumley’s many times over the course of the next few years.

It always smells like sewage in there. But they do have a lot of beer on tap and decent food.

Heart of campus. Come here for great specials and the patio. The food is so-so, but as expected in a sports bar. Come early and try to grab a patio spot and enjoy the day.

I have never had worse service at a bar before. I heard this was a great place with affordable drinks, but when I got there I ended up standing at the bar for over half an hour waiting to be served. When I approached a bartender and asked her why I was being ignored, she reacted with hostility and told me that I should leave. I will never recommend this place to anyone — there are so many better bars at OSU.

Cute bar with nice outdoor area. Huge beer and cocktail selection. Reasonable prices. Minus points for dirty ladies room– very icky.

Was very impressed by all the beer on tap, but less impressed by frat house cleanliness that found its way onto my elbow just to have a server ask me why I was requesting a wet towel to wipe it off. Pretzels were tasty with the apple butter and honey mustard dipping sauce. Liked the atmosphere other than cheese on my elbow and the dry rag given to me to wipe it off. Ya dig?

Where do I start. Ordered a chicken sandwich, came out with frozen avocado slices which tasted like apples. Sugar from my fries was sprinkled on my sandwich… Also large amount of sugar on sweet potato fries fries… Service was mediocre… Boo on you.

Best beer selection on campus hands down. I came here when they first opened a few years ago to check it out and was not let down. Can be a fun place to just visit or to watch an OSU game. Good for a few or a group… won’t be let down by the beer selection and as always hijacking the touchtones jukebox is fun! I did finally have their food last fall and it was good. proper bar good. Burgers and nachos are both a key thing to do well which they did.

Tasty Wings Cheated on my diet with some Chumley’s last night. It was late so their whole menu was not available. Ordered up some honey barbeque wings and they were much better than expected. The flavor centered more around honey than barbeque. devoured them quickly. Will have to stop in again when the full menu is available, but good first impression

I’m writing this as a «we were drunk and walking through campus» so bear this in mind. I’ve never been here by myself. I’ve never said«hey, you know what sounds fun? Chumley’s!» It’s always my buddy who says«dude, they have a huge tap selection, and we can hijack the jukebox using touchtunes.» Got that? Hijack the juke box, good tap selection, and with some of my drunken friends. That’s what I like about this place. I’ve never eaten their food, because they’re surrounded by better eating establishments. I’ve never watched sports on their TVs, because that’s not why I’m there. I’m there to chat with my friends, drink beer, and walk the fuck out. And with that, they deliver.

This is a new bar/restaurant that is on Ohio State’s campus. The inside of the place is nice. Lots of places to sit, tons of TV’s and a huge bar. Drinks — They pride themselves on the amount of beer they sell. 50 on tap and 100 bottles. This is the only reason they are getting the three star rating. The beer selection was HUGE. The prices were decent, but you could probably find cheaper beer if you wanted to. Food — I would not recommend this place if you are looking for good food. They have your typical oversized bar menu. Every appetizer you can think, sandwiches, wraps, wings and gyros. I got the fried pickles which were really good. All my other food was terrible. I got a Chicken wrap with honey mustard. It was a cold tortilla shell filled with more lettuce and tomatoes than chicken and the honey mustard was served on the side(and was not very good). I would give them a 2 out of 5 for food. My fried pickles and my boyfriends fries were good, but that is about it. Overall, this is your typical sports bar and would be a good place if you are into watching sports and drinking beer. I would go here again, but only for the drinks. Not for the food.
