I have enjoyed coming to Cook’s for several years since moving back to Columbus. I like the diner feel and the staff is always friendly. I noticed they took the BBQ off the menu, just as well as every time I wanted any they were out. I like their scramble dogs and chili dogs. If you like 50’s décor and nostalgia then check them out. The food is not fancy, just hot dogs and burgers, but no complaints as everything I have eaten here was good.

I took my grandma here when she was in town for the day. Great 50’s décor and a casual atmosphere. The Chilli dogs are really good at a decent price. This place has records and Elvis memorabilia decorating the place. A nice place to chill and enjoy a chilli dog.

I wish I could rate a half star. I used to love stopping here now and then. I recently strolled in for lunch with the wife and it was disgusting period disgusting. The staff is always friendly, but the chili is the worst(it used to be good). My wife asked me to taste hers because it did not taste right to her. It did actually taste more like BBQ sauce than Chili. She has come to the conclusion they must throw all the BBQ from the previous day in the chili pot. Sorry guys I really would drop my rating to a half star if I could.

I am a huge fan of hot dogs. I will go out of my way in search of them, which is, in fact what I did today with Cook’s Place. While driving from Atlanta to Pensacola I diverted through Columbus to try this highly rated hot dog establishment. I’m retired so I am rarely in a hurry when I travel! Bottom line, I was disappointed. I feel really bad about that because the people running the place were very friendly. Southern hospitality at its best can be found there but unfortunately the scrambled dog was nothing to write home about. The chili was thin, watery, and had little flavor. The hot dog was equally boring. Sorry, but I am unimpressed.

Cook’s Place features what many have said are the best hot dogs in Columbus. The hot dogs share one thing in common with the prices — they aren’t huge! While you won’t find giant ballpark franks here, you will find some of the absolute best hot dogs for $ 1.50! They also have great burgers, fries, and milkshakes. If you’re lucky, Mr. Cook might even give you a free hot dog for being in the military! A great restaurant and a must-try. Look for the pink house on the corner of Miller Road!
