Checked out the Toast Bar today after hearing several positive reviews. Definitely consider it a hidden gem as the bakery front is not on the main street. Very relaxing and quaint atmosphere. Enjoyed a morning snack of a toast sampler and spreads with a honey vanilla espresso. Ended up leaving with a loaf of sour dough and Danish rye.

Misleading website. Says toast bar is open at 8 am. My wife and I show up at 8:15. Door is locked. Employee lets us in. We are told no bread until at least 9 am. What? We are offered to wait until 9 for fresh bread or we can buy frozen loaves from the day before. What??? We settle for some pastries but are sorely disappointed at the false advertising. I suggested to the employee that the website should clearly indicate the actual hours for the toast bar so that potential patrons can show up at the appropriate time and the response was a nonchalant«I’ll discuss it with him.» No «sorry for the inconvenience» or anything else. Also, don’t show up expecting to buy rye bread, you have to call ahead to order it. Maybe good bread but crappy and misleading website. Wasted trip.

What a very pleasant experience. My wife knows when I go to a place I go for a combination of food food and great experience. Concept wise it is real cool idea but the bread and spreads are so good and these seals the deal. The place is minimalistic and that can account for having a small space. Regardless it is not cramped as other popular places where it feels like claustrophobic almost. The seats and tables are by the wall and one communal table that seats maybe 10 at least is situated where it doesn’t hinder other customers and one can easily get in and out of the seat. The front counter is also at a very comfortable position where you can order without bumping into anyone or anything. Alrthough the barista and servers are nice, don’t expect much casual talk as they seem to be busy doing all things. But that also what makes the service seem efficient. All in all, I like the ambience, minimalist design, service, and food that this is one of the few places that I rate at 5 stars.

What an awesome little spot! Totally tucked away off of Riverside/33 but such a gem. Everything we ordered was delicious and staff was friendly. Toast flight — genius — love the spread pairings. Would recommend you order something else with it as it’s not a meal in itself. Also ordered the smoked salmon on sprouted Danish and the Ohio mushroom tartine, This was plenty of food for 2 people! Be aware it can get a little warm inside due to the attached working bakery.

Location: very very tricky to find! And a small little shoppe around the corner! Can be easily missed. Dan and Dan’s breakfast: would make you happy! As a foodie I get happy while eating, dan’s Salmon Sandwich is definitely a happy happy sandwich i wasn’t a big fan of the bread or the spreads small little portions but oh God that Salmon will make me come back i’m sure! Their pastries looked really good and i had a sample of the lemon bar and it melt in my mouth yumm! A must must visit! Thank you Dan for the happy meal.

PSA: Still five stars BUT before you inhale your next breath you must try DTB’s lemon bars. I am not being facetious. Get your booty over to DTB and order one right now. Gooey tarty lemon atop the crunchiest graham cracker crust. I’d take this over birthday cake any day.

First thing: listen to the the NPR/Radiolab/podcast that talks about artisan toast in San Francisco. Second: grab a couple of neat friends who won’t scoff at the idea of artisan toast. Third: Enjoy Great quality bread and spreads in this hidden location off some side street. Get the toast flight and try out a couple of their specialities. You get a choice of three different slices of toast complemented by 3 different spreads ranging from butters to preserves to cheeses. Ask the employees for her recommendations! I recommend the Country Sour and the Lemon Curd/Cloverton Cream Cheese(to-die-for). Their cultured butter is also quite unique. Place is small, so you might have to wait around a little bit for a place to sit, but there aren’t too many people who actually come and sit. There are 2 small tables and 1 larger table. If toast isnt your cup of tea, and yet you managed to stumble your way in, their pastries(croissants, cookies, etc) look pretty good. It does seem to take them FOREVER to just bring out your platters of toast and spreads, which I don’t understand, so make sure your company is good because you’ll be waiting for a while…

I have not been at this establishment. But I purchased the Rose Mary Olive Oil bread at Hill’s Market downtown. Delicious! Get some!

So, i broke down and bought a loaf of garlic– asiago at the worthington farmers’ market this morning. Am now slicing, buttering and enjoying with a mt carmel ipa [a cincy micro brew-which i also give 5 stars/the guy at savor gets it for me]. I am a bread lover and, if you are too, you will find it worth the price. Did i forget to say i’m watching OSU v PSU? Life is good. Hope some is left over for toast tomorrow morning.

I got hooked to Dan the Baker when I first went to the Worthington farmer’s market in the winter time. I needed something for a party and saw everything at the farmer’s market but nothing really stood out until I tried the bread Dan the Baker had there that day. Let’s just say this bread was so popular at the party I was at that everyone was coming back for more. I have never received so many compliments about a small loaf of bread. Now I know what to get to please the crowd next time I come over to a party. I also stopped by recently at his table at the farmer’s market and I like how his bread’s are always different and never really the same exact thing. I enjoyed my little pistachio croissant. It was full of flavor and fresh just the way a croissant should taste. I highly recommend trying Dan the Baker, as his bread’s are great with almost any dish and just enough to satisfy all your inner carb cravings!
