The shop has moved from the Unilocal location– across the street and up a block, in a little strip mall at 5020 Sinclair Rd. It’s a small, mom and pop place. I had a leather jacket that lost the zipper pull, and he was able to find and install another that matched. The owner is friendly and explained all the options, price was great, quality is great. It looks like they do wedding alterations, etc. I will keep them in mind for the next time I need tailoring done.

Found this business using the mobile app. I’ve taken a few jackets to Boris Tailor in the past, and was pleased with the worksmanship there, but his prices are a bit steep. Reading through reviews, I found a few other places that were cheaper, but the reviews were very mixed. Ultimately, I decided to try a business with only one review, but that review being a 5 star rating. The location is a little odd, on Sinclair Road off of Morse in what looks like an old hotel that has been converted to small offices. Not your typical storefront. Pretty much the whole business park is rented out though, so I suppose the transition has worked well. I took in two jackets to have the sleeves taken up a bit(apparently most people as skinny as me are considerably taller than me). The total cost was $ 40, $ 20 per jacket. Reading reviews for other businesses, I know I could have saved $ 4 by going somewhere that might have mucked the job up. Boris charges $ 12 or $ 16 per sleeve so the cost would have been considerably higher there. Needless to say, the price was right. Mr. Davis was very pleasant, and advised on length and things like one would expect. He told me average turnaround was about a week, but when I pressed about possibly getting the work completed earlier(for an interview), he told me he did offer expedited service for, if I recall, $ 12. I passed. I didn’t NEED them, just curious. I ended up going to Chicago the following weekend, so I went back later this past week to pick up the jackets. One was still a tad too long, and he’s fixing it at no additional charge(expected). The only negative thing I could say is that the one jacket I took home already had little pieces of thread left all over it. Basically, he didn’t do the best job cleaning up after himself. Very minor issue. Like I said, the service was very friendly. I’ll definitely be going back with other alterations in the future.

I was looking for a tailor that was open after 5PM when I came across Davis Alterations, and I am very happy that I did. Mr. Davis has close to 30 years in the business, is very customer oriented and affordable. There was a steady stream of business the day I dropped off my suits, but he took his time to make sure everything fit me properly. I had two pairs of slacks hemmed, suspender buttons added for $ 36 and could not have had a nicer experience. I will be using this company for years to come.
